QUESTIONS FOR A NEWCOMER COMING TO TRAINING CAMP
Hello fellow 'Skin fans! I am driving from my home state,Texas, yesTexas, to c my very first Redskin training camp, hell my first Redskin any thing in Washinton DC. I hav been to games in Texas, but never been to Redskin Mecca!!!I am very excited about coming here and seeing anything Redskins. Please give me any tips on coming to training camp and the scrimmage with Baltimore. I will be arriving on July 31st and will stay till august 8. I probably wont be able to do this again for a long time, so I wanna experience as much Redskins as I can. I hav waited for 30 years to come to one of these. What r the dos and donts. What can I expect each day of training camp. Should I go everyday! Wut the chances of meeting and autograph of players. What should I expect from Fan Appreciation Day.Please any knowledge of anything anyone knows on these will b truly b appreciated! Thanku and HAIL TO THE REDSKINS. Sweep tha boyz again.
Hi and welcome...you will have a great time - yes...you will get many autographs and bring the camera - pics with the players are common too. Definitely bring sunscreen and bug spray / wipes and water...get water from a store, bring a cooler...costs a fortune at camp (food too - and not much of a selection). This is mine and Jake's 14th straight training camp and those are the main items of importance. Coach has cut practices so yes...make it to every one of them. I believe they are all in the afternoon with no practice on the 3rd (Thurs). Hope to see you there. Look for thehogs.net crew (and thehogs.net tee shirts....usually hanging out down by the woods in the shade...but I think they will post a definite spot to meet.
Hip Hip Hooray!!!

I come from Fla every year to Training Camp, and I stay at The Courtyard Town Center in asburn only because I have Points. The wife goes to the Town Center Mall when I'm at camp. I enjoy camp more when the better half is happy! As a redskin fan to lived south of Houston for 27 years I can tell you that Camp at Asburn is hotter so bring somthing light to wear. Camp is a blast, hope to see you there. Also to Boss Hog were did "piglet" come from in my byline. It was always "Mr.Ed"

The'piglet' tag (undr your name) is a rank and comes from your number of posts. I'm not sure how it could have said Mr.Ed actually since I'm the only that can change these and only do so when people get to a certain number of posts (that you haven't reached yet).
But I see you have Mr. Ed in your signature now, so hopefully that'll do.

See ya at camp!!
We'll try to set up a 'meeting place' where you can meet other THNers before every practice, but to be honest, with everyone rolling in at different times... and everyone basically wearing Redskins gear... it's not always so 'simple'.
Usually the Redskins have tents set up along the side of the practice field... we usually meet down near the last tent (closest to the forest). That might not mke sense if you've never been there, but it should when you get there.

I must say to all im excited that this is my first training camp and my first training camp with the THN crew. After 27 years I look forward to finally making it out to see my favorite sports team at training camp and more importantly introudce my 4 month old boy to the next Super Bowl Champions!!! I look forward to meeting all the great posters from THN that will be in attendance on day 1. I can't believe football season is only 18 days away.

Mr. Ed - I am sure you will enjoy your first visit to TC and meeting some other THNers is a plus. For me, I think I have been to my last TC. I am probably older than most of you and it would be nice if Dan would install some bleachers. Sometimes it is tough to get a good view of the practice (unless you want to be bold and walk up in front of someone else). Also, I don't have the patience to stand around and wait for a players autograph unless I KNOW he will be available (usually not the case).
I hope you have a great time, enjoy the social with others THNers but don't be disappointed if your plans to watch the practice and/or get autographs fall short of your expations.

Bleachers would be nice, but it's still a great way to spend an afternoon in the sun if you ask me. I'm not an autograph hound, so that part doesn't bother me at all, but there are certainly quite a few players who spend a good deal of time signing autographs. It's impossible to get to everyone when there are hundreds looking for them, but strategically placing yourself BEFORE the end of practice can definitely help you get some autographs.
Most people want to watch practice from the near end zone to about the middle... but if you do down to the far end of the field, you can walk right up to the front until almost the start of practice. Drills end up splitting guys all over the place, so there's always something to watch. If you see anybody in a THN shirt at the front, just go stand beside them.... it's not 'budding'... just introduce yourself and it's networking.

Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.
