Don't drink & prognosticate! -drinking

That's the only way to explain it. I can't even guess what they were thinking with that insanity. And they also picked Johnson over Brunell, and gave the edge to the Viking's RBs!! :-k I don't even know who the Vikes are starting in their backfield, but I doubt they're better than Portis and Duckett.

Speaking of stupidity from the press, check out SI's Don Banks:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/don_banks/08/30/nfl.notes/index.html

Apparently, the NFL's got our defense all figured out, because our preseason was so bad! Gibbs and Co. fooled him good!

Thanks for posting CLL.

Giving the Vikings the edge at coaching when their head man has never coached a game and our head man has won 3 Super Bowls is (no exaggeration here) the dumbest thing I have ever read from a sports journalist. And yes I realize the magnitude of that statement.

I'm not even including the fact that we have the best assistant coaches in the NFL. Even if Minnesota had a star studded roster of assistant coaches, giving a rookie head coach the edge over a 3-time Super Bowl would be absolute nonsense.

What a joke.

The funniest thing is that he gives Minnesota the edge at QB, RB, OL, DL, special teams, depth, and coaching but has us winning the game!

How do you figure that???

I don't understand how these guys get to be sportswriters.

Haha.

Now THAT was a great article.

I'll never understand these dummies, man. I wish I could just let it go but stupidity like that (especially when it involves my Redskins) really gets me worked up.

I didn't see a byline. Perhaps it was written by some kid in the mailroom, from Minneapolis, named Homer.

Looks to me like someone has a dartboard hanging in their office, sorry, cubicle. I love the fact that the edge goes to the Skins for linebackers and secondary, but pass rushers are even. Who do they think Greg Williams is going to deploy on pass rush?

One thing he got right is the prediction of the skins beating the vikes ... but I don't think the game will be a three point game.

Gibbs will not run up the score. He's looking ahead at week 2 @ Dallas and week 5 @ NYG so he will not show too much ... just enough to win.

Simply put, with the rare exception of a few journalists whose ability to assess the future of team depending on the talent they have, the whole system is a joke. If you can name me one, JUST ONE, who actually sticks to there guns when one of there picks hits rock bottom, I'd do some type of Salisbury bet...

I just laugh...in less than one week, we'll see whose right.

The problem with sports journalism and this is why I don't pay attention to them, my friends that are in the writing buisness tell me that its not how much they know, its how well they write and thats in everything not just sports, so you don't have to know sports at all to be a sports writer(I know you all know that when it comes to sports, from reading Peter King and Pastabelly), example Tony Kornheiser he originally didn't apply for a sports writing job, but since that was the only thing open he took the job because they said he was a good writer and he wrote about it. They also tell me sometimes they write some insane articles because they have to get readers attention and they will write about something ridiculous to get people to read it, even if there reading it because of how stupid it is, its still being read and they make more money as a result. Its not always there opinion also sometimes there told they have to write this opinion because they know readers will be like what, let me read this. I think the reason a lot of writers are picking the Cowboys is because people will be like no way, no line, statue Qb, and TO's attitude, so they write that they will so people will be like what let me see what he says. I know someone here wants to be a sports writer I think its Jake, I wil tell you this work on your writing they don't care how much you know, its how well you write.

So we shouldn't pay attention to ANY journalists? I almost agree.
