Lavar could be next L.T.

Post by Jeremy81 »

think about it for a sec...it's not so far fetched. GW's bringin in a whole bunch of linebackers, it's not so out of the picture to stick Lavar at DE permanantly, maybe droppin him back into coverage every once in a while to fool a whole lot of offenses. I don't know too many O-Lineman that can handle his speed and strength...Lawrence TaylorX2

Lavar at DE that we need, and pick up Sean Taylor in the draft...works for me

what do you think?

Think about this "the next" LT sounds great to me BUT the FIRST LA sounds even better. :o

Frankly, I'm still waiting for Lavar to play to the potential of "Lavar". Before he claims to be the next L.T. or as good a Ray "I didn't do it" Lewis, he needs to focus on his skills more. Only then will he be playing to his potential. Thankfully, I think this year will be the first year we see a glimmer of that.

IMHO Lavar's ability to show up every day and play at the highest level a human can possibly play at, has given him the right to say whatever he wants.

If he wants to compare himself to someone, or if one of our brothers at the hogs.net wants to make a comparison, then he has earned it...

Hope you guys are expecting any of that 6.5 Lavar is trying to get. (joke, smile)

Man, like I have said several times I LIKE LAVAR, BUT...

The guys is overrated, period. He has done more than JTrotter, which IMO is nothing. Great guy, but not a great linebacker. As soon as he beocmes something besides a big name, I'll be the first to speak up about it.

I would have kept CBailey over Lavar if you goanna go off of pure production. Skins fans wake up, Lavar ain't done smack, YET!

i like LA..but i will hold off on any criticizum of him do to the fact that hes had different sceams to learn each year..i think we will see an impact from him this year.. and 2005 should be even better...but i do agree that as of yet , he has not played to his full potential...

When Schottenheimer was here, Lavar changed the entire season. Have you forgotten that play against Carolina that lit a fire under this team? The 'Skins won 5 straight after that, and finished 8-8 after a dismal 0-5 start. Lavar is special. He just needs some players around him, and a good coach to guide him.

I'd like to see Lavar be the next Lavar.

Well with all of that being said I guess we'll just have to sit back and find out what's instore for Lavar while working under Gibbs and Williams.

I think if we get another solid middle linebacker we will try and trade Trotter for a pass rushing DE
LaVar is the best player in the League.

Doubt it! The odds of that happening this year are slim to none. Maybe next year Trotter goes bye bye. But not now.

i'm not a big LT fan, but the guy changed the way the game of football is played. everytime you see a guy try to swat the ball away from a qb, LT started that. LA has yet to distinguish himself in that way.

Give it time, it may happen. But like I said I wanna see the first LA there won't be another LT.

i'm sure it can happen for LA. maybe all he needs is one coordinator or head coach for successive years, and he'll become more consistant.

You know, I really don't like comparing present players with current players. I don't think there will ever be another LT. Or another Jim Brown, John Riggins, Jerry Rice. There's an inherent je ne se quois in each of those players; some innate ability to do what they did that only comes along once in a generation. Certainly, it is anyones right to compare so-and-so to any of these greats. They're considered the standard-bearers; their playing careers have made them the first name to pop into your head when you think of a dominant player at their respective positions. Still, it seems a sacrilege to compare LaVar Arrington with Lawrence Taylor. Despite the many, many personal shortcomings of the man, the player is still without equal. I'm no fan of the Giants, but my God. That man was a game breaker. How about this ? Let's say LaVar could be the next Wilber Marshall. Better than average and greatly respected (feared ?) on the field. Let's not heap such exorbitant expectations on a man who may be asked to drop to the three-point stance. Let him play his own game, and maybe...we'll be telling our grandkids that this new guy could be the next LaVar Arrington.

Agreed TC to say Lavar in the same breath as LT?? LT changed games from the LB position. All outside LB are built like LT now, just just don't play like him.

i love LA as much as anybody, and right now the closest thing the nfl has to another LT wears #52 and goes by the name of ray lewis.give credit where it's due,RAY LEWIS is the best defensive player in the nfl since LT.nobody even comes close.hopefully in a few years lavar will be roght up there with lewis.there is no way either can become the player
that LT was though guys, wake up.
