Todd Sauerbrun cut by Denver...
Do we have ourselves a punter?
He made a foolish decision to take a weight loss suplement... and he paid for it.
Still, he's only 33 years old (a baby for a punter) and has a pro bowl leg. I think we ought to snatch him up.

Um, he's not on roids... he took a diet supplement that contained ephedra.
NFL players are now more stringently tested for steroids.
He was an excellent punter his whole career and ignoring all his past success because of one instance is beyond stupid.

According to an investigative report posted on the Charlotte Observer's Web site on Sunday, a number of Carolina Panthers used a vast quantity and tremendous variety of performance-enhancing drugs during the team's 2004 Super Bowl season.
.....
Players' names were blacked out on Wadler's report, but the Observer reported that six Panthers -- and three of the five starting offensive linemen from the Super Bowl team -- were taking performance enhancers. And many reported adverse reactions.
.....
The Observer reported that two players were given prescriptions for a combined five substances banned by the NFL -- a week before the Panthers left Charlotte for the Super Bowl in Houston. Three of the substances -- injectable testosterone cypionate, the banned supplement androstenedione and the hormone DHEA -- had not been reported before.
.....
Wadler's report also reveals that two other NFL teams have ties to this particular steroid scandal. Two of the Panthers players received prescriptions for performance enhancers when they played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins, respectively.
Prosecutors have already identified two former Panthers -- defensive end John Milem and punter Todd Sauerbrun -- as part of their probe, but those players were not in Wadler's report.

I still didn't say anything factually incorrect, but you're right, it sounds misleading.
I know Sauerbrun has been linked to roids, and he allegedly took some kind of performance enhancer.
The point still stands, his recent suspension was for ephedra, he's most likely not on any performance enhancer right now, and condeming someone for a single mistake is dumb.
Sauerbrun is a 33 year old punter who has a pro-bowl leg. Why wouldn't a team with punter issues be interested in him?

I know you weren't condemning him, but the other poster was.
I didn't miss Sauerbrun's scandal, but I guess I do have a tendency to let my emotions get the best of me and post first...

lol, Sean Landeta was an all-pro towards the end of Joe's glory days... maybe he forgot that Landeta was older than the hills.

If he can kickoff well then I think this would be a great signing for us. I'm sure after being suspended and cut, he's learned his lesson. This would shore up our kicking game completely. Kill the short kickoff and Frosty's shank issues with one stone.
