• Thought to be a temporary replacement until rookie Rocky McIntosh was ready, Redskins LB Warrick Holdman actually has been one of the team's more consistent defenders after a subpar '05 season. McIntosh might not get a chance to start until next season.
Holdman has hardly been one of our more consistent defenders this year. He, along with most of the rest of the defense can't tackle. He also got pulled along by Travis Henry several times on Sunday.

He didn't say consistently good, he just said consistent!!
That is the funniest thing i have ever read in my life.....actually, its pretty sad that such a highly respected writer could say something like that. Did he see Travis Henry dragging him down the field Sunday or has he seen that Holdman's side of our defense is called "Highway 99-57-22". It starts with a smooth ride past #99 Carter then a missed tackle by #57 Holdman and then you get to #22Rogers.....i probably shouldnt even go there.....lets just say that side of the defense is an offense's dream right now. Do you guys remember watching Tiki Barber not even being touched for 10 yards on about 8-9 of his runs to that side? Highway 99 was in full effect.....i think Wynn needs to get his job back....i didnt realize how much better a run stopper he was last year for us.
I think that he is one of the few guys that are consistantly contributing on defense. Is he any week a defensive stud, no but he is consistantly a contributer. He is averaging just shy of 5 tackles a game that means he will end the year with about 80 tackles. That would be a career high for him and that would be ok with me. I know once the secondary gets healthy he will flourish a bit. Rocky isn't ready and I am ok with him sitting there until he is.
Let's see.....Holdman is always out of position, he can't get off of blocks, can't tackle, and can't cover.....the only way that we could get less production from his position is if we decided to play without an outside linebacker. Get him out of there and give Rocy a chance.

Sometimes I truely question peoples actual football knowledge and if they have actually played the game. You would swear that we are loaded with Heisman winners on here and Super Bowl coaches.

Really???
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Somone with football knowledge who played the game, wouldn't be using stats like 5 tackles a game to defend Holdman's play... that defense would be used by someone who hasn't seen him play... his play hasn't been good... it could be worse though, we could have Mr. Nickels in his place whining about being misused...

That is simply not true. He has 26 tackles in 6 games (18 solo and 8 assist). Let me see 2/6=4.3 or 69/year. There are 52 linebackers in the NFL that have more tackels than him and 24 of those guys have only played 5 games! Also, he has 0 pass defenses, 0 sacks, 0 ints. His stats don't even reflect how poorly he has played. Why do you think people love to run to his side.

After the last two games I don't know that I can say positive things about any Redskins player, but if saying that Holdman has played reasonably well is proof that you don't watch Skins games, then apparently Gregg Williams doesn't watch Skins games. He has praised Holdman in several interviews this season.

As for my stats, these are from Yahoo players stats. Did I use a calculator or even take more than a second to do general math, NO.
Did I say that Holdman should get an MVP vote for the team? No. My point was to show that he wasn't exactly standing around or just running around like crazy out there. He makes some plays and when you look at it from a full season standpoint it, the numbers are not really that bad. Thats really all I was saying.
As for some people on here, I guess I am just getting tired of all the negative post. It seems like there is a different post for each of the starting 22 players that they are under producing. Everyone needs to step it up. Moss is being triple teamed and Brunell throws it to him anyways. Lloyd needs to get open. The O-line needs to do better run blocking. The defense needs to get more pressure so that the qbs will not have 5 sec's minimum back there and just lay the ball right where the WR's can catch it. Everyone needs to improve. Even the coaches.

I get what you're saying about being tired of people posting negative things and I feel your pain. I have been one of those that has posted some "negative" comments. I just wish I had more possitive aspects of the team to comment on. But here are a few. Whille the offense has not played as well as everyone would have hoped, it certainly has improved since last year and has potential to be very good once they truely know what works and settle on an identity. Mike Sellers has been a beast this year and is probably the most consistanty the best performer. Double D has had some really good games and is finally hitting his stride. Randle-El adds a dimention to the offense that needs to used more and has been a good pick up.
Maybe someone should start a thread called "What has gone right" or "Who is performing well".

Well something needs to happen because all I can remember is Brunell throwing to someone other than Moss, Randle El, or Portis is like no more than a dozen times.

That doesn't mean that other options aren't there. Brunell's the one firing the shots behind center.

See....there you go...some positivity. When your team is 2-4 and just let an 0-5 team beat you at home after being up 14-3, its hard to be positive. All i can say is i still love the Skins and i still love Coach Gibbs and as much as i disagree with alot going on right now with this team, we have to keep the faith. Gibbs will do everything he can to turn this around. It just really bothers me the way he is being so stubborn about #8. But i will always give him the benefit of the doubt. I have to.
Oh yeah....and even though Gregg williams praises Holdman on those post game interviews, i highly doubt he is gonna call him out on any television interview. Thats not how this staff operates...you all know that. You cannot defend Holdman. Is there a word for "worse than awful"? Hopefully it gets better.
Keep the faith fellas. I have been very guilty of the negativity but its very hard to remain positive. Its amazing what can happen in a matter of 2 weeks.
