How not to step it up for the coach

Post by USS Redskin »

That's how the team reacts to the Coach calling them out last week for a terrible effort against the Jets? - lay a huge egg in NE - Where is the spirit on this team? The RB's were a joke and the QB protection was even funnier.
Who cares if they win a pre-season game but you at least want to see a little effort from your starters and score a few points.
Slap in the face of the coach.
Just beat Dallas - they are A-H****

My cousin who is a ravens fan always watches Skins games with me. He actually roots for them, so he's not too bad. Last night he said that he believes that chemistry is the problem.... Not chemistry as in they dont like each other but chemistry as in everyone is not on the same page.

I am watching the game on TV and the first half just got over. Our O-line looks terrible. Janson is getting beat on almost every play. They just don't look anything like the Patriots.

That is exactly what I see, they aren't playing as a TEAM. Remember the Ravens defense a few years back, how great they were, they didn't have many superstars, just great chemistry.

Jansen has not looked good the entire preseason. I'm beginning to wonder if his thumbs are still a problem. He's getting man-hhandled and he looks slow.

He's a fighter. He'll be ready when the bell sounds.

Okay, we all know how our guys have looked. I'm not going to worry about any of this until at least a few weeks into the regular season. But I am going to think about it non-stop until the Vikings game! Here is el Gnome's long winded take.

Offense: They've got the talent. They've got the coaches. But they've got an incredibly tough new system on offense after running the most basic offense in the league last year. Effectively they have a 'new' head coach on offense who is taking them from 1992 to 2006 and they look every bit like a team trying to adjust to a new head coach's demanding system. That one is on AL. Hopefully he'll tailor his playbook to work for his players until they can start to work within his vision.

Defense: Adam Archuletta and Kenny Wright haven't shown much from where I sit in my basement watching the replay of these games through a haze of cigar smoke. But that doesn't matter right now. What matters are injuries to Springs, Daniels and Griffin. Those three guys are the cornerstones of the D. Once they're back on the field they will dominate.

Special Teams: Guys who will 'start' on teams once the season starts are more focused on offense or defense right now - like Rock and Sellers. Once the season starts, those guys will put more focus on special teams and all will be well - with tackling and blocking. But frost hasn't stepped up and Hall isn't making his kicks. I'd look for this to be addressed in a big way by opening day. Fortunately, the waiver wire will put a few good candidates on the market over the next two weeks. I bet we have new punter but Hall stays put.

Coaches: I think Gibbs made an error in judgement starting training camp so late and then not putting them through the grinder. Not so much for the Defense, but the offense. I think that now. Around week twelve, when the Skins have come together as a team, and they're not as winded as others who've been at it harder for a month longer, I'll be glad for the error. But I bet Gibbs has already made a note to change the offseason for next season and he'll find a better middle ground.

Fans: No need to panic and certainly don't slam anyone but Frost at this stage. How many teams start the season 4-0 and end up not even making the playoffs much less look Super in the preseason? We won't know until week five what we've got for the year. And these players are too good, and our coaches too smart, for us to do anything other than have faith right now.
