Rumor: LaVar Gave The Giants The Skins Playbook?

Post by Jake »

According to a reliable buddy of mine... LaVar said in his press conference today that he kept the Redskins playbook and gave it to the Giants.

I don't personally know whether it's true. If someone can post a link, please do so.

I won't be one for a few more hours to find out.

If this is true then shame on him. I think we will do good this sunday anyways.

He probably wanted somebody to explain it to him, because he certainly didn't seem to understand it while he was here. Anyway, knowing what the plays look like is a different thing to actually being able to stop them. I certainly am not worried by it, even if it's true.

That would mark the first time LA has used the playbook so I suppose that's interesting

Well, maybe he thought they could help him understand it...

Even if he didn't give it to them, I'm sure the Coaches are smart enough to play as if he did give it to them. The Coaches have ways of mixing things up without showing their hand.

He did pass the book.
Watch the video of his interview.

Q: Coach Coughlin spoke with you earlier this week about them coming up?

A: We’ve had our sit-down talks and I told them the little bit that I know about the Washington Redskins. It was like a two minute conversation. But what I didn’t know, I do have your playbook. So if I didn’t understand it, I’m sure Coach Coughlin can decipher it.

That's just got to be a violation of some NFL policy somewhere, isn't it?

I mean, isn't that playbook Redskins property? If Arrington kept it for himself, wouldn't that amount to THEFT?

I would guess it was somewhere in his contract that he had to turn it in at the end, and not cmopromise the integrity of it. I think this is serious stuff, and the Redskins should take issue with it to the NFL or some other outlet.

Who cares. Just use that to exploit them. They could get our playbook by watching our game tape, its not all that hard to notice tendencies thats what good coaches do. With the salary cap and Free Agency, I am pretty sure that this happens a lot in the NFL.

I am just upset that Mr. Redskin for life did this. He lost the respect I once held for him. Not only in that he did it but that he bragged about doing it.
Well what more would you expect out of the "Worst Team" in the "Best Division"

If they needed proof, here it is:

Q: You still have the playbook?

A: Sure I do.

Q: Aren’t you supposed to turn that in?

A: I’m gone now. Arrington property now. New York Giant property now. And I understand some things. I won’t disclose that, but it’s not very much. They don’t have anything to worry about. I don’t know anything, so it’s good. We’re good. I told Coach Coughlin today and yesterday that I really didn’t know anything, so you guys have to either talk to Antonio (Pierce) or do the best that you can, and we’ll go from there.

If it took our offense this long to "get" the playbook, I am not worried about the giants having it.

The thing is... Lavar didn't break any rules when gave gave of the playbook, and in this day and age he'll beat this in any court. I can hear his lawyer now (no doubt a Poston  ). "Lavar had no idea what he was giving to Tom, he never opened it or had any idea what was in it". If court is held inside the Beltway, he'll walk.

On the other hand that might be the only contribution he makes to this game. They will have to adjust to the fact that Gray now coaches the secondary and their scheme has changed, then he'll have to adjust to the adjustments that our LBs have had to make due to Springs being out, throw in a completely healthy D-line (which relieves the LBs of another task) and compare all of that to what they have on film.

With 2 weeks to prepare they should be totally confused come Sunday.

Plus, he might have some defensive schemes that he could turn over, and Williams will simply send in signals in some coded way.

As for the offensive playbood, he wouldn't have been able to get a copy of Al Saunders's playbood cuz he was gone.

Q: Joe Gibbs yesterday on the conference call was extremely complimentary of you, and in fact himself said that ‘I have to learn from things that happened.’ Do you buy it?

A: I don’t, but whatever. It doesn’t matter. I don’t care. I could care less. He’s extremely complimentary, and he has another coach sitting there saying I didn’t know anything. Hello? You do the math. You do the math. You show yourself enough that people will see you. That’s the bottom line. Bottom line. But I really could care less. That’s not my coach now. If Coach Coughlin feels a certain way, then that’s something that me and Coach Coughlin have to address, but that’s not the case here. If Coach Lewis feels a certain way, that’s something me and Coach Lewis have to address. I don’t have to address those people. They’re nothing to me except our opponent for this week. The last time I checked Joe Gibbs or Dale Lindsay, they’re not putting on any pads and coming out and having anything to do with that game physically, so it doesn’t mean anything to me what they say.

Lavar, you are GARBAGE to us!

and

Q: How much did Joe Gibbs matter or affect –

A: I already told you. You heard me.

Q: I know, but you’re alluding, you’re not telling me.

A: It doesn’t matter what the man thinks at this point. I’m not running back to get a job from him. I don’t see myself ever going to get a job off of him in the future, so what does he mean to me? Nothing. He means nothing. So what his opinions are or –

Q: He meant something the last two years, though.

A: No, he didn’t. You’re not listening. It didn’t mean anything to me, because I was getting over being a Redskin the last two years. Because of the way things were done, the way things were handled, I was getting over being a Redskin.

Is that so? Why did you not have the stones to say so before?

Who cares?

Did he tell them anything Pierce hasn't already? Remember, Pierce called the D signals when he was here.

I think that's the biggest reason for the beating we took up there last year.
Pierce spelled out the D and Hassleback the O and it showed - it was the worst Skins performance in recent memory.

We adjusted and killed them when it mattered later in the year.

And he won't have offensive playbook unless he stole one.

I think Greg Williams is smart enough to realize that with two recent ex-skins as linebackers, he needs to disguise things unlike last year where they were too confident in their own scheme.

It's a non issue. Lavar was a jerk when he was here. And the trend continues.

I, for one, am sick of reading about L.A.. I would rather focus on the Giants team, as a whole, and not on one guy. L.A. is in the past. I say keep him there and never utter those words again.

So let it be written, so it shall be done.

La Var Arrington may be Giant now and the enemy but I think it is unfortunate that Redskins personnel made the comments that they did. It amounted to a personal attack and was uncalled for. While you may have loved him or hated him, for most of those years he gave his heart to the Redskins and the Washington community. He was never selfish with his time or energy.

That said, now Sellers can go knock him on his a** so Portis can score.

I should have read all the posts before writing this so I will add.

If it has taken the Redskin players this long to get the playbook down, so what if the Giants have it? Besides, Al Saunders offense has been studied by every defensive coach in the league for several years so much that some may be able to duplicate it from memory almost as well as Saunders.[/b]

Please, provide us with quotes of these personal assaults our coaches laid on Lavar?

Lavar lied on the franchise and on the coahes on multiple occasions. Ive stressed that countless times and now it comes out that he gave them our playbook. I dont mind player spilling their guts, we've picked up another teams scraps just to get their knowledge in the past. But this traitor gave them the entire book. Unforgiveable.

I was ready to see him retire a Skin some day but he can never come back for all I care.
