The Bright Side

Post by Justice Hog »

Okay, folks, looking forward.

Look on the bright side.

The Skins are only 1 game behind the lead in the NFC East. The year is not over. The season has not ended.

We have a long way to go.

Hopefully, when Portis and Springs get back into the lineup, we'll actually see this "magic offense" that I have yet to see.

I don't want to start a QB controvery, but if Brunell doesn't play any better in subsequent weeks...after Portis returns...I hope we see Jason Campbell get his shot.

There, I said it.

The main purpose of this post, however, is to try to get all of you to keep your heads up. We're still in it.

All we need is an O-Line and a D-Line.

And of course our Defense got owned late, they pretty much played the whole game.

And for you guys who want to play JC, well your just flat out wrong.

Not with old man Brunell trying to lead the offense. He looked absolutely bewildered tonight. He needs to step aside, I saw it in his eyes tonight.

What's most discouraging is that the injuries are at positions where we're supposed to be strongest. Every team needs to have three corners on its roster that can handle man coverage, and the Redskins had better-than-average depth at tailback before trading for Duckett. So, insofar as injuries are a fact of life in the NFL, that's a huge cause for concern--the next guy who goes down will be less replaceable than Springs or Portis.

Luckily, it's only week 2. Losing two conference games is bad, but not insuperable. But it's either Brunell or the playcalling at this point; one of them's got to change. Maybe a switch picks up enough to cover a defense that just isn't going to be as good as it was the last two years. Maybe that's enough.

At least the Skins have an easier opponent next week. Here's hoping there's some signs of life.

I agree, there is no bright side. A loss is a loss. I don't even want to think about how many games we are behind in our division.
I do not seem to understand our offensvie scheme. Saunders is not supposed to be afraid of passing the ball, so why is he calling such plays??? Yes, Redskins football is smash mouth run it all day...but you know what? Its not working. We have 89, 85, 82, 47 for a reason. Pass it to them. If 8 can't get the job done, bring in a double digit player. Yes, I'd take 17 or even 15 sooner or later. We should probably not over-react and demand Campbell to come in NOW but if Brunell doesn't have a good game against the sorry Texans, he better be ready to get benched.

There is no bright side. The only thing I am happy about is we didn't get shut out. Thank you Rock for providing the one and only respectable play that brougth us some points. I guess you could call that the bright side, but that's pretty sad for the Redskins organization and its fans.

Not with Brunell. He's done. Play the kid now for our best chance this season and easily our best chance next season.

And Brunell apologists, don't start crowing if he's half-decent against Houston - it's Houston. They make anyone look good.

Hey JH.......In all seriousness If this offense doesn't rack up at least 30 points next week, with Brunell under center, then I'll be calling for Al Saunder's head!!! The Texan's defense has been the worse defense in the league for about three years running. Gibbs was #11 last year in offense with Brunnell at quarterback. If Saunders can't get Brunnell to like his system..........I don't want to start over. Gibbs has two years left. Just bring Gibbs' offense back. His offense set TWO TEAM RECORDS LAST YEAR!!!! On rushing and recieving! With the addition of Lloyd and Randel El I'm sure our offense will be dynamite with Gibbs. That is just my two cents.......

There was only one bright spot in this game, Rock Cartrights return. I think the announcers had it right, the offense was inept. What happened to being aggressive with all of these fast receivers. The only pass thrown for more than 20 yards was intercepted. I exclude the last possession since it was just a time killer.

Quarterback controversy? Excluding the last drive, Brunell had a quarterback rating of 26.6. Nah, there can be no controversy when we didn't have a quarterback playing tonight.

Am I upset about the loss? .... Not as much as I am about the poor showing of both the offense and defense in the first 2 games of the season. So far, it is just an extension of the pre-season. INEPT!!!

We just aren't going anywhere with Brunell.

I used to support the guy but that's how I feel right now.

It breaks my heart.

I agree with you Redskins Rule.......Gibbs offense was beginning to take shape last year. With the addition of Randel El and Lloyd......adding more talent to the process would have been the way to go instead of starting from scratch with a completely new offense.

But where is the defense??? Springs or no Springs.....no excuse for allowing a 4th quarter 99 yard drive when the game is still in reach.

How badly would the Cowgirls have beaten us if they had had a decent quarterback and hadn't dropped eleven passes?

Yeah, he really set the tone for the defense tonight. They were punishing those Cowpie receivers.

if brunell isn't benched, and we beat houston next week, that will be the worst possible thing that could happen to the redskins. that will buy brunell at least another 3-4 weeks. if the coaches are foolish/insane enough to play him next week, we need to lose so they get desperate enough to make the switch.

the bright side as i see it, is that despite how absolutely pitiful brunell was, the defense still somehow managed to keep us in the game for a pretty good while. they still have a long way to go, and the penalties were just ridiculous, and the cowboys mostly stopped themselves with drops... but whatever way we got it, we were still theoretically in the game most of the way.

i think i'm being way too optimistic by even thinking that, but if i have to try and think of a bright side, that'd be it. i don't even really care about the kick return TD, it was awesome but you can't count on those every week.

i would rather go 0-3 and have hope for the rest of the season than be 1-2 and staring at 2-7 before we make the QB switch, with the season already way out of hand.

I never pull for a loss, but if losing to the Texans would give MB his walking papers I'd buy a Mario Williams jersey.
