Yeah, high gas prices are all George Bush's fault.

yeah, and I remember filling my tank for $3 in High school -- 30 cents a gallon!

While I hate to blame the President for all that's wrong in America (it's better to blame Congress normally)I think Bush could do something about the oil companies raping us on prices. Oh yeah, he's from Texas -- wonder if his friends are in that business? It's very interesting that the prices rise around Holidays -- for NO reason. When one station raises them, they all do. Do we really believe that the gas they have in the ground costs them more? I can see a delayed reaction in price changes.

Oh well, what can we do? We need gas, the companies know it, and they make 10 billion per quarter and make comments that this is normal!!! I'm just pissed I didn't buy Oil Co stock 25 years ago.

fredp45, you've got a lot going on in that paragraph. A labor theory of value (oil companies should only charge more if it costs them more to produce a good), the assumption that if President Bush doesn't punish oil companies it must be because of corruption(!), and the idea that you can be raped by any price--considering that you're still willingly paying it. . .

The issue is whether political actions of many kinds can influence the supply of gas. The answer is yes.

Are actions that prevent the free market of oil products punishable by law? The answer is yes.

THas the first happened? Yes. Has the second happened? I do not know but I woud not be surprised.

The Iran mess is already upon us as I predicted quite some time ago in this board. get ready guys: My prediction is that if things get a bit more difficult with the labour in Nigeria, another hurricane hits (and it will) the Gulf coast this summer, or the Iran crisis escalates (and it will), the price of barrel of oil will escalate from a record US$71 today to close to US$100.

I heard last night that Brazil is now completely independant for fuel of their vehicles. They mandated that every car be able to run on ethanol which they generate from sugar. The same cars we drive are being fueled by something they control the supply of. Very smart Brazil. I hope someone catches on and we use them as inspiriation to do the same.

At some point though Chris the people will be smart enough to realize we hold the power and the politicians will follow suit. We just need to know that we put those politicians there and although they may hold stock in oil companies we have the power and the right to negate that influence.

Ah, yes, but suppose that they try to go elsewhere for food. Or suppose that I try to bring other options for food into the prison. Either way, someone will be looking into the barrel of a gun.

The issue is whether political actions of many kinds can influence the supply of gas. The answer is yes.

I agree, and I don't want anyone to think that I was claiming earlier that Bush follows free market principles. Politicians in this country are in bed with oil companies. . .and at the same time will punish them regularly. I guess the idea is to balance out subsidies and protective laws with taxes and congressional hearings.

That's exactly it. I'm not holding out much hope that the price of gasoline will drop anytime soon. It's for that reason that I have come to this thread to mourn with CLL and the others about gasoline prices.

I remember being stationed at Camp Lejuene, NC in 1993, that there was a gas station near my house that charged 84 cents per gallon. Now we are charged three times that amount. ;furious;

ROTFALMAO I remember back in the Spring of 2000....under Clinton....The gas prices rose to a ASTOUNDING $1.75 a gallon! The Republicans slammed Clinton hard for that one! Of course Clinton put a plan together and got the gas prices lowered. And of course, the Republicans slammed his plan too! But at least he did something! Bush must be to busy reading his book with kids or strumming his guitar at his ranch. I guess I can understand.

If NikiH's defense, JBL of the WWE wrote in his blog that we should invest in ethanol, like, NOW!!!!

Before you laugh that off, do realize that JBL, in real life, is very much involved with stocks, trading, etc. His tycoon persona on television is not that far-fetched.

Well, I went past a service station where diesel was £1.00 per LITRE yesterday. By my calculations, that's $6.74 per US gallon. So excuse if I don't weep for you guys - you try buying a tank of that every week. :explode:

they are just gonna charge whatever they want cuse it is the only option we have and we all depend on it. its not like all of a sudden we'll wake up and go buy bikes and bike 7 hours to work every morning on the beltway we rely on gas and we have no alternative.. as long as we are dependant on oil they are gonna price gouge.

that is why it is up to the privet sector to invent new fuels and new forms of energy conversion. so we can all stop playing the 'blame game' and start playing the 'wait around and get screwed till some genious sitting in his basement invents an engine that runs on smiles game'

I take it we all despise Bush for this, not to mention what has basically become a right-wing dictatorship in this country.

You want to see more against Dubya, then I suggest you check out bartcop.com, that stuff will really open your eyes, and I'm not making this up!

Also, check out "Farenheit 9/11", and you will learn more from that movie than you will from what author Gore Vidal calls "the 19th Century Fox News Network".

Here u liberals go again. We wouldnt be dependent on foreign oil if the Democrats would let us use our own natural resources. So now its Bush's fault that they are hiking up gas prices. Its amazing how you guys make Bush out to be so dumb and crazy but yet he still won the popular vote and the overall election. That is because you guys dont realize that most Americans are not falling for the far left crazy ass views. Mabey a few more lost elections will wake u morons up.

So, skins#1fan, I take it that you worship at the big, fat feet of the one they call "Pigboy", Limbaugh?

And you don't believe in independent media?

I've seen worse, my friend, if I may call you friend.

You probably think the Green Party is a terrorist group, when there's no evidence to prove it.

I've even seen a web site put on the 'net by a man who offers evidence, both Biblical and otherwise, to prove that Dubya is the Beast.

Now THAT is scary, and I'm NOT making this up.

Think about it, and run "Is George W. Bush Evil?" on your search engine, and you will find the link.

As for me, I prefer ethanol for fuel, and hybrid cars are the way to go. And the American Public says so!

See you at Jack Kent Cooke Stadium.

I'll be the one driving a Toyota Prius with the bumper sticker that reads, "God Bless Michael Moore"!

ROTFALMAO Undoubtedly the most slanted website I've been to for a while... I could barely contain my laughter when I was checking out how they came up with different mathematical equations to suit coming up with the number 6 and label George the beast... and yet one can't help but notice that they used GW's middle name when it helped the math, but not when it didn't. I'm good with numbers, so i too can make them say just about anything I want...

Now just for argument's sake... I used the Chaledean method on YOUR name to see if it might come up as a 6 and prove that in fact YOU were satan..

C A T Z I M A R S

3+1+4+7+1+4+1+2+1=24
24 -> 2+4= 6

Well my goodness will you look at that? You are the anti-christ based on your name's Chaldean system of numbers. Well as much as bush is anyway.

Also intersting that the hebrew letter chart on the AntiBush site is false as well... there are letters added in for the sake of argument beause there are only 22 letters in the hebrew alphabet... anybody can make anything add up to the numbers they want with the right logic path... after all... they add a number for the soft 'S' and for the 'H' when there is a hebrew letter that corresponds to the 'sh' sound... now why on earth would you do that? oh right.... because otherwise his name would have added up to 658 and that wouldn't have meant squat.

... just like if you take his middle name out of all of the other 'equations' TO BE CONSISTENT WITH THE FIRST EXAMPLE none of them add up to 6's either... wow, what a shock.

... same as anyone can make almost ANY nostradamus quatrain fit their needs by just 'translating from the french' loosely. (noticed that the site did that too - how original)

I'm not a Bush supporter... I live in Canada after all... I really couldn't care much less... but a zealot is a zealot Catzi Mars, and ignorance is a dangerous trait to spread.

I'm sorry to have contributed to this thread getting so far off topic, but some things are just so assanine that they warrant a response.

My 2 cents

Catzi Mars... introduce yourself to crazyhorse1... I hear that misery loves company.
