Shawn Springs has to have surgery
Jansenfan just brought me lunch and a little bad news. Shawn Springs has to have surgery. He's doing it now so he can hopefully not miss much of the regular season. He has the same injury that John Hall tried to play through last year.
He heard it on the radio so I don't have a link yet.

2004 = Huge Problem
Beggining of 2005 = Huge Problem
End of 2005 = Moderate Problem
2006 = Mild problem
I say the above because we have a pass rush this year. If we generate pressure like we did against the Bengals we'll be alright for a while. A good pass rush will help even the worst DB's.
* Look at what happened to the Colts secondary once teams got a handle on Dwight Freeny.
* Look at how the Giants compete and smash people up until they meet a team that can block their pass rushers.
I think that our exotic blitzing schemes and newfound pass rush will help our DB's and keep offenses from being able to rely on ONLY stopping the pass rush..

It'll be less of an effect than in previous years.

I think Shawn is doing what's best for the team. We'll need him later in the season, and God knows we'll need him in time for the Supa Bowl!!!!!
I agree with Chris re: the pass rush helping to buffer the temporary loss of Springs.
Now, I'm really looking forward to the remaining pre-seaon games, since it will give the subs time to work into the lineup. The injury and trade could have happened in midseason, and that might have been curtains for us.
It'll be a challenge, but certainly, the character of this team will carry us through the hump.

Back and better than ever!
It was on Redskins Radio I'm sure. Maybe Jansenfan can answer definitely.

does this mean rodgers will be on T.O. during Week 2 ?
Perhaps ST will be on "special assignment" that week.

Springs may be back by then. I don't expect to see TO in single coverage very much.
I don't expect to see Bledsoe throw the ball much. That's a hard thing to do lying on your back, staring up into the stadium lights!

Its only serious if you don't get the surgery. John Hall tried to play through it and he lost half of his leg strength. That's why he had to have it in the off-season.
