Doubts About Ryan Clark

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Doubts About Ryan Clark

Post by GibbsLombardi »

Judging by his new Pittsburgh teammate's comments, Ryan Clark is not yet fitting well with their defense. This shows that Gibbs/Williams have broken the curse of overpaying for players!

doubts about ryan clark

Football is not just about statistics. Look at Joe Montana, arguably the greatest QB in history. When was he drafted, third round? There's a lot of intangibles with players that only a good judge of people can properly evaluate. That's Joe Gibbs' real strength. Think of players like Gary Clark and Mark Rypien...what did they do after they lost Gibbs as coach. Not much. In fact, most successful players who leave Gibbs system don't do that well anywhere else.

A lot of players play well above their ability with Joe Gibbs. Historically, he gets the most out of the least ability than any other coach. Conversely, the coaches we have had in recent years have gotten the least out of some very talented players. Trent Green, Brad Johnson, and Larry Centers come to mind.

It's quite possible that Ryan Clark will fail in Pittsburgh. He was a much bigger loss to us than a gain to Pittsburgh.

The last time I checked Champ Bailey, Lavar Arrington, Atonio Pierce, Fred Smoot and Ryan Clark were no longer Redskins. Thus, here we are.

If I'm not mistaken, Gibbs has only ever coached one HOFer and that was Riggins. Darrell Green will make it but that would just be two. Yet, he's won three SBs! That is just amazing!
