Portis Comeback
I was literally depressed this morning. I can only imagine how Portis felt. I am wishing him a speedy and full recovery. See you on the 11th bro.
I don't get why everyone is getting so upset over this.
Yes, I am saddened by what happened yesterday and this might be the makings of a season nagging injury, but like CP said himself, "It's football".
People are going to get hurt playing this game and unfortnately CP got hurt in a meaningless game.
But at least he got hurt Week 1. Now he has about 3 Weeks to totally rest and get ready for the Real Season and the beating he'll take the next 16 weeks.

How can you not be upset? Arguably the most important player on our offense gets hurt in the first quarter of the first pre-season game of the season (making a tackle no less) It's terrible.
I just hope he's back when the Vikes come to town. Although, if he's not 100% for that game I'd almost rather hold him out for the Dallas game. We can beat Minny at home without Portis, but beating the Cowboys in Dallas without him.....

No man, I am upset, but I'm not like, "Oh my God the sky is falling we are all going to die! I hate the Pre-Season!!"
Sure I am upset because it has been known that Portis has had some shoulder problems in his carrer and this doesn't help, but at least it happened in Week 1 of the Pre-Season.
Now CP has about 30 days to completely rest and get top of the line treatment to get ready for the real season, and now he has an excuse not to play or probably practice which will keep him fresh.

You pretty much just answered your own question dude????
It's absolutly horrible news. Three untouchables: Portis, Moss & Brunell. Now one went down, this shifts the whole offensive scheme.

I love Portis.
I think he'll be fine.
But Brunell is way more important to this Offense than Portis or Moss considering our backups at QB.
If Brunell goes down long term, I think we just have to see what Campbell is made of and hope he pulls a R-Burger(can't spell his name).
I'm not saying having Portis healthy doesn't make us a lot better team.
He is just not as important as Brunell.
Maybe I should have just said QB is more important than RB.

Part of my frustration is because I really believed Portis could have and MVP type of season. Just look what other running backs have down in this offensive system. Plus, to see Portis down in interviews like he was yesterday, makes me feel for the guy. He is usually a very happy and fun guy to see interviewed. I think once his frustration wears off, he will get motivated and re-hab hard. Not only is he important on the field but his fun-loving attitude is needed in the locker room as well.

I think Portis is crucial both on & off the field. He does everything you can possibly expect a RB to do (How many 1500 yds/yr RB's block like he does) & he keeps the guys loose & up beat.

Like Portis said: in Saunders' scheme, he'll be off the field by halftime with 150 yards in his pocket. Betts, Rock and Lumsden can fight it out over the second half leftovers. No worries.
