Wow...we need more people like you to join our board. People who can't discuss football because they know nothing about it. People who have to resort to other means of "discussion" <cough>ignorance</cough> to defend themselves.
DCNinerFan. Do you notice a difference between the way you are acting and the way Red Razor is acting?
It is possible to talk football without slagging other teams, especially when you are a guest in that team's house.
Some people can't. Usually those people have no actual knowledge to back up their arguments or assertions.
I'm sure by now, most people have already decided to ignore your posts, as it seems your main point in posting here is to "get someone's goat." That's not how we roll here.
We enjoy good solid football conversation. If you want to talk smack, we have a forum for that. Get to know it. That's about the only place people will talk to you after your "first impression." Surely you don't act like this in StormyBot's house.
See some of the quotes below of some disrepectful and sarcastic comments from your side of the fence. Would that be considered smack talk or are they an exception to your rules here? See..what started as a friendly gesture (the orig. posting...not mine) turned into some offensive comments in your forum. It's ironic that you bring up stormybot when you have a few members that could learn a thing or two about respect. When in Rome....
See below:
"Yeah thanks for the info and all but the biggest difference this year is that Carter and lloyd will be Redskins and not whiners"
"Let's see what happens when these guys get some DECENT coaching!
...oh yeah, and some real NFL talent around them!"
"I think they signed Walt Harris. Maybe you could give them an honest review of his abilities."
So basically, your response is to ignore my post and try to tell me why you are being persecuted. In other words, you have no explanation for your posts, so you try to change the subject.
The posts you list were made by members of this board with a reputation of being upstanding citizens. Your posts were an attempt to get a rise out of people and you have no standing with this board to tell anyone that you are anything more than a troll.
Another MAJOR difference is that those posts are made regarding a post, and not a poster. No person is insulted by any of those statements. Calling a person a redneck and insulting a person's intelligence is a blatant violation of the rules. Attack the post, not the poster. Check out the Welcome Wagon, read the rules and follow them. Its not my job to teach you the rules, only to enforce them.

I know CLL, and believe me... he's not bilingual. So, you're a '9ers fan...still rooting for Owens? After what he did to you?

I dont see how anyone couldn't. The guy has shown that he can be brilliant. Nobody with hands like that can be average. Players of his calibur who are labeled "average" dont have the right coaching. The great coaches are the ones who can tap into a player and get his best every Sunday. Lloyd is going to take the NFL by storm this year. Look for two WR's from this team to make the probowl.
After what Gibbs and the rest of the coaching staff did for Moss, you've got to think Lloyd has a good chance of having a great year here, especially now that Saunders has been added. I'll have to admit I wasn't thrilled with the Moss for Coles trade before the season started, but I was never happier to be wrong. Even if he's only average (which I don't think he is), Lloyd's still going to shine with this receiving corps. It's not like defenses can just focus on Lloyd and ignore Moss, Patten, Randle-el, and ey. This offense has a ton of weapons, and Lloyd's just one of many.
If the 49ers and their fans really consider Lloyd and Carter to be average right now, then we'll simply have to wait and see what their opinions of them are in a year's time. Let's see how the replacement WR and DE fare in stats against our new toys.
As far as Lloyd and Carter are concerned I feel that they were added primarily because they will contribute to the team and fit into the whole "scene" here that Gibbs and Williams (primarily, but with a lot of other coaches too) have been working towards for the last 2 years. We keep emphasising that these coaches are most interested in motivated players who are primarily interested in making themselves and their teammates better by following the script that is in place.
I am sure that some 9er fans are disapointed in both these players because of what they perceived they did or didn't do for their team last year - maybe I'm a blind homer but I just think that these 2 given our needs and schemes this year are going to be a lot better "players" for us than they were lasy year on that team. This is not a slight on the 9ers just that we are in a better situation than that team is right now.
I also find it a little humorous that any 49er fan would not support us against the Cowboys this year after what TO has done to them, the Ravens and the Eagles in the past few years.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
I posted this in the Smack Talk forum, but wanted to share this here as well.
I am a 49er fan and normally post on 49erswebzone. I have read all the DCNiners postings on the previous thread and can assure that this guy does not represent the majority on our side. Although I would have to say out of fairness that there were some comments made before he posted that irked me and were made by hogs.net members about the 49ers, but this is your site, not ours. He was way out of line and totally disrepectful and I apologize that you guys had to endure that stuff.
But...because I love to talk football with others who love the game as much as I do, I would also like to point out to the guy he was originally being a jerk to... that the Redskins had a great season last year and I actually rooted for them in the playoffs against Seatlle and Tampa. In fact I had them picked to go all the way to the Superbowl b/c I think highly of the Washington defense. I think that Gibbs has this team on the right track and they are a contender to take it all this year. But if you go back a few years in this decade, you'll see that the Redskins offense and defense has not been better than than 49ers and the only thing that stood out for the Redskins was their 2004 defense and 2005 season. But this only proves my point that Gibbs is an awesome coach b/c he is turning the Redskins around. Please do not take this as jab, but more of a "just for the record" since DCNiner was challenged with stats.
Also DCNiner is a moron with that TO comment. TO is an idiot and I hope Sean Taylor breaks his other leg. Washington shut him down in 2004 and would have probably done the same if had suited up for the games in 2005. I'm sure you understand that we share a hatred for the cowgirls so I look forward for TO to disappoint this year again.
Thanks for letting me post my thougtst and opinions here.
What does everyone think of Portis' numbers this year? I'm thinking about taking him in the fantasy draft this year.
JansenFan wrote:Welcome FY. I think that Portis can't help but be productive. With 8 guys in the box last season he put up the most yards ever by a Redskins' RB. Now, the REdskins have the talent at WR to make anyone putting 8 in the box regret it, plus in Saunder's offense, the RB is an intergral part of the passing game, and the running backs always seem to be close to the top of league in stats.

