Duckett Trade Details?????

Post by 1niksder »

Trade Details

In a complicated deal involving three teams Tuesday night, the Broncos traded their disgruntled wide receiver to Atlanta. The Falcons sent running back T.J. Duckett to Washington. The Redskins, in turn, will send what is the equivalent of a high third- round pick in the 2007 draft to the Broncos.

The exact compensation Denver receives will not be determined until after the season. There are four possibilities, based on the draft-value chart NFL teams use.

The scenarios are: The two teams exchange first-round picks, in which the Broncos would make a huge jump up the round; the teams flip-flop their first-rounders and the Broncos get a fourth-rounder in 2008; the teams flip-flop their first-rounders and the Broncos get a third- rounder next year; or the Broncos get a third-rounder in 2007 and a fourth-rounder in 2008.

The trade is not finalized. The NFL has to approve the trade, which is complicated when it comes to Denver's and Washington's portions of the deal. Lelie and Duckett also must pass physicals. Lelie, scheduled to fly from Denver to Atlanta today, said he would not comment until the deal is official.

The rest of the world is reporting a 3rd rounder only, I did read about a 4th round pick last night but I blew that off due to the fact that we don't have one next year, we do have one in 08 however.

Anyone have more details on the picks involved?
Anyone seen anything (outside of Denver) saying we gave up more than a 3rd to get Duckett?

i have not seen any official sources mention more than one draft pick -- nothing higher than a third for that matter. all the folks talking about us losing a first rounder are just people on message boards talking out their necks.

i don't think anyone aside from denver and the skins FOs know at this point what the deal involves. i too hope it does not involve us giving up a first rounder -- a flip flop i'd be fine with...

I read that too, but I think that was in Fat Lenny's article. I wrote it off as typical Pastabelly BS.

I think the first rounder talk is between denver and atlanta. We just gave our third to ATL for Duckett, from what I've read.
