We Need Warren Sapp!!!

Post by Redskins4Life »

In the beginning of Free Agency, I didnt want Warren Sapp. Hell, to this day, I still kinda dont want the guy. But we need D-Line help, and Cornelius Griffin is not enough. Sapp is THE best player on the FA market besides Jevon Kearse who is now gone. Sapp will generate plenty of pressure up the middle, and will stuff the run. Even though hes hit his 30's he is still one of the top DT's in the league without question. If the price doesnt get too high, we need to bring in Warren. Bringing in this guy and drafting Sean Taylor will instantly make us contenders, and makeus one pass-rushing DE away from having another Super Bowl ring.

Maybe he would be good but with hus ego, age, and salary desires I dont think hes worth it . We will be just fine. I dont what us to turn into past skin teams that just keep spending money for players that will want too much. A good example would be deon sanders.

I agree! We need to stay away from the older over priced player! Plus I don't like his attitude. We need team players. I think we will be fine. One of the reason we did not have any success from the line is because we didn't do much blitzing. Greg Williams will be much more aggressive!

I think our D- Line is solid, Sapp is aging and his play has tailed off. All we need to find is a speed rusher at the defensive end spot. We could look into trading down to the 10th spot in the draft to get more picks and hopfully Udeze lands right in our lap.

I think Sapp is a little long-in-the-tooth for the money he'll demand from the Redskins. We would be better looking elsewhere.

I definitely do not want Sapp at all! He is too old, his best days are behind him, and he most likely won't come cheap. No No No No No

The first thing that pops into my head when I hear about the availability of Warren Sapp is that annoying little stat that used to pop up every year around playoffs time about how when the temperature drops below a certain degree, the Bucs almost never win. Sapp is a Florida man through and through, and I wonder greatly how playing in the cold winters of the East on a full-time basis would affect his already declining play, not to mention his personality. While you can sit back and daydream what it would be to have Arrington or Washington lined up behind the QBKilla, you'd probably find yourself picturing the man that terrorized the league three or four years ago.

I agree - he's too old and too expensive. He's not a Gibbs type. Most of this year's signings are young, 2-6 years experience with more to come. We won't sign Sapp.

Lets change the name of this post to "We Do not need Warren Sapp." First of all he is defintely on the downside of his career. He is not getting any younger and is not even close to the great player he once was. He had a terrible year last year and we do not need his big mouth and ego to come to this team and ruin their chemistry. Also remember his whole fued with Lavar! We are looking to get younger and that is clearly evident by all our free agent signings! Hail to the Redskins!!

He might be a little old, and a little expensive but ask yourselves this.... Would he help our defense out significantly more than any other D-Linemen we could get in FA or the Draft? The answer is YES! Im not saying I want the guy, but we need him so badly. I dont want to have just a "good" season, I want a Super Bowl victory for all Redskins fans to cheer about. This guy will make us so much closer.

Remember Bruce Smith? We signed him for too much money when he was past his best. He may have helped for a year or two but was he worth the money? Stick with the youth policy.

Sapp isnt THAT old, hes only 30 or 31. Bruce was like 36 or 37, at that age your asking for trouble.

Redskins 4 Life... As nice as that sounds, your living in a dream world. Let's not forget that this isn't yahoo fantasy football, and that you have to operate under a salary cap. We aren't getting Sean Taylor because we're trading down, but at this rate it would be a little tough even to give him top five overall pick calliber money on draft day. Let alone adding Sapp and then thinking for 1 second about drafting in the top 5.

As much as I love dreaming as a fellow Skins fan, it's not happening...

CrazyFox, I like you am not very fond of Bruce Smith personally, or his hidden agendas for coming back last season, but he was worth bring in here. He had 29 sacks in four seasons, which is more than an average of 8 per season. That's not too shabby. Plus the sack record, which might last forever, we'll forever go down as a Redskins record. And that is something to cherrish!!

i have afeeling that if we keep him, the x factor in our pass rush will be jeremiah trotter through and through... we all know what hes capable of, and im sure gregg williams and crew watched him play as an eagle or played against him as an eagle and know as well, he'll be even healthier next year than he was last year due to his knee injury and i have a big feeling our coaching staff knows he will be a MAJOR part of our run stopping and pass rush

You can write off the difference in age by factoring in that Bruce played in our weather through his entire career. This NE climate will age Sapp very fast.

If someone who used to live in Florida moves to Iceland, they will be jittering the first month. After that it will be normal to them and you can expect the same from Warren. Weather isnt really a valid excuse for bad performance.