Keep in mind that this is from a Redskins fan. . .
Portis is a pretty intriguing pick, though he's never been a top 5 pick (in my opinion) in fantasy drafts. His numbers were pretty good last year, with 1,500 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The wild card seems to be what effect Al Saunders will have on Portis. Look at the backs under Saunders in the past few years: 21, 27, and 14 TDs for Priest Holmes in three seasons as well as 1600, 1400, and 900 yds. Larry Johnson last year had 1700 yds and 20 TDs.
Will Saunder's scheme mean extra production (and especially more TDs) for Clinton? Perhaps, which is why he may be a steal for a non-top5 pick. (Watch as other owners take Shaun Alexander right away, for instance. . .)

Thanks for your intelligent and respectful post, but I would point out that when Marvin Lewis was our DC (in Spurrier's first season) we had a top five defense.

I saw the link to your forum on the 49er web zone , thought i would stop by and say hello.
There is also a pretty long thread over there on the Merits of LLoyd and Carter.
I honestly think the Redskins did great on picking up lloyd. If they can get a consistant quality starter at QB I would expect lloyd will look some what like Monk-light.
The 49ers offense had some turmoil at the end of the Mooch era and could not decided were to Stick T.O. He orginally was a Split end and ended up at Flanker, That really Forced LLoyd to End, a place he never should have been. His biggest weakness has been getting open on a consistant basis. A by product that he is too small to fight off the LOS
I would expect he is going to explode this season if the Redskins Keep him off the LOS. He is a natrual Flanker/slot type WR.
Carter on the other hand, eh... I am not so sure of that. Even when he use to be healthy he basically picked up garbage Sacks. For the Life of me i dont remember him getting a sack when the 49ers really needed one. Thats not even getting in to how Poor he is in run support.
In his defense, he was drafted in the Mooch era. The 49ers were basically a run first team, unlike walsh and Seiferd the team did not average a the score advantage every week. The games were closer and Teams ran on the 49ers more often. A team does not need an excuse to pick a Teir one College pass rusher, but i allways felt the team drafted him give them an advantage against the rams and there very fast turf.
Also it will be intresting to see how he looks when He does not have to play in the Deep grass of Candle stick anymore, since his whole game is based on how quick his first step is.
So , how is Jason Cambell working out for your guys? I am a huge Auburn fan, I was surprised he was drafted in the First round. He seemed like a risky pick he was very aveage for 3 years then God like his SR at auburn. I dont think you could ask for a better leader as a QB. He was the heart and Soul of Auburn. I know Caddi and Ronnie got more attention, But Cambell was the man. A little known Fact he AVERAGED something near 80% completion percentage at the End of his SR season when Auburn was fighting to go Undefeated. Against teams like Tenn Georgia, VT and Bama. I have allways hoped that he Would rock in the NFL.
By all reports, Jason Campbell has looked good. Joe Gibbs said something to the effect of, "Campbell has lived up to all of our expectations."

