WASHINGTON -- Redskins wide receiver Ataveus Cash was arrested Thursday night for driving without a license, District of Columbia Police said.
Cash, 27, was stopped in southeast Washington. He was taken to a police station where he paid a fine and was released, police said. Police were unsure of the amount.
Cash was signed in January as a free agent from the New York Giants. He has spent time in NFL Europe and was on the Giants' active roster in 2005, but has not played in an NFL game.

Driving without a license? Does that mean he doesn't have a license at all, or it wasn't on him at the time he was stopped? If the latter, that's nothing at all; people forget their licenses all the time.

Most State have distinct charges:
(a) Driving Without a License - the person's has no valid license;
or
(b) Driving Without License in Possession - person is licensed but left his/her license somewhere else.
There's usually a small difference in fines.

Right, I understand all that; I'm just curious as to the actual charge in this case, since news stories sometime err in describing legal matters.
Our season is over. Cash it in, 'cause Cash is done... unless Fios can run a decent route. I mean, dang... they could be brothers.

Exactly! It was kind of hilarious that Fox 5 ran with this as one of the lead stories on the 10 pm news last night:
REDSKIN ARRESTED
With the exception of the people who run this board, I'm sure most of us all had the same reaction. First you thought: "Oh no. What did Sean Taylor do now?" Then you said, "Ataveus Who?"
I got pulled over about 5 years ago and my drivers license was expired by 3 days. I had never had a ticket or accident and I was given a ticket not to mention a misdemeaner for driving w/out a valid drivers licence. At the time I was too young to think that I should have gotten a lawyer but I ended up getting it expunged b/c we found out that California DMV mailed out the reneaal notice to the wrong address and also I ended up going and getting it renewed the next week after the citation.
I have to believe he does not have a driver's licence. Typically, you get a citation, but the judge will reduce it to a warning if you can prove you were licenced at the time of the citation.

I don't think it matters. we have 13 WR on roster & will probably only keep 5. Moss, Lloyd, Randle El & Patten are 4. That leaves 9 players competing for 1 spot. I doubt if Cash was ever near the top of the list.
