Stomp Zone

Post by Justice Hog »

After having a little back-in-forth with Niki regarding the "Get Out of My Stadium" thread, I just wanted y'all to know what I did at last night's game...in the DREAM SEATS, Section 5:

Before the game, I stood up and yelled at everyone in my section (not too hard, it's kinda small.)

I said the following (actually, I yelled it):

"I want to welcome all of you to Section 5. Please keep one thing in mind. We are in the STOMP ZONE. That means that is the responsibility of each and every one of us to be as loud as we possibly can. If you cannot do this, please give your seat to someone else for upcoming games. If you can do this, I expect this section to get extemely loud when we need to be. Thanks, and go Redskins!"

I intend to give this speech before every game.

Hey good seeing you last night JH.

I thought the energy was very low during the game from the fans. A few factors were: preseason and a lot of non-season tickets holders attending, maybe 60% capacity, performance from the skins.

I sat in our new section 106 and I'd say in the first 5 rows of my section there were 35 empty seats.

When I started yelling for my team I had several people turn and look at me. I don't know if they were amused, encouraged or annoyed. I can be VERY load. Any way, come regular season they better be prepared for a full onslaught from the Hoss!!!!

Honestly, just okay.

Unlike regular season games, there weren't many places in the Jets game where such intensity was needed. For example, if the Jets were down near our goal line, I would have certainly stirred up the troops.

Ask that question again during the regular season, and I'll give you a full report.

If/when watching a Redskins game on TV, if you see a play go to the left corner end zone on the Redskins side, and if they show the first few rows of seats in that area, I'll be in the 2nd row. My seats are right smack dab on the goal line.

Look for the big guy with the beer in his hand.

JH - You know we'll have high expectations of you now, right? If that dream seats section is far from the "STOMP ZONE" you envision....

Heads will roll!!!!!!

Just remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. Be consistent with your rooting throughout the season, and work your trrops in the dream section into a frenzy as the season progresses.

Don't be dissapointed if they're still not coming around by the third home game, and also, don't get spent on at the first game. Save some for the playoffs!!!!!

And by all means, start the wave....

Hey JH! Believe it or not for the first time in a while I heard some of that stomping going on. I don't know if it was coming from your section or not, but I still heard it! Please keep it up! I'm sure it will only get louder as the season progresses.

By the way.....how sweet did that Campbell to Thrash hook up look from your seats?

And Hoss! I didn't know you were sitting in Section 106. Thats my section too! :) Which row do you sit in? I'm in row 10. And Don't worry about those people looking back at you. You were a new voice to them and they just wanted to see who you were.

Great - so since when where you sainted the "fan patrol"? Since when can you decide what others do with their seat or how they act or behave? Funny how you feel you can dictate to others. Personally, I'll do whatever I want to with my seat as long as it's not disruptive to others. Whereas, it appears you plan on doing what ever you can TO disrupt others. If you want to cheer, yell, whatever, then do so. But if I want to actually watch the game IN MY SEAT without drunken fools standing for the complete game, arguing over whether it's 2nd and 2 or 3rd and 3, puking on my shoes and dropping every conceivable cuss word known to man, then who's the "true" fan and who's the idiot? After your little speech I would have told you "I paid good money for this seat and expect some common courtesy - if you can't do that then YOU GIVE UP YOUR SEAT!"

You, Niki and others need to get off your high horses and stop worrying about the actions (or inactions) of others and start taking into to account your actions and how they affect others. You all have the "I paid for this road I'll speed if I want to" mentality - very sad really.

Oh and Niki - you don't own the stadium and you need to get over yourself.

Also, whoever it was that said they heard the stomp zone, it was probably from our section (226). They have pipes that run down one of the columns and a sheet metal guard over it. When the Redskins were on defense, there were a group of guys that took turns kicking it. Eventually, after multiple warnings, two PG County Police officers came up and ejected the one fan around there and his girlfriend that weren't even the ones kicking it.

Really so you would go out of your way to make my day bad because I elect to not disrupt others. Very self serving of you. But if you did "have fun" with me it would be short lived..... Can't see much of the game sitting outside the stadium or worse....

And to the other poster - no I am not dictating how others should act at the game. I'm asking others to be mindful that they aren't the only ones at the game. I'm curious who do you think security would bounce? The guy politely enjoying the game or the guy disrupting the section?

Now to set the record straight - I DO enjoy the game and yell, scream and chant - but I don't do it to the extent that it disrupts the others around me. That's just common courtesty. I'm not so caught up in myself that I feel it is neccessary to ruin another's experience just so I can act the part of the obnoxious fan.

Why do you assume I disrupts others? I never have. See the thread about weak Fed Ex fans.

You have taken issue with me and have no clue what you are talking about.

NikiH,

It was the "get out of my stadium" blog that I read and took offense to. If I mis-read it and you are part of the "live and let live" group I was championing then a true heart felt apology is due you.

I just get very annoyed at the "I got mine" group that thinks because it's a football game it's ok to ruin the game for others simply because they don't care.

If I offended you unduly I am sorry - it's not that I have something against you peronally. I just hate the "it's my stadium" attitude prevelant on this board and in the stands.

We're in row 3. Oh I'm not worried about the looks. I feel it's my duty as a fan to be as loud and supportive of my team as possible. I want opposing offensive coordinators to game plan away from our corner of the field. Between you, JH, and I we can turn that section into "Hell's Corner"!

It's a shame. One would NEVER have heard this discussion during the old RFK days.

We could, would and DID make that place rock... literally. Half the size of FedEx, and twice as loud. Shame. Folks just don't seem to realize that fan noise is a factor in winning games at home. RFK was a place that rivals truly hated.

First, that play was freakin' awesome! While it's pretty hard to see what goes on on the other end of the field, when play is in front of us like that, it makes it all worth it.

Also, at half time, I yelled at Jesse Lumsden as he was walking off the field, "Yo Jesse, the 2nd half is all you baby!"

He looked over and gave me a thumbs up.

That was cool as hell.

Finally, getting an up close an personal look at those cheerleaders makes those seats well worth it. There was this one blonde cheerleader (I think she was the tallest one of the bunch), that was absolutely gorgeous! It was hard for me to watch the game when she was in front of me.

Oh, and next game Redskins Rule, stop down and say "hi".

Jesus Christ, dude. Someone needs a Prozac, Xanex or something. I am not "dictating" what others do! I am, in a very friendly way, trying to rile up the troops. If you can't see that.....then go away.

And, for what it's worth, you will note that I took some offense to what Niki wrote in her blog but, after a few exhanges in that thread, we all discussed our opinions and got passed it. Maybe you should try that.

Stop taking things so literally and instead focus on the "context" in which the statements were made.
