Sportscenter Rates Pass Catchers

Post by CooleyAsIce »

Sportscenter is doing a segment with Salisbury, Golic, and Schlereth where they rate each teams receiver 1-32. They ranked the Skins 3rd! Salisbury said they had the best offseason of anyone and they all agreed that it was a toss up for the top three and they could have easily put the Skins at #1. All and all very positive comments. Incidentally Arizona was 2nd and the Colts were #1. Oh and Dallas and NY were 5th and 6th.

Sportscenter ultimate depht chart - Receiving

Post by CcHhDd »

The sportscenter crew ranked us #3 in the NFL in receiving. They said depth wise... we could be first. Nice to finally get some respect. Oh yea... not one mention of us "overspending" either.

Last night they did a feature on the top backfields in the league. They had the skins at 6. They were basing it solely on the primary back, not depth. If depth were taken into consideration, I would have to think that the 'Skins would be closer to the top, if not #1.

It actually was based on the position so depth WAS being factored in.

Well if they did take depth into consideration, they sure didn't put much stock in it. Of the top 5 teams, only one has a proven, legit #2 back and that is KC.

If they took depth into consideration, why is Pittsburg all the way at #11 when they have 2 proven running backs?

Who. They had fast Willie Parker and Duce McAllister who has been banged up. No one in our backfield has proven anything besides Clinton. We all know that Denver puts out the best backs in the league.

I honestly don't care where Sportscenter or any other sports show ranks the Redskins offense, defense, special teams, RBs, QBs, WRs, CBs, whatever.

We're not gonna know how good this team is until we see them play in the new system on opening day. Only then will we know just how good this team is.

I, for one, can't wait!

You mean Deuce Staley, right? Either way, I like it more when the Skins don't get mad props from the pundits. It seems like those teams always chosen to do well don't. I don't want that from our Redskins.

In all honesty so what!! Who really cares what these analysts think. They had us coming in last place in the NFC east last year so I dont care about theyre two cents!! There opinion dictates nothing among the Hog faithfull. And another thing how are they rating our passcatchers so soon when only one of them Santana MOss has proven himself under our system. Lets not start tooting the horn just yet. Games are won during the season not in some TV show I hate when they start rating teams half the time there predictions are wrong or actually its 99 percent of the time they are wrong. As far as Sean Salsburys opinion who da heck cares he was a benchwarmer in his days anyhow!!

The pre season rankings have recently been based on past seasons rather than the look or make up of the team as it has evolved since the last season.
I'm really looking forward to how this group of players has developed over the past few months and how much our team has improved. I fully expect as good if not better results from the defense but I also expect that we are going to be a lot more dangerous on offense also. This primarily due to the additions of both the players selected and the way we addressed some positions of need but also because Saunders will be even more dangerous as an offensive coordinator with Gibbs.

This is really exciting to watch - 4 weeks to TC and a little over 6 weeks to see some pre season action - cannot wait.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

It's easier to just "predict" that nothing will change from last yr than to do the research & analysis to come up with something meaningfull.

Like Playboy picking football. Remember Gibbs reaction to someone mentioning playboy picks? Well, I'm sure he feels the same way about Sportscenter. Who the hell is sportscenter?

Makes sense to me. With Carter boosting the pass rush & Archuleta in the secondary, we should be among the elite.

If our DT's stay healthy, our run D will be better than that.

I think so also, we have no big names on our line, that is why they rated our run D that low.

That could be. They should look at productivity instead of names.
