I think getting Brunell permanently to pine or even further away from the action would be worth a loss to Houston. Unfortunately, I don't think a loss to Houston, a goose egg on the board, and another QB rating of about 26 (before junk time) will make an impression on Redskin management.

I would like to think that Synder could order the coaches/or coach to bench
Brunell like he ordered Spurrier to bench Danny Awful, but Gibbs' contract eliminates that course of action.

But it's either Brunell or the playcalling at this point

If this offense doesn't rack up at least 30 points next week, with Brunell under center, then I'll be calling for Al Saunder's head!

Call all you want. there were multiple times people were open and Brunell didn't see it. The protection was bad and that could be the line not being comfortable with the offense but Brunell held the ball longer than Ramsey too many times tonight. Oh, and I like the way he threw it away on every series except for that pass to Cooley. If there was any time to throw it away that was it. He never threw it downfield when it was 3rd and long. Only when we are in field goal and can still put points on the board. Brilliant!

Look on the bright side.

The Skins are only 1 game behind the lead in the NFC East. The year is not over. The season has not ended.

We have a long way to go.

Hopefully, when Portis and Springs get back into the lineup, we'll actually see this "magic offense" that I have yet to see.

I don't want to start a QB controvery, but if Brunell doesn't play any better in subsequent weeks...after Portis returns...I hope we see Jason Campbell get his shot.

There, I said it.

The main purpose of this post, however, is to try to get all of you to keep your heads up. We're still in it.

Don't you feel even a "little bit guilty" for picking the Cowpies ? Some say this is a bad omen when Skins fans pick against the Skins - especially when they play their most hated rival ?

But yes...I do agree...we're only ONE game back in our division so it's not quite as bad as it seems.

Guilty? Not at all! I don't believe in Omens or crap like that.

I believe in good OL play, good DL play...good play all around. If we had that, "omens" wouldn't be an issue.

As far as the Hognostications are concerned, I pick the teams I expect to win. Don't look now, but it may not be the last time I pick against the Skins. I don't like it when I do, but.......

And for you guys who want to play JC, well your just flat out wrong.

If wanting Campbell to play now is wrong, then I don't want to be right.

Are you like a secret Dallas or NY Giants fan? How can you say it's wrong to want Campbell to play. Brunell is playing the worst of any QB in the league not named Kerry Collins, and he looks physically unable to perform his job. Campbell is a first round pick in his second year, and we are going to have to take the leap sometime.

Would you rather have Brunell limp us through a wasted season and then waste next year developing JC? The future is now, please Joe, put the kid in!!!

to see Jason Campbell... Mark Brunell obviously isn't the future of the Redskins. Hell, I'd take 70 year old Sonny Jurgensen over Brunell. At least Sonny wouldn't be afraid to throw the football down the field.

I guess the pre-season was a pretty good indication of what kind of team the Skins are this year. We've had seven straight loses including the playoffs and preseaon. And the Skins looked like a team that didn't believe they could win last night. I don't care what Gibbs says in his press conference. Zero swagger. And in that light, I hope Gibbs does something as gutsy as benching Ramsey last year. I don't care what it is, from bringing in Campbell too early, or making a crazy trade, or whatever. Seven straight loses is the start of trend, and is bad for my emotional health!

gibbs should not even have the choice not to play campbell, because it isn't even a choice. anyone who thinks brunell should actually be playing QB needs to be institutionalized, and i mean that literally, i seriously worry about the mental health of anyone who thinks that. so if our COACH thinks that when 98% of the rest of the world can realize it's INSANE, someone has to step in and put a stop to it. we don't deserve to suffer through a repeat of 2004.

saunders should DEMAND the benching, or quit. he can get a job anywhere else he wants. it's not fair to him to have his offense and his reputation ruined by how awful MB is.

Why are we the only team in this league that has paid for all of this hype.... Look around the league.

-- What other team(s) has millions wrapped up into coaches?

-- What other team(s) overpays for a safety that didn't want to come here (Chicago was first choice but we offered him tons more money he'd be the village idiot to turn it down) and couldn't cut it in St. Louis?

-- What other team(s) takes a defensive end off the worst team in the league and pays him a ton of money?

-- What other team(s) hold on to a QB as feabile is Brunell?

-- What other team(s) defense becomes non-existent because one got darn guy is out (Springs)?

-- What other team(s) has spent millions at WR and don't throw them the ball?

-- What other team(s) has players that they let go and go on to other teams to become stars?

Hey. This week is just what the doctor asked for.

The skins have no pass rush. But they are heading to Houston. That's a good place for a pass rush to get some confidence. David Carr has been sacked so many times they don't bother counting anymore.

Houston can't run the ball. Hey! Good time for Salavea and crew to figure out why they can't plug the middle and gain some confidence.

The Redskins' offense is confused and needs a soft scrimmage-quality opponent to straighten itself out against. PERFECT! Houston's defense was awful last year and isn't much better this year.

