Does anybody know his 40 time? I like the underdogs,i will be pulling for this guy when camp comes.I know it is going to be hard for him to make the team because the NFL is different,better players.

He did a private workout for NFL teams after his senior season... playing in Canada... he didn't get invited to the senior bowl... at the workout he ran unofficially at between 4.4 and 4.5 (Ronnie Brown led Rbs that year at the combine with an official 4.4) So he's got speed for sure... not WR speed, but pretty amazing speed for his size (he's about 235 pounds). He'd return kicks a lot more a la Ladell Betts than Antonio Brown.

I'd really like to see him get some looks at h-back. he siged a two-year deal, so while he may struggle to make the roster this year... he may make an excellent project and practice squad member. Great athlete.

I would love to see him get a chance at H-back. I think he could be deadly on those H-back screens.

None. I'm not suggesting for one second that Lumsden could supplant Cool

ey may eventually be a free agent that could be rightfully looking for a big pay day... I think it's smart to have a back-up plan at as many positions as you can. Lumsden can ease into the team and system... maybe contribute on special teams, and perhaps earn a shot.

According to the Mcmaster student newspaper (that's the university that Jesse attended in Canada), Jesse actually chose the Redskins. He had reported offers from the Bills, the Packers, the Colts and of course the Redskins but apparently liked his chances in D.C. How can you blame him when you look at our special teams trouble last year on returns? He's gotta know that is his best shot to make the team and apparently he knows Shawn Springs... who also told him that ST was very important in Washington and to concentrate on making a mark with Danny Smith.

I plan on following my fellow Canadian closely at Training Camp so I'll do my best to keep you informed on how he's doing.

Is Lumsden still eligible for the Practice Squad?

If he's fast and he's 6'2 and 220 pounds, can he catch? If he can, then why not big WR? Opponents squealed when Charles Taylor -- 6-3 and 217 -- turned from all-star RB to WR. "Unfair" they said.

I hope he plays everygame.
He just has some stiff competition so that is why I was wondering about the PS.
I would hate to see him not make the team.

In the highlight video there are a number of screen plays and boy does he look dangerous. We've seen how good Cool

ey is on screen passes but this guy is almost as big and even faster. He could be an amazing weapon.

It might cut into Nehemiah Broughton's playing time, and I am telling you that he has more potential than any of our guys in the backfield who lack the initials CP.

If this signing cuts into NB's playing time then his potential may only be potential, and potential doesn't put points on the board. On the other hand Nehemiah may feel the same as you do, let all that potential shine though and have Lumsden looking for work elsewhere

AB has huge speed but his penchant for fumbling has Gibbs pulling his gray hair out and looking for replacements.

Suddenly, the image of Lumsden heading upfield on a screen is very tantalizing....

I've followed his career from McMaster through the combines to Seattle and now Washington. Jesse has impressed at almost every level.

To make this team though, it'll be Special Teams and then maybe limited play from there. Getting on the team first would be the goal right about now.

To be blunt, he has to get a decent camp in, and in Seattle and in Washington now with the hip flexor, injuries have taken their toll. I hate to say it too, but don't get TOO excited about the press clippings and the "Coach Gibbs eyebrows raised" articles either. You could probably write the same article for every prospect in camp. What are the coaches going to say? Their batch of prospects suck? No....they'll say every time they "like what they see, want to give him a little playing time, etc"

The NFL is a tough league though, life ain't fair, and other backs going down with season ending injuries obviously increase his odds.

Being a lifelong 'Skins fan, and a Canadian, I'm rooting for Jesse the whole way. I'm admittedly biased.

Actually with Rock's performance on Sunday I think Jesse has a huge shot to upstage him if he's healthy this week.

Rock didn't show anything to those coaches that impressed them. With Clinton hurt and his return "hopeful" for the first week but not definite I think this is just the opportunity Jesse needed to do something other then just special teams.

i agree, rock seemed slow and weak to me. i was expecting to see the rock that filled in at times last year. instead he left the door wide open for lumsden to pass him by. i love rock but if lumsden is more effective, obviously he should get his spot.

I think Rock will play more FB this yr. Manny & Nemo Are less likely to make the team.

Manny's stats are better than Nemo's at this point and he has already 2 st tackles.

Broughton ran a 4.62 at the combines. Lumsden posted sub-4.5 times. Broughton comes in at 250lbs plus, Lumsden is what? 225 to 230?

You're pretty much pencilling in Broughton at the fullback position and nowhere else. Due to his size and speed, Lumsden's "potential" for playing in the backfield or special teams, in my opinion, opens more doors.

Sean Taylor himself ran a 4.45....?

I guess we could talk "potential" until the cows came home. "Prove it to me" is what will matter. Hopefully, a Canadian kid from a Canadian University (although he did get into the East-West Shrine a couple years back) when given the chance doesn't blow it.

I can't recall another running back coming from Canada, and a Canadian school, that made it in the NFL. Rueben Mayes had productive years in New Orleans, but he went to an American school.
