who do you all think it is, call me crazy well most people on this site already have but I think its Griffin, when he is gone teams run all over us and we get push up the middle. I know he's hurt know but I think he will be back against the Vikings.

Losing Jansen or Samuels would be devastating. Randy Thomas as well. O-line is too important. But on the defensive side I agree, Griffin is the linchpin.

I'm not even discussing this. Talk about a jinx for the last preseason game.

I'll nominate my man Sean Taylor.

When he was out against the Bucs in November, Chris Simms threw all over us.

I'd be especially worried about losing Sean now that we have Arhculette back there....

I agree that it is Corny. Our D seems to start with him dominating the Line.

If we are talking offense, I'd say Clinton...just look at what he meant for us down the stretch last year. I'm afraid if we lose him, then opposing D's will play a nickel zone on every play and bring heat on Brunell without regard to our running game.

Unfortunately, both Corny and Griffin are nicked up heading into week 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Griffin is great, no doubt, and his loss would be huge, but the most important player on the D? :-k Not sure I agree with that one. As already mentioned, what about Taylor? Marcus Washington? Springs or Rogers? Tough call, all of them.
Let's just hope this is strictly an academic discussion, and we'll not have to worry about it during the regular season.

Derrick Frost. No question about it. We just CANNOT, I repeat CANNOT afford to lose Derrick Frost.

Do you hear me?

Nope. We'd be in a world of hurt without him.

Anyone else agree?

We can least afford to lose the player with the weakest backup. I think (hope?) we have better depth at DT than we did last yr with additions of Montgomery & Golston & with Killings & Boschetti having more experience. I think we can survive any single injury. If they pile up like they did for our lines last yr, It's a major problem.

Griffin and Taylor for sure. When Griffin was out last season we had a hard time stopping the run and we were able to generate absolutely no pass rush whatsoever without blitzing. And when Taylor missed the game against Tampa Bay Chris Simms tore apart our secondary.

Shawn Springs.

I should've included him in my previous post as well. Losing Springs for more than a game or two would be pretty devestating to our defense. While Rogers has shown some promise, I don't think that he is as good as some people make him out to be and would struggle as our #1 corner at this point in his career, espeically considering the types of wide receivers that we will be playing against this season. Not to mention the fact that we have no depth whatsoever at cb.

Rogers IMO has done well thus far, he's drawn some BS calls from the zebras.

If last year was any indication, our defense looked completely different when Griff and(/or) Taylor were out. We look flat out exposed when teams can go up the middle on us and it allows teams to go over the top. Griffin has got to be one of the most underrated defensive players on this team and in the NFL.

When Griffin is playing, the defense plays much better. I say he is the anchor of the defense.
It all starts up front in the trenches.
