i just seen an article on duckett and how bad gibbs feels he is not playing.it goes on to say that he is just stuck behind cp and betts. is it me or was that not a perfect time to put duckett in on that 3rd and 1 when brunell threw it in to double coverage,and then we attempt a fg that was missed.i love gibbs as much as the next skin fan,but im having a hard time buying these lame excuses every week.

does it seem like we have the same game plan for the giants and cowboys every year?i feel like it is so easy to predict when we play them.

wouldnt it be nice if for once we dont trade all of our first day draft picks for some high priced free agents that have yet to produce anything.i just want to be a normal team like the patriots,chargers,colts,bears.you look at there teams and alot is built through the draft.i find it hard to believe our front office is that bad,but year after year we do the same thing every offseason.we are the yankees of football.

There are alot of excuses being made at Redskins park and Joe is taking too much heat for these players not performing. Has this coach and this organization been reduced to operating like this where they have to coddle and protect guys that are paid very, very well to play football???

I'd be ashamed of myself if was paid and stunk on the field. Especially when playing in the NFL is not guaranteed and you could be cut because of cap reasons and not your play....

I'm with you.

Gibbs has won 3 Superbowls, but it's hard to understand some of the things we are doing. Why did we trade a 3 and a 4 for Duckett if we won't play him?

I think many are WAY too hard on AA, AC and BL given they are new and have had some bright spots. I'm certainly expecting more in the future. I just think the criticism is too fast and too strong.

But we NEED what Duckett does and we gave up so much to get him. Can't we give him a shot? It's not like we're regularly making these 3rd and 4th and short.

Then there's the ultra-conservative game plan against the Giants who's secondary has been scorched. Then on 3rd and 4th and short in an ultra-conservative game plan, we DON'T bring in the bruisers.

I'm just not clicking with what we are even trying to do.

I'm not saying Brunell is a terrible QB, but his prime days have passed him. How can we expect our "free agents" to make plays when they are not given the ball? For gods sake....we tried to PITCH the ball to Randle El...come on now. Brunell, can't you pass to him in stride, just once? Can't you scan the field instead of throwing it out of bounds once the primary reciever is not open? Brunell is too conservative, like JGibbs. We are playing like we played early in last season: play to not make mistakes. Forget not making mistakes, take some risks, do some plays that are more than 10 yards. Once we play to WIN, we will score more points...and if Brunell DOES make mistakes, we will have enough points to cover for that. We need to play to WIN ... not to play to prevent mistakes. Don't play so conservative. And you know what Brunell, if you can't do that......step down...JCampbell has the guts to go downfield. Personally, I don't think ASaunders or JGibbs have the confidence in Brunell to throw a 30 yard pass.




In the end, what do I know. I'm just a depressed fan. I hope Washington can fix its QB problems SOON. Its a tough job being a Redskins fan, but I will not quit....never will I quit.

Seems like that problem was solved this off-season. I can't think of better collection of skill players (WRs/TEs/RBs) out there right now. Maybe the Colts, but thier RBs are still unproven (so far).

If we were the Yankees of football in the last 11 years we would've made the playoffs EVERY year, won 4 out of 6 SuperBowls in that time & won our division (I think) 8 out of 11 times!

So how are we the Yankees of football???

If anything as of right now (and I hate to say it) the Patriots are the Yankees of football!

Oh & the Yankees only had 1 coach in that time too!

I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. The free agency brings "staff members" to the team, not real Redskins, those players sign just for the money, they don't care if its the dolphins, packers or chargers.

When you draft a player, a feeling of belonging develops in him and he learns to love the team that gave him his first job oportunity. I think we have a team full of staff and not real Redskins. I know the game became a business a long time ago, but thats the way I see it.

The 1st Gibbs time wasn't like this. Yes he shouldered the blame and yes he protected his players and yes he supported his quarterback but not to the extent of taking a beating from the media and fans, not even when the team was 0 - 6. I clearly remember his press conference at that 0 - 6, he sounded indignant with the players performance and positive about the future. Right now, Gibbs sounds like Spurrier did, always saying how the players played hard, didn't play Redskins type football, can't win games when you make so many mistakes, etc. etc.

It's "hindsight" we are questioning not playing a guy we traded a 3 and a 4 for in the last year of his contract we have little hope of re-signing in the situations we traded him for? Do I not remember correctly the articles he was the last piece in the puzzle of having a short yardage bruiser?

And then when we don't use him for the reasons we were told we got him and we fail to pick up first downs and we ask what's going on we're told, sure "hindsight is almost always perfect."

Lame excuse. Brunell still had Moss, ey, and Portis which is a lot more than what other qb's have. Jake Delhomme had slightly better numbers last year than Brunell and he had a worse running game and less targets. I'm tired of hearing the excuse of Brunell having nobody to throw to when that clearly wasn't the case.
