ESPN-----DE Marques Douglas, Baltimore (draft pick compensation: none): Former undrafted free agent had played in just eight games, with one start, before starting all 16 contests in '03. He had 89 tackles and 4½ sacks playing in the Ravens' 3-4 front, and might emerge even more in a conventional 4-3 scheme. Seems on the cusp, at age 27, of becoming a player who could notch 8-10 sacks annually.
I know Marques personally. He is a frat brother of mine, and I was his advisor while he was an undergraduate at Howard University. You will not find a guy that works harder, and with higher character than Marques. The only reason why I give my Ravens fans friends any slack, is because he plays for them. He was named the 2003 Ravens Courage Award winner
He has shown his willingness to do whatever it takes having gone over to NFL Europe and leading the league in sacks that year. He was released during his first stint with the Ravens and went down to New Orleans and played a while before getting an injury. He now has played his way into the starting rotation for the Ravens. I was not aware that he is an unrestricted free agent though.

he's a restricted free agent, meaning that if the skins make him an offer, the ravens will have the opportunity to match it. the upside is that there is no draft pick compensation if the skins do sign him. given his apparent high level of character, i'm wondering why joe gibbs hasn't taken a closer look at him.

Coach Gibbs is probably just not aware of him. Quite a bit of the time, talent out of "small" schools like Howard often go unnoticed. He currently holds the all time sacks record at HU. Don't remember how many that was. He had his fair share of sacks last year for the ravens, but more importantly, he plays the run well, and has told me that after going up against Jonathan Ogden every day in practice, that he is prepared for anybody in the league. If anyone from the Redskins is reading this and are interested in him, I can give you his number because I believe that he would be an excellent acquisition for the $$$.
gosh, i hope that's not true. i have an image of joe gibbs and his staff sitting in a room into the wee hours of the night evaluating every restricted and unrestricted free agent out there. so i would venture to guess that his staff has looked at douglas.
now, this may come to all of us a suprise, but i think that joe might know more about who should be on his football team than we do *gasp!*. so who knows, maybe joe sees (or doesn't see) something in douglas that we can't see. or, it may just come down to money, as it often does.
from what i'm hearing though, it sounds like it would be worthwhile taking a closer look at him.

joe gibbs is well aware of what is out there.so do i think the skins should look into him, sure it doesn,t hurt to look beside s i,m sure joe has already looked him up well before fat lenny.p did.
and they still seem to think the game has passed him by:
well i don,t think so.
