foxsports rating O-lines

Post by John Manfreda »

Were ranked 6th in the NFL
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5794000
. Washington Redskins
Washington's line, which finished fifth in the league in Adjusted Line Yards, is led by tackles Chris Samuels and Jon Jansen. Samuels rode a fundamentally sound season to the Pro Bowl on the left side and RT Jansen recovered nicely from an Achilles injury which kept him out of the entire 2004 season. Line coach Joe Bugel is credited by his players as a major factor in turning the Redskins' tide back to the days of the "Hogs," Washington's impenetrable line of the 1980s. These linemen are not yet at that level, but they've certainly pulled themselves up from the scattershot blocking which typified the Steve Spurrier era. Guards Derrick Dockery and Randy Thomas and center Casey Rabach fill out a unit that should keep Clinton Portis and all his alter egos happy and healthy in 2006.

Seems like a fair evaluation. Our run blocking is as good as it gets but our pass blocking still needs some work.

As a divisional comparison, the Giants, Eagles and Cowboys were 15th, 16th, and 19th. :-k

I just hope everyone on the O-line stays healthy this year. Its shaping up to be a very special year!

well it didnt seem that we had the 6th best OLine against the seahawks...We can be better with a healthy OLine although

We had Raymer playing guard. That won't happen again.

I can't wait to see Randy Thomas back in action. What an amazing season he was having before his injury.

What's going on with the advertisement?

I mean, there are better Scottish products to advertise, such as certain "heavy water", the real drink of Scotland. :hmm:

Ah! And on the topic of the thread: the OL goes the way Jansen goes. Jansen OK, OL OK. Otherwise, ...
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

OL probably takes more teamwork than any other part of the game. It isn't just how Jansen does.

I love offensive line rankings. However, I have to say that I have our O-Line ranked a little lower than #6. I do think #6 is possible with Saunders, but we will have to wait and see.

Ok the Seahawks went to the Super Bowl. If you get technical they were the 2nd best in the NFL, because they lost the superbowl. What logic do you use to say you didn't see it against the team that were the runners up in the Super Bowl???? I hate when people act like the team last year was not a good team. What we need at the O Line is a little bit of depth so that when players go out we have back ups to step in. The coaching staff recognized that and went out to try to find some inexpensive options to fix this. Perhaps the people who wrote this article were astute enough to realize that.
