yes unfortunately I can't control the fact that it is an auto responder and some iSPs and work filters just won't like that. That's why it's important that people check that their picks are 'in' the pool picks the day before the game.

And folks... this is another reminder... please only submit your picks ONCE. Some of you may not get a confirmation email right away (or not at all) but that's no reason to resubmit your picks again within five minutes. If you make picks and you see that I 'updated' since you made your picks and your picks weren't there, then by all means feel free to re-submit them... especially if you never got a confirmation.

Making your picks doesn't immediately enter them in the pool either... Texas Hog or myself have to enter them all... so also understand that your picks won't IMMEDIATELY show up on the website (though sometimes it will seem like it because we aim to try and update as often as is humanly possible.

Oh one more thing... joebagofdonuts... notice how your submission doesn't have a user name? Did ou forget or did something mess up? I only knew they were your picks because of your confirmation in here. Would you mind re-submitting your picks with your username so that I can check and make sure it was user error rather than a problem with the form. :wink:

I hope we can keep this type of participation up all season. If you get discouraged that your picks aren't going so well, just TRO-up and keep submitting them anyway.

I don't think they need to be entered into the pool to be talked about or compared to each week do they?

I think we'll have enough to do with getting everyone from THN's picks in without entering ghost picks for people as well.

If Peter King wants to be in the pool, then he can just click on the link to thehogs.net at the bottom of his CNNSI website, and join the pool himself can't he?

JSPB22- Don't know what to tell you other than I got your picks TWICE so the problem with the confirmation is assuredly at your end. But like i said... no big deal except that you won't get a confirmation of your picks and will want to check to make sure they have been entered each week by checking the day before the game.

Yeah I figured there would be a fair few who might see it get filtered or no see it at all. The picksheet uses an auto-responder to send your confirmation, and there will be many of you who may never receive a confirmation at certain email addies.

What we'll do once we get going is try to establish a pattern and schedule once we get things going and get a feel for the data handling. We'll set up set days of the week where we do updates to the Hognostications section... for example... we could maybe do an update on Monday or Tuesdays that would output the weekend results... one update on Thursday to update any picks already received for the week, and then one again on Saturday to enter the bulk of the picks.

This would allow both us as administrators and you as participants to be able to check your picks more conveniently.

So ultimately, if you are one of the people NOT getting confirmation e-mails, then your best bet would be to get your picks in by Wednesday so that if you don't see them come up in the Thursday update, then you know that you should re-submit your picks.

So far we've actually received all of the picks even when you don't get a confirmation... so I don't think you will have to worry about re-submitting them so much as just making sure that they are there. If an individual IS having trouble posting picks consistently for some reason... we'll come up with a 'backup' plan for them on an individual basis.

How does that sound?

It's not like we're hard to find or get a hold of anyway. There will still be Hognostication threads on the boards etc and as admins we will alwyas do our best to keep you informed as to what's going on in Hognostication land. We know that it's part of making the experience simple AND pleasurable, and i knew that it would require some effort to make this thing happen....

So bear with the little kinks and we'll have it right as rain in no time.
