REDSKINS SIGN VINCENT!!!!
Redskins Sign Vincent, Release Burns
By Gary Fitzgerald

October 16, 2006
The Redskins have added a veteran presence to the secondary with the signing of defensive back Troy Vincent on Monday.
Vincent is a 15-year NFL veteran who played with the Buffalo Bills last season. He was coached by Redskins secondary-cornerbacks coach Jerry Gray, who was the Bills' defensive coordinator in 2005.
A four-time Pro Bowler, Vincent produced a strong season last year, logging a career-high 102 tackles and four interceptions in 16 starts.
Vincent spent the 2006 preseason with Buffalo, but suffered a hamstring injury in training camp that forced the Bills to place him on injured reserve, ending his season.
Last week, the Bills released Vincent upon his request.

we didn't give up any draft picks and aren't losing anything. it was definitely worth a shot at this point, the pass D is pathetic.
Wow, I actually agree with DCD on this one.
I mean, what is there to lose? It's not like our secondary can get that much worse.
And who knows, Vincent could be the missing piece, you know, like Pierson Priouleau...
I like this signing.

Priouleau was a huge loss, incredibly underrated.... Vincent will shore up some depth problems but Im pretty sure this will be a bandaid on a larger wound.

After watching the DB's get torched again yesterday, i don't know how one could argue that a guy coming off a 102 tackle 4 int season was not worth the risk? This is a significant upgrade from our current roster but i agree with alot of you that this alone does not solve ALL our problems.

Well, someone claming to be him showed up yesterday. Hell, he was even wearing #24. But, it clearly wasn't him, cuz the imposter that played yesterday sucked!!
Sit back and watch the Redskins.

While i think we are all clearly angry about the play yesterday, your assesment that Springs sucked yesterday is a little heavy.
He made a couple of decent plays. What were you exepecting from him yesterday? It was his first game in 8 weeks! Now if you'd like to talk about the guy pretending to be a cornerback wearing #25 then we can have a discussion about that. The secondary is going to be helped alot by the addition of Vincent.

Definitely a good move.
I'd take just about anyone in the secondary right now and Vincent is a smart veteran player who knows our system.
Even tho he's past his prime I still think he's a better player than Kenny Wright or Mike Rumph or Reed Doughty.

Good move. It can't hurt at all.
Vincent is a team-first guy and will play the same role Prioleau did as the veteran backup at safety with knowledge of Jerry Gray and his schemes.

Who would've thought it'd even be a close game vs. Tenn., let alone a loss! I believe most people (myself included) were predicting blow-outs. As it was, playing Springs didn't make a bit of difference, but at least it was some game-time for him to shake off the rust.

Well, at least we've still got Mark Murphy, it sure is good to see number 29 back there. He seems a little slow though, and not covering very well.
Seriously, I'm wondering if Ade Jimoh got charged for a ticket on Sunday, he sure didn't do anything but watch the Titans receivers catch touchdowns.

I think Green at 45 might just play better than Roggers. I know DB usually go through second year slumps, but I don't think Ade Jimoh would play much worse than him. Troy V. adds some depth and with the D playing like it has, it can't hurt things!!!

OLD AND WORN OUT
If he was any good Buffalo would have kept him, just another name on the list of high price under achieving players . You build through the draft and add a few free agents , we have one of the highest payrolls and one of the worst teams.

He could probably start at CB, even with his slower wheels. Simply because Kenny Wright and Mike Rumph are just awful. Hell, you might be able to start at CB over them...
