Phillip Buchanon Released

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Phillip Buchanon Released

Post by The Hogster »

I think he is the type of player that can help our secondary moreso than someone like Kenny Wright or Mike Rumph.

When I saw this come out I thought that this may be an awsome pick up for us. Yes he has struggled in Houston but he was awsome in Oakland and I think that G Williams could find a way to tap back into that intesity that he had in Oakland.

I say definitely bring him in.

Our secondary is so bad right we should be looking at anyone and everyone.

No, this is a guy I think we should stay away from.

Buchannon is a typical underachiever who had it all going on in College, but when he got to the pros he just couldn't produce.

Plus, he's got an ego and I honestly don't think he would make our pass defense any better.

Vincent, is a nice pickup. But I would see Buchannon being a problem.

Once again the mindset with the Vincent signing. If we can get him to a low term contract, why the frig not???? We need ALL the help we can get back there. It's obvious that our secondary isn't getting better and probably won't this year (we are already 6 games in). If he doesnt produce then thats why you didnt sign him to a big contract.

NO way -- I don't like the Vincent signing either.

When you rank our problems on defense, our back 4 don't make the top 3 in my estimation. Many others are blaming them, I'm not.

Our 3 biggest problems:

1) Our Dline is not getting pressure on the QB in obvious passing downs. When there's no pressure by the front 4 on 3rd and 8, DBs are in trouble;

2) Our Linebackers are NOT playing well. I love Marcus Washington but he's trying to do too much because Holdman and Marshall stink this year. I get sick of hearing how great Holdman is --- he's an average LB. How many times did you hear Marshall's name against the Titans? Maybe 2!!! They ran the freaking ball 30 times! A MLB must be in on more plays when a team runs that many times. Where was he?

3) Our front 7 is NOT stopping the run. How many runs are getting stopped by our safeties or corners 8 or 10 yards downfield? Way too many. I think the back 4 are keeping one eye open for the run as they aren't sure the front 7 is going to make the play. The reason our defense was so tough last year was that we stopped the run... Our Dbs worried about the pass and knew they weren't expected to keep an eye out for Tiki 20 yards downfield.

The last thing we need now is another guy to learn our system. The NFL is about consistency, getting guys on the same page, guys getting familar with each other. As we bring in more guys we just upset that situation even more. Let's be patient and let the injuries heal and see how we do in the home stretch. I think the Skins panic too quick and I know folks on this board panic too fast. There are NO quick fixes out there, if so, they'd be on someone's roster.

When I saw the title of this thread, I knew folks would pounce on wanting to get this guy. What type of team do you have when players are always looking over their shoulder? That's for training camp and preseason -- not 6 games into the year.

Some of you beliebe in the following equation, don't you"

Washington Redskins = NFL Vacuum Cleaner

Why? Are we so desperate that -any- player cut by another team must be absorbed by the Skins?
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Too late! He signed with Tampa Bay! He wouldn't have been a good fit.
