Vanderjagt as new kicker?
It would be one thing if this was John Hall's first miss of his tenure here in Washington, but it's not. He's missed several field goals and lost us several games.
Word is Vanderjagt wants out of Dallas, and while I'm not necessarily a fan of the guy, there's a good bet that he wouldn't have hooked the game-tying FG to Cleveland as Hall did last night.
Any thoughts?

Have you see Vanderjagt kick lately??? I think he's back on the bottle. I would rather have Nick Novak, less money, good guy, solid kicker. Vanderjagt wouldn't of hooked that kick last night, he would of pushed it right. Did we play Cleveland last night??? My day just keeps getting worse.

No??? How 'bout Chip Lohmiller?
I was at the Skins/49ers game last year where they thumped Alex Smith and Co.
I think Novak might not be a bad idea. He's a local too.

Martin Automatica?
He did a great job kicking with the Patriots in preseason, but he was in a bad position. He was told he had to vastly out produce his rookie competition in camp to win the job, but he didn't... he out produced him, but not enough to beat potential.
He used to be a guy with a pretty big leg (over 50% on 50+) and 80% total, with good distance on kickoffs. He might be worth a try out.

Kicking like you're in the hallway is almost like a compliment... it can only go straight...

Novak should have never been let go. It all comes down to reliability. Novak has made the kicks when he was asked to. He had some blocked, however, that is more of a coaching issue. (perhaps there was a breakdown on the O-line, or something mechanically that he as a rookie could address to get more height on a long kick)...what the heck are we paying the Special Teams coach for if he can't coach a rookie with promise to be a formidable NFL kicker.
I am a fan of developing talent and promoting from within....I think a team with guys like A Pierce, Lemar Marshall, Novak, Cooely, and Taylor, is better than one with so called established 'big names' who are in the waning period of their career.
John Hall comes into the latter category...and moments like this make you detest him and the salary he makes...while a guy like Novak did the job for less money and had upside.

Hey guys...I might not be an upgrade over John Hall, but I am available to kick!!! I can miss all the big Field Goals for cheaper than Hall...therefore I am the logical choice.
Sign me...I will take league minimum, then I can duplicate Hall's production...I won't kick off, and I will miss my kicks....but at least we can sign another punter or O-lineman right?
Disclaimer: Oh, by the way...I am a kicker with Quad made of ramen noodles...so when I get hurt, you'll have to sign someone else. But don't be a step ahead of the game and just sign that guy now.....keep believing in me...hey at least you know im gonna miss ...it saves the suspense.

If Grammatica's got the leg back, I think he would be a decent idea for the PK. And with the new NFL rules about celebrations (a.k.a. the "Steve-Smith-Chad-Johnson-T-O Oppression" Rule), we shouldn't have to worry too much about him blowing out his knee in a leap.
P.S. I'm not a fan of excessive celebrations. I miss the days of the Barry Sanders' "I've been here before" treatment of a touchdown by tossing the ball back to the referree.

Actually, you're both wrong..It was and always willbe Chip Loh "and to the left" Miller
At this point I wouldn't care. I just don't want Hall anymore. I never wanted Frost in the first place.

Jake summed up my feelings perfectly.
We need a new kicker. This has gone on long enough. Right now we have a guy whose injury prone, not trustworthy from over 40 yards, and doesn't even handle the kickoffs.
Why would any team keep such a player?

I know that Ihave already posted this but it bears repeating.
JOHN HALLIS THE WORST KICKER IN THE NFC! This is not opion it is simple fact. He has the worst career kicking average of any veteran kicker in this conference.
I thought that he would cost us 1 or 2 games this year! Well 1 down. I know you can't blame the whole loss on him, but an ugly miss at the end of the game. Not to mention the kick the Frost kicked to the 18 that got returned to midfield and pretty much gave the Vikes a FG before the half. The was Hall's fault too because the caoches are scared to use his often injured butt (actually leg, but close enough) for fear of hurting him. I say we could only be so lucky!

We need a new kicker, we need a new kicker or he lost us the game. SHEESH. Thats all I am hearing. If we need a new kicker then we need a new oline, dline, cornerbacks, quarterbacks, etc... Face the whole team lost the game, not jus Hall.If Novak was still able to produce then HE would be on a team. KICKERS dont grow on trees! If the Redskins cant win in the environment of 90000 fans with patriotic energy flowing through the whole stadium on opening nite, then damn it they dont deserve to win! Retool and be ready on Sunday nite against them cowgirls.
