I have yet to put my shirt back on....I think I may have ruined my THN shirt when I ripped it off in celebration. I usually dont strip out of glee. :lol:

Anyway, Mark played a heck of a football game. I think this team is grasping the offense...

Houston isn't a good D, but maybe seeing how the defense is supposed to work, in a real game jogged something loose. They played great today, against a studly defense.

Now if only we can get everyone firing on all cynlinders we're going to be a top team...

I said last week that I hoped that Houston would be a spark for this offense. That spark got the engine going this week.

I can understand being wary of Mark Brunell, I can understand wanting him on the bench, I can even understand being frustrated with him...

But I can't understand not being able to stand him, or disliking him.

He seems like a great guy, always puts the team first... how could you NOT like him?

976 yards of offense in two weeks.

Wanna pin every drop of offensive woe on the QB when he doesn't play well? Better acknowledge his performance when the team puts up nearly 1000 yards of offense in two weeks.

Mark is the master of giving his recievers room to run... we didn't win this game on Brunell's arm, but with his brain.

The line play against Jacksonville, on both sides of the ball, was outstanding and the O Line went against a top-notch defense ... just superb

Does he have to throw the ball for 40 yards in the air for him to get credit? I was ready for his head in week 2 but Ive give him his credit. He threw the ball and let his playmakers make plays. He can get the ball downfield, he overthrew Lloyd today.

It's not that I can't stand him as a person, I don't know him. I'm not sure how you say he puts the team first though. He has continuned to play hurt in the past, which has hurt the team.

For the most part, dcd said exactly how I feel. I have no problem ripping him when he plays poorly, but he did EXACTLY what he had to do taday and I thought it was GREAT. I'll be seeing that pass in my head for weeks....just PERFECT!

GREAT GAME MARK!!!!!!!!!!!

As I promised last week. I'm not saying anything negative about this team until after the bye week. At that time we'll see what kind of a team we have.

But ...

This week makes it HELLUVA lot easier to do that because Mark and Co. were dominant today.

No "ifs", "ands" or "buts" about it !!

CLL, I wasn't trying to take credit away from Mark Brunell...

I was just giving credit to how smart he is.

He used to be a scrambler and instead of relying on running (like Vick) learned instead to make quick decisions inside and outside the pocket.

In addition, Mark sees the whole field, not only identifying the open man, but the one who has the best chance to gain the most yards.

I can only hope that Jason Campbell, a kid more physically gifted than Mark Brunell is learning these things from Mark who, from the sound of his ES interview, is JC's biggest fan. (Jesus AND Campbell!)

PS- Fios, I agree 100%... the line play was awesome. No sacks today, good average yards per rush... and, as someone observed in the gameday chat, linemen were high fiving after big runs by CP... sounds like they are a really close unit.

Well said BH. What more can the man do to gain some respect? If nothing else, the way he played today, especially after the Jags came back, and in OT, simply HAS to convince those naysayers that Brunell should be the QB for now.

I've bashed him, and I'll praise him when he plays a solid game, like today. He was good today, with a 117 passer rating vs. the No. 3 defense in the league - impressive stuff. Still, some of that credit has to go to the WRs, who had phenomenal YACs (yards after catch). I heard the announcers say that Brunell didn't complete a pass deeper than 19 yards through the air, but it was Moss and company making big plays after the catch which boosted Brunell's numbers into the stratosphere.

People just wanna see those long arching bombs for the television viewers, but does it really matter how the yards pile up, as long as they pile up? Saunders has said it many times that his goal is to 'get the ball in the hands of playmakers' and let them make plays'. That's what he did today, and last week against Houston. I think if anything it shows how good Saunders and Gibbs can game plan cuz they utilize the strengths of the playmakers and do whats necessary. I personally don't care whether the ball travelled ninety yards in the air or five yards, if it's a "play", then I'm satisfied!! Last I checked, there's no statistic or prize for which QB makes the ball travel the most in the air. The end result is what counts, and not how far the ball travelled in the air.

No, KC's Damon Huard put up a 133 (18/23, 208, 2/0), according to NFL.com. He, like Brunell, had some help from a solid running game (101 yds. for Larry Johnson, 125 total).

I don't disagree with any of that - points are points, and I'm not arguing with how they were earned. However, I think the WRs need to be credited with turning short passes into big gains; it wasn't just Brunell out there.

JPFair, there will always be a "still," a "but," or a "however" attached to praise given to Brunell. The fact of the matter is that he's old, and so he's only got so many games left in him. In addition, when Brunell performs well, so does the rest of the offense. The chicken-egg element of this makes it so that praise (or blame!) can always be passed around. The "still"s, "but"s, and "however"s will continue, but in my opinion they hold little sway.

As for me, there is no such thing as a "however" when talking about Brunell today. There can only be an "AND ALSO." So for example:

* "Brunell had a great game today, but still he had help from a running game that was solid."
* "Brunell had a great game today, and also we had a running game that was solid."

I don't know if everyone will see that difference, but I for one don't think that different parts of our offense ever perform in spite of each other. My 2 cents
