That might be, but at what expense? A loss? We could have gone to 20-25 yard passes. I just seemed that with the talent the recievers have, it wasn't used to it's potential.

I just can't believe Gibbs would risk a loss just to 'hide' plays from Dallas. This league is just too even to risk it, and games matter too much, as we learned last year, when we had to finish perfect to make the post-season. No team has gone 0-16 in a long time, and you'd hate to be the one team which underestimates and thus loses to a pathetic team like the Texans or 49ers.

Even if he was, which he's not, one would think a loss against a bad team (Raiders) last year would've cured that problem. I don't buy this 'don't show too much' stuff for the regular season.

I agree with you, which frustrates me even more, because clearly, we could have passed all over the Viking secondary. I just am at a loss for words as to why they didn't pass more.

just makin sure everyone knows, regarding our o line play last night.

Erasmus James DE - 2005 first round pick
Kenechi Udeze DE - 2004 first round pick
Kevin Williams DT - 2003 first round pick

That is 3/4 the vikes starting d line, and pat williams (other dt) isnt a pushover either, we wont be going up against that every week, just a small point.

that's just an excuse... I'm sure other teams will find a way to beat Minnesota, but we couldn't... and they had a lot more to overcome than we did being on the road on a Monday night with a new offense and a new defense... we're great about coming up with excuses...

They were a good D line but we could go right down the field on them it seemed when we absolutely HAD to.....like everytime Minnesota scored. But when we got the ball back up 13-6, its like we just sat on the lead and didnt even try to stretch it out....as we all know, you keep any NFL team in a game, they will break your spirit. This is so disappointing. Does anyone hate Brunell as much as i do? Campbell needs to play. I dont care if he makes mistakes he will help this team. Brunell makes me nautious. So does John Hall....the guy who has never made a crucial kick over 40 yards in his Redskins career and then i have to watch the SD kicker in the game after make 45 yarders like it was a chip shot. If you gave Hall 10 of those same kicks, i would bet he makes less than 2 of them. He is a bum!

I am all for dumping Hall and going after another kicker, but who is out there to sign? What the Skins ought to have done is to have gone after Vanderjagt, or even Longwell this past offseason. Longwell looked impressive to me last night. He hit from 46 and 31, and the 46 yarder had a good 10-15 yards left in it. Big mistake in not looking into upgrading at PK.

Their D line had nothing to do with us getting totally dominated in the 4th quarter by their offense. We caught a bunch of breaks in that game and still couldnt win because we have a lousy QB and a lousy kicker. Bad combo. As bad as the defense played, they only gave up 19 points.....Al saunders teams avg over 25 points the last 5 yrs....can someone please tell me what Brunell does good?

in all seriousness though, brunell isn't terrible. he is what all his lovers say-- a good "game manager" (most of the time). he does a great job of keeping the game close, putting us in a position to win at the end.

...but doesn't anyone else see a problem with that? if you try to wait until the last time you have the ball to win the game, your chances are NOT GOOD. what percentage of drives end in a score? then why would you want to put it all on one drive at the end of the game??? it's a completely nonsensical, cowardly way to play football. you need to keep building a lead and force the other team to work their butts off to catch up.

I miss the days when the Skins blew out their opponents, so that there would be no doubt at the end of the game.

So do i....Gibbs teams used to have me watching the end of other games because of the beatdowns we used to put on teams....things are different now unfortunately. I just cannot get over his love for Brunell and what he sees....here he has this beast on the sidelines that has done nothing but win games andwin championships in high school and in college but won't trot him out there when we need him desperately. As much i Gibbs is a God, i cant understand his reasoning. If i wanted a QB to just manage a game, i certainly wouldnt pay him the millions that bum is getting....he is done! Why cant Joe see this?

Kilmer wore #17, Williams wore #17, and now Campbell wears #17. Maybe I am a little supersticious, but that isn't bad company to be in. I agree, play him. He can't do any worse than Brunnell. Eventually, Gibbs will be forced to make a change, especially if we play like we did last night, or worse yet, get blown out by half time.

That's quite understandable...

Mursilis wrote:We actually topped Minn. in both total rushing yards (103) and per carry average (4.1). It was again the passing game which did not do enough.

Actually our running game was not as good as it seems from those stats. The big pickup Santanna had on the first play was technically a run since the "pass" from Brunell was really a lateral. This happened on several of the wide receiver screens we ran.

True, but CP was also 10 for 39 yards - a 3.9 yrd/carry average is nothing to complain about. I don't know why he wasn't used more. When he got it, he looked decent.
