Week 3 Hognostications Winner

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Week 3 Hognostications Winner

Post by BossHog »

As I said at the beginning of the week, this week's best Hognosticator would get a pair of free tickets to the Washington caputals preseason game on Fridany night against the Flyers.

Even though it's only Monday morning, the result is already known.

Code: Select all

Pos Poolmeisters         W  L  T    Pct.  T/B  Result

  1 cvillehog           11  2  0    84.6  36   Winner
  2 CLL                 10  3  0    76.9  28   **
  3 TincoSkin           10  3  0    76.9  30   **
  4 skins2win           10  3  0    76.9  34   **
  5 Jake                10  3  0    76.9  40   **
  6 airhog              10  3  0    76.9  47   **

There are five playrs tied at 10-3 just one game back of cvillehog, but ALL of them have atlanta tonight in the Monday nighter. So irregardless of what happens in tonight's game, cvillehog is this week's Hognostications champion and the lucky winner of two tickets to the Caps game on Friday.

The tickets are right behind the net, just above the glass... pretty much within spitting distance of the ice. They are in section 116, our seats are in sections L through N, so that's 14 rows or less from the ice. Here's a link to the seating chart on the Caps website:

http://www.washingtoncapitals.com/tickets/seating.asp

Click on section 116 of the map to see a 'virtual shot' of the ice from the section... to be honest, i think you'll be closer to the ice surface than the camera shot is from, but it will give you a good idea of just how close you are. I think this shot is taken from the top of the section, and you should be within 4 or 5 rows of the glass in row N. Great vantage point for that end of play and the best seat in the house on power plays... you'll get a real idea of the 'shape' of a penalty kill (the box) from your seats... and a great view of how the power play unit tries to work the puck around that box.

Obviously THN is very thankful to the Capitals for giving us the tickets, and we hope that you all will get out to a Caps game this year and support the team. We have some more promotional stuff coming with the Caps, so stay tuned. The Hognostications winner will be joining as many as 18 other THNers for the game, and I hope that you all have a great time. I'm pretty jealous.

Congratulations cvillehog, just PM JansenFan to find out about getting your tickets.

Congrats cville.

As for the penalty kill, why is it that when there is a two man advantage, the team with the advantage moves closer to the goal, basically allowing the three defenders to better cover the 5 offenders. I realize any shot you take is closer to the goal, but it seems to me, you could maintain the normal distance and spread the defenders until someone was wide-open in front of the net.

Sorry, way off topic, but BH mentioned the box and I had to ask.

I just want to add that the environment is completely family friendly. I don't know how old your girls are or the age at which they need a ticket but if you could put one on each lap then it's not a bad experience for them either! ;-)

Oh and congrats. I am trying to figure this hognostications thing out.
