Best Basketball/Football Player in the World

Post by DarthMonk »

There are many ways to look at this one. A few comments and then 2 questions.

I think Nash deserved the MVP. It is rather amazing that 7 Suns had career years in scoring. In a somewhat related vein it is my contention that a roster of 12 Nashes would defeat a roster of 12 Shaqs. I think the Shaqs would have great difficulty advancing the ball past mid-court in time on a consistent basis. Do they get 8 seconds now? I've heard the argument that they'd just lob but Shaq really isn't a great leaper and the passes woould have to be perfect. When they did get it past mid-court Nash could foul if necessary. Meanwhile, the Nashes would be able to advance the ball easily and pretty much get uncontested 15 footers all game. On the other hand, I think a roster of 1 Shaq and 11 Nashes would beat one with 12 Nashes.

Question 1: Although I'm not a huge LeBaron fan, what 12-clone rosters (past or present) could beat a roster of 12 LeBarons?

Question 2: What 47-clone roster could beat a roster of 47 Sean Taylors in an NFL game?

I think both answers are, at best, not many but I'd love to hear what people think.

1. A team of Kobe Bryants could beat a team of LeBrons. So could a team of Vince Carters, IMO. LeBron, for all he does right, is still young and his defensive skills need some work. A team of Garnetts could defintiely beat LeBrons.

2. How about a team of Antwaan Randle Els...? pass, catch, run, on both sides of the ball.
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

A team of Vince Carters? ROTFALMAO

I guess he looks good when you only see him on highlights.

If you had twelve Vince Carters, I think you'd be lucky if you could field five healthy players on a nightly basis. But at least you'd have 7 guys on the bench that thought that god given talent was enough. :-"
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

1. Yeah, I was thinking Kobe too - he plays defense as you say. Garnett seems right too. I'd be worried about toughness of the Carters. Someone mentioned Duncan. He'd certainly do better than Shaq.

How about a team of Magics, Birds, or Jordans. I think they'd all win. Who'd win among them?

2. That's a good one. I was thinking of McNabbs too. TOs would get hammered by Taylors - I think.

12 Jordans, can shoot pass, he use to beat everyone in practice in every single aspect of the game, but modern players its tough to say, not only you would have to think D but also the boards, 12 Jamisons, he can score and rebound, for D they can run a zone.. Team of Kobe Bryants is useless he wouldn't get the boards and they would fight over who's taking the shoots. I would take 12 Dirk's he is starting to play D now with Avery and he can get the boards. Remember shooting 40 percent is a good number that would mean 60% of the shoots would be missed and you need to get the boards.
Football 11 Portisis, can block run, and can throw when needed. But for football I am going to do just skill positions and lineman, reciever I would pick team of Cooley's can block, recieve and run and play TE, o-line Hutichinsons a guard can play tackel but a tackel can't play guard thats why I am elimenating all tackels, a guard can play center also. Offensice backfield I would do a team of Mcnab's can play Qb and rb, fullback might be weak but I am sure you could teach him how to block, he is big and strong. D, D-line would be Strhan, seems big enough to put at Dt and De is fine, Lb, Marcus Washington he could probably play middle, and we know he can play outside. Secondary, Taylor covered Randy so he could play corner and both safty positions. I didn't do research or anything but this is off the top of my head.

I certainly think 12 MJs would beat 12 LeBrons but I think 74 Barrys would get hammered by 12 Sean Taylors. There would be a complete jailbreak in the backfield all day when Barry was on offense and the Barrys couldn't tackle the Taylors when they had the ball.

Still wondering:

12 Magics, 12 Birds, 12 Jordans - who wins?
