Football is very much a family game. It always has been in my family. If you do not agree then that's your choice, HOWEVER it does not mean that you should condone behavior that is unacceptable in other social settings.

If someone is using the game as an excuse to get drunk and act like an idiot then they should be thrown out, plain and simple.

You DO NOT have the right to tell me it's not a place for my child. I grew up going to Redskins games and being a fan and it's something that I want to pass on to my child. No one has the right to make it an unfit environment for him Redskins fan or not!]

If Fed-ex was designed better it'd be the loudest stadium in the league. Fed-Ex never gets deafening loud imo, not compared to Ravens stadium at least. I assume it has something to do with the design of the stadium. The Seahawks stadium was designed specifically to enhance the crowd noise.

I would love for Fed Ex to have a family section like the Patriots have done for their fans. Some family people spend cash as much as the drunks do.

I know one man that is older and he has several sets of tickets. He got heckled last year for not being obnoxious and not standing up. He's invested loads in this team, even when it wasn't "cool" to do it and people who expect fans to act a certain way have no right to question him if he chooses to actually sit in his seat while watching the game. The sad part is that it has actually made him think twice about attending games and he's a real fan.

Its a shame that an "older" guy is getting treated like that. Especially if/when its health related.

Yes, It is a shame that an old man can't see because people keep standing up in front of him. This past year There was this older couple sitting right behind me for about half the games. It sucked to! When Santana Moss would catch a deep ball I'd be jumping up with excitement! I was about halfway out of my seat........when I realized I had to sit back down.

There were times when I'd forget.........I tried to remember all the time, but I'm only human. I forgot. Not that it mattered to much. All he had to do was ask. I would feel a little bad about it, but hey.....I FORGOT! Don't blame me! Blame the Redskins for being so freakin good at home!!!!!!

With that being said, even that older couple understood that sometimes YOU NEED TO STAND UP! There were a few times when I'd get a tap on the shoulder and he'd tell me to get up! And that woman and her boyfriend! They're not old! They were gonna stand up or deal with it!

I'm not sorry that I can get a little excited when I see Sellers knock the crap out of Dawkins. Or Betts running over Newman or Moss making an AWESOME catch then knocking over the defender and racing for the end zone and so on. I'm gonna be jumping out of my seat and cheering. If some of you don't like it well then that is just to bad.

I think maybe we are all arguing the same point from different perspectives. I don't think anyone is advocating standing up all the time or sitting down all the time. I personally understand that when 'Tana makes a big catch people are going to jump up and cheer. I do it too. I also understand that there is no need to stand up for an entire play or for no reason at all. I can yell just as loud from my butt. Probably louder, as a matter of fact.

While the place was shaking for the Cowboys game this year, I am with the original poster: there are some WEAK fans still at Fed Ex. I was asked to sit down last year at the Eagles game during the second quarter when we were on defense and the Eagles were driving across the 50 (the series that ended with the fake spike/sack of McNabb). I was completely shocked that someone could be so clueless about what homefield advantage means.

My wife and I were also asked to sit down during the Giants game in a similar defensive-stand-type situation. The lady said that she paid good money for the tickets and that we should sit down so her and her son could see. Boy did she get an earful from my wife. Methinks it will be a cold day in hell when the world revolves around lame people and their children.

I think it's apparent that HOW a fan reacts or conducts himself isn't relative to his 'quality as a fan' but more a reflection of the respect that he/she has for those around him/her.

If there are 'correct' times to stand up, then surely there are correct times to sit down as well. It isn't about properly supporting the team, it's about realizing that there are other people there too who are supporting the team that have the same right to watch the game as the guy who wants to stand the whole time.

Don't get me wrong... there are obviously exceptions to every rule...

Sometimes i think people don't read what other people write around here. You focus in on one sentence where I was just being funny instead of addressing the meat of the issue. Maybe "weakness' isn't the problem afterall -- maybe it's laziness? For the record, are you saying that I should sit down the on the next third and short defensive stand at Fed Ex? Really? Just cos somebody asks me to? Wow. That is depressing, especially if that is the consensus around here.

Yoo i didnt realize i created a monster with this post...but this is the last thing im gonna say I am gonna stand and cheer when i want, or whenever i feel it is necessary...whether it is the "proper" time to stand or not I cant help my energy rushing through me when Im at that stadium..and i know this is cold, but i dont want my stadium to be a fun family place...football is a brutal manly barbaric sport...you think the called the Vet family friendly no! And they are known across the country as one of the hardest stadiums to play in...Look Im not saying dont bring your families or senior citizens shouldnt attend games, im jus saying realize that we the fans must cheer stand and be loud so please dont ruin our time and we'll do our best to respect older gentlemen who dont have the ability to rise and stand as they please...and kids just stand on the seats...you cant fault us for this passion...and YES D***IT IM GOING TO STAND AND SCREAM MY LUNGS OUT!

Scream your lungs out, I do the same. I do however have respect for my surroundings and the people in them. You go ahead and act like a Philly fan if you'd like, I'd like to keep myself as seperate from them as I can.

I'm not saying don't stand. There are definitely times to get excited and stand, I'm saying that you should be polite even if you are a fan, does this preclude you from caring that you are ruining the game for someone else if you choose to stand through an entire series??? Just remember that when we're in front of you and Jansenfan has to put Jackson on his shoulders to see and you cannot see anything.

Can't we agree to disagree? I don't think attacking one another is going to solve anything. I am all for cheering and yelling obscenities but if someone ask me to politely to calm down, I think I would. That is until the next big play then I would be cheering again. We all are different people and have different views on what is right and what is wrong. Deciding when to cheer and when not to cheer is along those lines. I say if someone ask politely for you to sit down, try to come to an agreement with that person. Key word of the day is COMPROMISE.

I've been a Redskins fan since I was 7 years old and I have never been to a game because I live in Missouri. But, I am going to go one day and when I go if I see a fan asking another to sit down because they can't see or because they are being too loud I will be ashamed to say I went to a game. Give me a break. I want to be right in the middle of the action. Real Redskins fans aren't going to be thinking about whether or not it is the proper time to cheer or stand up. This isn't a baseball game it is football! Stand up and shout or shut up!
