CBS.Sportsline Power Rankings

Post by dredg »

It takes a special kind of ignorance to rank a team directly behind the last 5 teams they beat (in a row no less...)

I give you Pete Prisco

Perhaps, someday, there will be a requirement for sports reporters to actually demonstrate some knowledge.

Yeah... perhaps... LOL

At least there is a direct e-mail link to point out to him how utterly laughable his rankings are.

Special, they can't even classify the stupidity of the entire article... How are the fins higher than us and they have no quarterback until a month or two into the season and they lack the 1,2 punch that they had at running back last year.

I won't even talk about how he ranked the cowboys, the only offseason move they have worth noting he doesn't even mention, is he living in the same universe as the rest of us.

I don't think that we should be all that high and I don't even mind people thinking that we are going to stink up the east...(you know like we did last year) but putting us behind the cards... WTF????

I sure hope the league has their heads as far up their rears as this guy does... because by the time they pull their heads out we should be well into the playoff hunt.
Well what more would you expect out of the "Worst Team" in the "Best Division"

The draft didn't help much, so they better hope their free-agent signings do the trick. They’ve also added a good offensive coordinator in Al Saunders, which will help.

Ok so if the Skins would have drafted 5 players who never played a down in the NFL vs. proven vets who have been on champoinships teams then they would have been ranked higher?

I'll have a double scoop of ignroance to go please. Thanks Pete, our guys love being the underdogs.

Jag lovin' Pete Prisco ranks the Jaguars at #5. Who could possibly take him seriously? He's just a biased fan who somehow got a job writing about football. Pay him no mind.

Cardinals, Bucks, Eagles, Cowboys, Dolphins, Jags, and Pats r ranked higher than us, can u say retarded.
I can see ranking the Steelers, colts, Panthers, Broncos, Giants and Seahawks ahead of us. DON'T GET ME WRONG I DON'T THINK SOME OF THESE TEAMS R BETTER THAN US, BUT I COULD SEE WHY ANOTHER TEAMS FAN THAT DOESN'T FOLLOW THE REDSKINS MUCH WOULD RANK THESE TEAMS HIGHER. But the other ones r just stupid.

Hahahahaha, he ranked THE CARDINALS a spot higher than us!

Boy, we really earned some respect with our great play down the stretch last year!

In a way, though, I like this low ranking - it's only going to be motivation to our players, who know this team is better than that. Last in the division - that's got to burn some of our guys!

I could also see someone putting those teams higher even as a unbiased journalist, The Giants acquired two linebackers and r the defending NFC champs. Seattle beat us in the playoffs and half their team got injured that game. Steelers they won the superbowl, Panthers r a good team and they adress their running back need and according to my friends in North Carolina they had a good draft. Broncos they beat us and got Javon Walker. I am not saying there better but I could see why they could think those teams r better. Remember we r biased towards the Skins. I know Joe Gibbs won three diffrent superbowls with three diffrent Qb's but they were all veterans I know Brunell is, but he did get hurt and broke down and the season before he really broke down, why wouldn't one think he is going to break down this season, and Campell would have to play. Gibbs never won a superbowl with a young Qb, not saying he can't but he hasn't so I could see why they think we could be in trouble there. I am not saying he is right I think we should at least be number 7.

I realize that several teams helped themselves this off season, but we weren't just standing around. Archuleta, Carter, Lloyd & Randle El aren't exactly chopped liver.

He covered himself when he said,

Somewhere out there is a team lurking near the middle that come December will be in the playoff mix.

In January after the Skins have won the NFC and are in the SB he can say he was right since the we were rankes 15/32 - as near to the middle as you can get (#16 & 17 are center).

Such a good article that I haven't bothered to read it.

I'm almost certain that the current record for all teams is 0 - 0.

Does anything matter but wins and losses?

I think we had that going for us last year - the team had struggled for so long, opponents were probably still considering us an 'easy win'. But last year likely cured that. I think the rest of the league will take the 'skins seriously this year, even if journalists don't.

Coming up with Power Rankings in May is about as useful as talking about those power rankings in May.

Seriously, how did Prisco get a job doing this? That was the worst power rankings I've ever seen. It has no logic at all. I don't know if his choices are due to homerism, hatred of certain teams or just stupidity. I don't mind the Skins playing the role of underdog, even though we are going to be one of the best, if not the best NFC team this season.
