At "work", Big Ben has 10-11 guys always trying to kill him each and every offensive play. It's in his best interests to wear a helmet because people are ALWAYS trying to knock his block off.
On a m/c, however, it is assumed that you're in much less frequent danger. Hopefully, cars aren't always around you trying to hit you. Yes, you have to be a defensive driver and be alert to that possibility....but

I mostly said that in jest but it rings a bit of truth IMO. I plan on getting a bike someday and I've read heavily on the topic.
Every forum/topic/person Ive ever spoken to speak about cages aka car in a negative light. An SUV can fall into your blindspot so whats going to happen with a 2 wheeled bike? A car is nothing more than a steel cage that is going to knock you down onto cement, asphalt or another steel cage. So if you're on a street with 11 cars, IMO its no different than being out there on a football field. To be honest with you I'd play football without a helmet before Id ride a bike without a helmet.
Seatbelts are mandatory and you get fined.
Helmets aren't... This doesn't make sense at all.
Apples vs Oranges? I see it as death vs death and I think thats pretty equal. Not wearing proper protection in either arena can lead to death.
Ben whined about not being able to see out of a helmet, it limited his "freedom". So lets see where not wearing a helmet got him and examine certain things.
1. The accident happened infront of him. So if he had a helmet on, it would not have hindered him but prevented the following...
2. Missing teeth at the age of 24
3. A scar on the back of his scalp 9 inches long
4. A wired jaw that will prolly never be the same

Another thing I've always read is that if you ride a bike you WILL go down. The best of the best have gone down, nobody is invincible. So you feel that having cement passing by you at 20mph-190mph is not a frequent danger? Lets push you out of a moving vehicle head first and see how you feel about it then.

Well, Id rather whither away at 99 still watching the Skins play then to die at 24 because I was too dumb to protect myself.
Id rather whither and have been there for my family then to not protect myself and leave kids/wife/whomever mourning over a senseless death that could have been prevented if I had not been selfish.
I guess we're not going to agree on this.