Hello again Skins fans-
I am unable to watch a lot of Redskins games but I wanted to know how the ex-Niners are doing. I know their numbers aren't good but I am curious as to why.
Lloyd: Is his gameplay okay but he's not producing due to the offensive scheme, bad QB, number not being called, etc.
-or-
Is he not putting up numbers due to his lack of speed or his un-willingness to take a hit to make the catch?
Carter: Is his gameplay okay but he's not producing due to the defensive scheme?
-or-
Is he just being physically dominated by offensive tackles?
(Carter confuses me...he had good technique early in his career but seems to be slowing. I wonder if it's the "big contract, no need to try anymore" syndrome.
Rumph: I haven't heard if he's doing good or bad. Any info on him would be appreciated.
Thanks guys
Can't wait tohear what you have to say.

1. lloyd has looked pretty impressive (except for one badly-timed fumble). by most accounts, he has been open quite a bit but brunell doesn't seem to realize that he exists, since he spends 90% of passing plays just staring at santana moss.
2. carter has struggled against the run and made little if any impact in the pass rush department. many around here are about ready for him to see the bench and go back to our starter from last year, who was a much better run-stuffer.
3. mike rumph has been pretty much horrible. our pass defense may be the worst many of us have ever seen.
has taylor jacobs even showed up on the radar of SF fans? i heard he was injured yet again...

Lloyd isn't getting the ball because Boonell doesnt look at nay receivers other than Moss. He had a 52 yard catch on Sunday.
Carter has sucked so far. Like you said he is being physically dominated by the other teams' olinemen. Other teams have also been running to his side alot and he hasn't been able to do anything to stop it.
Rumph has been mediocre. He has made a couple of nice plays (atripped TO in endzone) but hasn't been consistant at all.

I also wanted to add that your coach in San Fran now (Nolan) was run out of town here back in 1998 when he was our defensive coordinator because our defense was so consistently bad.....and now of course we forgot that and decided that we could use some players from his new defense in San Fran.......Carter has been the bigggest bust out of any of them......has 2 coverage sacks and i am almost sure he has 3 tackles or less in 6 games.....he is a running backs dream.....and to be fair....the linebacker behind him ( Warrick Holdman) has been almost as bad so if Carter can't get to the RB he usually gets past the backer that should cover Carter's mistakes on running plays......so its a huge problem. Alot of people around here (includin us fans) are very concerned that each RB we play sees a parting of the "red Sea" on that side of our defense and we just keep getting gashed on Carters and Holdmans side of the defense. After having a defense that carried our whole team last year for big stretches and was a top 3 defense in the league, our D is close to being in the bottom 3 this year and we replaced only 2 -3 starters so alot people around here are just shocked at how this has happened.

Let's take a look:
RedRazor wrote:Lloyd Will be a good #2 receiver for you (not great). He definately won't be the 3rd receiver, not because he's that good but because he hates contact. Slot receivers are more involved in blocking and running routes over the middle and there's no way Lloyd will do that. He is "wimpy." His biggest downfall is his speed. He is very slow and could never get any separation from DB's. But this shouldn't be as much of a problem in Washington beacause he isn't the #1 receiver. Lloyd will be covered by the opponents #2 CB. He will definately be better in Washington than he was in SF because the offense is better and he's being covered by the lesser of the two CB's.
Carter I believe the Redskins play the 4-3 and Carter back up there on the line rushing the QB will be great. If I had to guess, I would expect Carter to have 8 sacks next year. That will most likely be his average throughout his career.
I'm with you, CT.
