There's a lot of football left guys...
I refuse to give up on the Redskins. I just won't do it.
Let's get healthy over the bye week, beat the Cowboys, and start thinking positive again.
Who thought we would make the playoffs after we lost back-to-back home games to the Raiders and Chargers? I'll admit that I did not.
If we can win 5 in a row last year, we can win 7 or 8 out of 9 this year and get back into this race. We still have all 3 division rivals coming to our house. We still have a lot of winnable games left on our schedule.
I am not about to give up on the Redskins in October. Let's hang tough and start winning some football games.
We WILL turn this thing around.

if campbell goes all roethlisberger and wins all his regular season games in his first season starting, awesome! but entertaining the notion of making an 8-1 run with MB04 is not even remotely in the same galaxy as even being an option.
it isn't even so much that MB04 is totally horrible... he plays "his game" pretty well. it's just that "his game" isn't good enough against real NFL teams when you don't have a stellar defense.
he might not be horrible (that's up for debate), but what is indisputable is that the offense is horrible with him at QB. maybe that will change with someone else, maybe not. but we have to find out.

That's really the key, isn't it? For as ineffective as the Redskins offense has been, one positive thing is that they have not turned the ball over a lot -- and that is what you get with a veteran quaterback. But when you have three play-making wide receivers, when your defense is not taking the ball away, when you defense cannot stop the other team in critical second half situations, that's when you need a quarterback who has a bit more vigor and raw natural talent.

We'll turn it around?? Can I have some of the stuff that you're smoking? To even have a chance at a playoff spot we would have to go 8-1 the rest of the way and there is no way that that is going to happen. I'm not saying that because I don't think that this team can get better. I'm saying it because I don't think that there is a team in the NFL that could go 8-1 with our remaining schedule. Not the Bears, not the Colts, not anybody.
Sure this team can get better, but what they need to do now is start building for next season. First and formost they need to figure out if Jason Campbell can be the qb of the future, because if he isn't then we are in BIG trouble. The only way they can figure that out is by playing him. On Sportstalk 980 postgame they were talking about this issue and one of the reporters was talking about a conversation he had with Keenan McCardell. Basically Keenan said that coming into this season the Chagers had no idea what they were going to get out of Rivers. He said it's impossible to tell how good a qb is from the way he plays with the scout team or 2nd string, and that the team had to trust in Rivers' talent and believe that he could get the job done. That's what this coaching staff needs to do.
Not only do they need to get Campbell in but they also need to start giving other guys a chance as well. Rocky is sitting on the bench while Holdman is out there constantly missing tackles. We traded up to get this guy (just like Campbell) so it's time to see what he can do.
I wont give up either. But I will go down fighting! Look I really really really want to see JC get in there. If we can get the stinking cowgirls and at least establish JC then I will take it as a positive. We will definately have to win eight out of nine or run the table to make it to the playoffs.

We need this off week to get it together.........we're late bloomers. Madison (my granddaughter) thought maybe a lucky unicorn on the face would help....not this week though.
These pics were taken at our local fall festival yesterday sponsored by the Volunteer Fire Department who immediately approached us and asked if they could get a picture of her on the front of their firetruck for their website. Seems the guys at the fire hall are having an ongoing war over the Redskins & the Ravens. Waiting to see those pics on the website.
Madison with here "Cheesy Smile".
Holding very still while getting that "Lucky" Unicorn on her face.
Although it didn't work today - Keep the faith. Something good will happen for us November 5th.

These are tough days to be a Skins fan. . .it's hard not to lose hope.
But I'm with you, JPM36. If we can win 6 in a row (don't forget about Tampa) then it's possible that we'll go 8-1 down the stretch. If we can come back and beat Dallas, and maybe have a nice 4-1 stretch (losing one of our games to Philly, Tampa, Carolina, or Atlanta), then we'll be 6-6 with four games remaining.
It's so hard to watch as the games slip through our fingers and the Skins' chances get more and more remote, but there's still a lot of football to be played and there's still a chance for this team.

I agree the defense is going to have to step it up, but I don't think they have the ability to. Except for Taylor, our secondary can't cover.

Even if they hold a team to 14 points its questionable as to whether or not this offense can tie that.

True. We have the offensive weapons to run the score up, but we don't have a reliable way in which to get the ball to them. JC can't be any worse. I could stomach JC playing and making mistakes, because he is young and hasn't been given a chance, but the kid has won at every level and has excelled through 4 years of change at Auburn.

I have no intention of giving up on the players. I do, however, we have no chance whatsoever if Gibbs doesn't wake up to his bad decisions. To me, he's the biggest obstacle now to at least six and ten. Holdman, Brunell, and Wright have simply got to go to the bench and the younger guys have got to be brough in, not just for the future, but also just to finish 6-10, which is a realistic goal.

Nobody in the East is pulling away at this point and all 4 teams in our division play very hard schedules. It is not completely unrealistic to think that 9-7 could take this division.
To get to 9-7 we'd have to go 7-2 to close the season. Is that "probable?". No it is not. Given our schedule and the way we have been playing, particularly on defense, it is very unlikely. But is it POSSIBLE? I say yes it is possible. There is a lot of talent on this team and a great coaching staff.
I still believe we can go 9-7 if we get some breaks and that might be good enough for us to slip into the playoffs. In 2004, the Vikings and Rams both made the playoffs at 8-8. Obviously, that was an EXTREMELY down year in the NFC, but there is a precendent for teams winning less than 10 games getting in.
We just have to take it one game at a time, starting with a win over Dallas. The Cowboys actually have 2 games between now and when they play us, including a tough Sunday night game @ Carolina next week. Hopefully we will be resting up while they are getting beat up and we can take advantage.
1 game at a time.

When you say that a team can make the playoffs at 9-7, you're presuming that said team can win the tie-breakers. At this point, that seems difficult at best.
We've lost both of our division games, and the only team we can possibly sweep is Philly. We've lost one conference game so far, and we'd most likely need to sweep the remaining NFC games to win the tie-breakers. Against common opponents, again, we're behind the rest of the NFC East.
At this point, I'd be happy with 9-7, but I'd be very surpriseed if it netted us a playoff spot.

You're talking about the players, right? Because that's the second game in a row we've had the lead at the half, and lost. That's textbook quitting.
