LaVar on local radio/retiring

Post by Champsturf »

I know no one here will believe this, but LaVar was on a local sports talk show this evening and said he would seriously consider retiring if Gibbs doesn't work out. He has so much animosity towards that F.O.!! He just can't get over playing for another new head coach. He also said that if Gibbs can't get it done here, then no one can. I hope he plans on giving it more than one year to materialize.
The man is just sooo frustrated. I know we've all seen this before.....can we say "Champ"? I know he didn't retire, but was fed up with the organization and just couldn't/wouldn't take it anymore. I sure hope Coach can right this ship, otherwise we'll be headed to the bottom of the ocean.
Any comments?

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE NO!!!!!! I Love Lavar he is my favorite current Redskins! He has the potential to be one of the best Linebackers of all time! He is our franchise player. Gibbs will work out so I should not worry to much! He does have the right to be frustrated but when the Skins finally start winning his attitude will quickly change! Lavar's contract makes him a lifelong Skin! Hail to the Redskins!

I am also a LaVar super fan, but know this..one player is not bigger than the game. I hope Coach can work his magic and take us back to the glory. LaVar deserves to win. He works hard, plays hard, coducts himself with class and is a born leader. I would hate to see LaVar retire without a ring(s). I think he has seen how that effects a players' mentality first hand (B.Smith). As much as I respecte Bruce Smith, I don't think LaVar want to play just for the stats.

BTW, he made mention of Barry Sanders. It does sound eerily familiar. Barry, frustrated by having so much talent, yet stuck losing...I hope things work out.

You know what. I don't blame him. This organization is horrible and has no sense of direction. I hope and pray that Gibbs rubs off on our loser owner because he is our problem. I love my skins, and I've been a diehard fan my entire life, but this is our reality. We have a meddlesome owner who thus far will not leave well enough alone. I can deal with the losing, but it just irritates me that there is no improvement from year to year. This years team is not an improvement from last years. This is a brand new team. I want some stability and Im not even on the team. I can't blame Lavar for being fed up. And I wouldn't not WASTE my time with a vision-less organization.

I like LaVar but I am really fed up with the superstar athlete. I am so tired of T.O. and his constant bickering. Sapp and his dumb _ _ _ slave driver comments. Lets not forget the newest crybaby Ty Law. Mr. Iverson proves that idiosy is abundant in all sports. I just wish these guys would shut up because everytime they open their traps something stupid flys out.

Practice man, what are we talking about, practice!! What a brilliant statement from a brilliant mind
Death to all things remotely BLUE and SILVER!!!!!!!!!!! Hail Skins

I think this is several seasons of frustration coming to the surface as opposed to a genuine intention to hang 'em up. He'll be singing a different tune come December.
And LaVar, as good as he is, is not in the same league as Barry Sanders was (is) at his position.
RIP Sean Taylor

I never really thought about this before I made the post, but I sure hope LaVar didn't make that statement think that since it was way out of the D.C. area that it really wouldn't be heard. I hope I'm not ruffling anyone's feathers...either the team or LaVar's...

LaVar is talking out of his butt. You know what I'd tell him if I was two feet taller and maybe the same weight as now, only in better places ? " We're all depressed this time of year. Don't worry, little Camper. Uncle Gregg will find SOMETHING constructive for you to do. There, there. Now, you see ? It's all good. Go have a cookie, and shut up."

In this day and age, if someone offers you $68 million, you're not going to retire in the prime of your career. As much as I like LaVar, he, like most other, has succumbed to the lure of the almighty dollar!

As for his issues with whether Gibbs can make it happen, I'd love to have that happen with LaVar on board. But, if he's not there to experience a legend at work and reap the rewards, I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it.
Sit back and watch the Redskins.

Wow. In two short weeks I've gone from Lavar-mania to being a Lavar-hater. This beats all!

What a DRAMA QUEEN! Boo-hoo! What's he saying? If you don't make me a winner, I'll quit and take my 20 million signing bonus with me? That's so ... Spurrier!

And comparing himself to Barry Sanders is nuts. That's like me comparing myself to Michael Wilbon because I post a few thoughts on this bbs.

And here is the problem . . . Lavar thinks he's bigger than the team! Dude, there are 52 other players on the roster, not just you! And if you're so tired of losing - then do something about it on the field.

Man, between accusing the Skins of fraud, and now hinting that he might quit because he's so beat down by making millions of dollars, in a town that worships him, and will love him long after he legitimately retires, I'm getting the feeling that this is Champ deal and he wants out. At the least, he's throwing a temper tantrum and stamping his feet . . . can you imagine either Mike Singletary or Ray Lewis saying they're so tired of playing for a losing orginization - with adoring fans and a million dollar paycheck - that he wants to quit?

Lavar is trying to manipulate the media and through the media us the fans - on the one hand, he wants to be a redskin for life, on the other he's a drama queen who wants to quit and who's suing the team. He wants us to feel sorry for him. Forget that!

I've felt sorry for myself as a Skins fan for the last 8 years and the day Gibbs was hired I decided I don't care if we go 0-16 this year, it's going to be my favorite year of all time. Gibbs restored the total team - we are winners - attitude that we've missed since he retired. And in with my restored faith in all thing burgundy and gold - this drama queen, Spurrier-like, self importance isn't going to fly with me anymore as a hardcore fan. It would have last year. Not now.

Trade him for a ton of draft picks to San Diego. Trade him now. Let him reunite with Marty. And let's get back to the business of how we're going to turn Dallas into silver and blue mud.

If Gibbs doesn't work out then let's not just mention Arrington, how long can all of us stand to watch Snyder run our team into the ground? With Gibbs rides the hopes of all of us.
