For the first preseason game, this grill did a decent job. No complaints.
For the Ravens game, however, the grill had a really hard time getting up to 300 degrees and staying there. I thought it was the wind and when I blocked it, it got a little hotter....though not as hot as I expected.
I contacted the folks at Freedom Grill when I got back (the next day) and they said that in some early models, the "jet-valve" is too small which may effect the heat.
Well, they FED EXed me a bigger valve right away and I installed it. The folks at Freedom Grill tell me that should increase my grill's BTUs from around 11,500-12,000 to 16,000.
Can't wait to start cookin' on the hotter grill!
I said it once and I'll say it again, you just can't find better customer service than at Freedom Grill.

Redeemed, I'm bringing some extra food on Monday in case you decide to stop by. I usually bring beer, but if you want me to bring some other beverage for you, I certainly will. Let me know.
Oh, when I mean "beer", I mean "Miller Lite". I'm not usually a lite beer drinker, preferring Smithwicks myself; however, for football season, since I consume so much, I went "lite".

Hey, that's really nice of you. I'll certainly make the trek over to the cushy comforts of the purple lot.
What's the dress code, business casual? Perhaps a dinner jacket?

Back and better than ever!

Grilling is so damn tricky.
If you do it right the food tastes great but it's dang near impossible not to overcook everything.
A hotter grill might might that task more difficult.
It might seem like a waste of good beer, but if you have some extra Miller Light around, boil the brats and hot dogs in it before grilling.
Makes a world of difference.

Feel free to wear anything that will go with the most gawdy burgundy and gold truck on the lot!

Appreciate the insight, but I still don't think my grill will get too too hot. If it does, I'll cool it down to a medium heat.

They are great. I called them last year from the parking lot at FedEx on a Sunday and I got a call back within 15 minutes. The problem was wind-related and we had figured it out by then, but it's not often the CEO of a company calls you on Sunday to help troubleshoot a problem.
Not to mention, with the price of the FG-50 being comparable to any other grill these days, I can't think of a better investment. It can set up on a trailer hitch or it can set up on a table. We cooked with it on a plastic table and it was just fine. No problem with the heat on the plastic at all. Good stuff!
