AA

Post by JonC56 »

been a while since my last post and feel like venting.

AA has been flat out horrible. He cant tackle and consistetly takes the wrong angle. He is just a glorified matt bowen with a great work out plan. He would make a better a strenth coach then safety. He actually gets me more upset then the play of brunell. I just cant understand what we saw in this guy to give him that contract.

ok, im done.

i'm not sure he was quite as bad as we are thinking, but i wouldn't be surprised if he were. anyways, i don't understand what on earth we were thinking blowing up the pass defense depth this offseason. the guys we had last year were decent, the guys we've replaced them with seem to basically be absolutely horrible so far.

i'll agree with you there. It seems that our defensive "upgrades" have not panned out this year. Its still very early so hopefully AA, Carter and the rest of the defense can turn this trin around!

yeah... i can understand wanting to add a pass rusher and such... but what was SOOOO bad about the depth in the secondary? it seemed like we cut them all before we even looked around to see if there was anyone any better available. and then we were like "...oh, crap. everyone available sucks..."

We've gotten suckered again and given away the good to acquire the bad.

I'm a little stunned. I thought AA had a very commendable game against the Pukes.

hate to say I told you so, but I TOLD YOU SO... the RAMS blew a kiss good bye to AA when he left, and their defense was terrible... if he were here in StL this year, he would not be starting... the guy in his place, Atogwe, is just a way better player... Arch can do more push-ups though...

I think so too but I can see where some people think his performance thus doesn't = his price tag.

Isn't he the highest paid safety in the league? I can't remember is exact number, but I think it's up there. What is his price tag exactly?

AC and AA have not played well so far, I can't argue against that. To conclude after two games they have not "panned out this year" seems a little premature though.

I understand they signed big contracts and expectations go high when you do that and I can't defend their play at this point. But I think they deserve more chance than this.

carter has not looked good. at all. i'm hoping he'll settle in a bit.

arch has looked better, but i just don't understand why we aren't blitzing him. he's like a wrecking ball on blitzes. maybe gregg doesn't want to leave the corners 1 on 1 while springs is still out.

the only thing aa did well on sun was miss a easy tackle which allowed taylor to force a fumble. He takes the wrong angle every play it seems like. Terribly frustrating to watch.

Archuleta has REALLY disappointed me throughout the preseason and the first two games. He hasn't lived up to his hype he brought over from St. Louis.

Carter hasn't looked that bad, moreso ineffective or nonexistent in the pass rush. Plus that holding call against Fasano looked so obvious and horrible.

We all knew when we signed Archuletta that he couldn't cover a quarter if he sat on it.

But he HAS made 20 total tackles so far, with 3 assists. Roy Williams has half that, Rodney Harrison, Darren Sharper and a whole host of other elite safties aren't coming close to his total tackles so far. He's doing something right.

Aren't safeties supposed to prevent completions first? I'd prefer a safety who only made 2-3 tackles per game because he had 10+ pass deflections. I think his high tackle count only confirms the notion that he's not a great cover guy.

IMO....Archuletta is a decent NFL player...very good on special teams...ok as a run supporting safety, below average in pass coverage.

The issue with him is obviously the contract. I don't think you could find anyone outside the Redskins organization that would tell you (with a straight face) that we didn't overpay for him. Most people think that we GROSSLY overpaid for him.

Personally, I'm very disappointed that we spent so much on him, especially considering how important the cap is in today's NFL, and what we are going to have to shell out to Keep Taylor signed in the next couple years.

He spends a lot of time down in the box on run support, I think this is why he was brought in

And the fact that our d-line and linebackers can't stop the run if their life depended on it.

Why would we want to keep Taylor? Just because it seems like he is the only one out there trying to keep us in the game?

I was somewhat serious. I didn't mean that Snyder couldn't afford him, I was referring to the cap. To make Archuleta the highest paid safety in the league is a joke, especially when he's playing opposite Taylor, a much better player.