The coaching staff is a bit discombobulated. Well Gary Kubiak has only coached 2 games in the NFL. Perfect! If you are going to make a couple mistakes...well make them against a rookie.

If the skins go at it hard this week...this upcoming game will be the turnaround for the season, and a month from now, we won't be worried about Brunell's problems and whatnot, b/c the skins will be cruising.

Why does that matter? It isn't "wrapped up" in the sense that it could be spent elsewhere or is hindering efforts to sign players

-- What other team(s) overpays for a safety that didn't want to come here (Chicago was first choice but we offered him tons more money he'd be the village idiot to turn it down) and couldn't cut it in St. Louis?

Other teams overpay for safeties that don't want to come to D.C. but do anyway? Wow, I totally don't get the salary cap

-- What other team(s) takes a defensive end off the worst team in the league and pays him a ton of money?

Um ... I don't know

-- What other team(s) hold on to a QB as feabile is Brunell?

Is feabile the equivalent of fly vomit? Oh, and Dallas and Green Bay

-- What other team(s) defense becomes non-existent because one got darn guy is out (Springs)?

NON existent? Oh my lord I am hallucinating again, I totally imagined that the 'Skins fielded a defense last night ... my hallunications suck

-- What other team(s) has spent millions at WR and don't throw them the ball?

The Raiders ... oh wait, good point

-- What other team(s) has players that they let go and go on to other teams to become stars?

Um ... how do I say this ... try every team in the league since the inception of free agency

I think another bright spot of last night's game was John Hall's 39 yard field goal. We're really going to need him to play well this year. Hopefully it gave him some confidence.

You know what, let's stop making excuses and saying it's only two games.

Name me how many coaches in pro sports are successful a second time around? Two: Scotty Bowman (hockey); Phil Jackson (basketball); None in Football.

So what Joe Gibbs got his bust in the Hall? If that really mattered, then why are these players not performing on the field? Why is the offense so inept now? One would think that him being a Hall of Famer would be enough for these guys to player harder and better.

Come now guys.... You got a O-Coordinator that has a scoring offensive mind but we are not using it. Why? Because you got a old-azz QB that can't run it. Right now, we got the most formible WR corp in Football with Moss, Randle-El, Lloyd and Patton. Do you know if we had a decent QB that could get them the ball and run Saunders' offense, it would be the "greatest show on" 2. Defense's would have to call timeout to adjust when they see all four of those receivers coming out of the huddle. That would open up the run and once you have those two things clicking, you become unstoppable.

Also, it's like it's a crime for loyal Redskin fans to question what is going on here. Oh, you are overreacting..... Joe Gibbs has his bust in Canton..... It's only the second game....... So what, even the best don't always get it done and right now, Joe Gibbs and his crew ain't. He is not perfect and can make mistakes.

This is my opinion as a fan, which I feel that I am entitled to.

While I'm not a Brunell fan, we have to remember that Trent Green is the same age as Brunell, and he ran the Al Saunders offense to perfection for the past 5 years.

I'm seriously pissed off about last night's game because our O-line was a joke. Jansen got too many holding calls. They couldn't hold back the Dallas pass rush at all. I don't who's under center, nobody would have had time to make the passes last night.

I don't know what happened to the swing passes last night, but they would have done much better to calm down the pass rush with the quick hits.

They could have used quick hitches to open up the run, which would open up the playaction down the field.
Every Sunday, I root for two teams: The Redskins, and anyone playing the Cowboys

As Joe always says, human nature is still human nature. He needs to start pushing the right buttons with these guys to help them perform at a higher level.

Losing, like winning, is contagious, and right now, the team is struggling to rid itself of the losing bug.

Right now, we got the most formible WR corp in Football with Moss, Randle-El, Lloyd and Patton.

Funny. Patton went from bum in the offseason to part of the greatest show on turf part deux???? And, yes, it's a HUGE leap to say we have the most "formidable" WR corps in the league, IMO.

Also, it's like it's a crime for loyal Redskin fans to question what is going on here.

Actually, it's more embarassing than anything to hear everyone crying like the season is over after beginning 0-2. Really, to hear some "fans" here, we might as well start positioning for the #1 overall pick in the draft.

As for having your opinion, yes, you are entitled to it, just as those who disagree are entitled to post in response (or even contrary ) to it.

is that Joe Gibbs is running the show. I trust him and the coaching staff to get this turned around. Whether that'll happen this year or next, I don't know, but he's the guy I want "under the hood" working on the problem.

Gibbs is in the Hall of Fame because he is the one coach who won without an A-lister behind the center. His skill lifted Brunell types to new heights. By hiring Saunders, it was the first step in admitting it's a new era and his mogo isn't the same as it used to be - it's still there, but not as the guru of bad QB's anymore.

And that's why he hired Al. Don't blame Gibbs if Campbell stays 3rd string. It's up to Al to make the offense work and to make the call.

As fans, we have no control. All of us saw problems. The reason some of us point to the positives is just to give some hope to ourselves that the Redskins are better than the team we saw last night, because frankly, none of us can watch 16 games like last night.
