im not so sure about the 4 offensive lineman set ... how bout we throw Dock in there???

I think you'll set a lot of portis/cooley/moss/lloyd/randle el with sellers seeing less time away from the goaline..

We should be good against the run, but rushing the passer is still a weakness IMO, even with Carter.

He put 4 o-lineman and a Center.

I think that Taylor Jacobs will be gone and James Thrash will be there in his place.

We DID have a problem with rushing the passer, in fact IMO it was the reason we didn't get as many turnovers in 05 that we did in 04. But I noticed that last 5 game stretch that we rushed the passer well and got quite a few sacks. We all know how well Phillip Daniels did in dec. So we may not be as weak as you think.

we should see improved play from daniels this season. carter should be good enough to command attention and prevent the double team.

griffin - commanded a double last year
daniels - needed attention also
carter - could possibly draw the double and free up everyone else.

even if our pass rush with only the front four isn't where we need it to be you can rest assured that our blitzes will once again be effective.

That's exactly where Archuleta comes into play. He's a lot better in blitzing than Taylor is.
Thats one low part of his play, Taylor is not very good of a blitzer. He hardly gets to the QB when he's blitzing.
"I was on the sideline and guys were talking about the score, and then it hit me -- we won by 21. I came in the locker room and I yelled it out, and immediately I just kind of broke down in tears. Because I miss Sean, you know."

To be honest, Im not too sure about that. Nobody on our team was good at blitzing last year. Everyone was getting picked up by offensive linemen. The blitz worked so well in 2004 because the scheme was new to everyone and there wasn't any film on it.

With Carter in the mix that should free up some gaps in the o-line to allow the blitzers some unobstructed lanes to the QB which weren't there last year.

I'm not too sure about that either. From what I saw, Sean Taylor rarely was used on the blitz. Gregg usually left him in the secondary to keep those receivers shaking, nervous and dropping passes because they were too busy looking over their shoulders. Ryan Clark would be the one sent on the blitz more often than not, and was less than effective due to his size. Archuleta will improve that aspect of the D.
Two formation shifts, one man in motion, and a counter trey...those were the days...

Sean Taylor is better in coverage than in blitzing. I found our Defense to be weak everytime ST was blitzing.

He was not affective because our D-line is weak, only one D-linemen Griffin. So it only took one on one blocking and ST was picked up everytime by a linemen

I think Patton's going to work hard to make it a 3-man race at the #2 receiver spot... El and Lloyd will probably get more looks though... and I don't think Randel EL will be returning kickoffs...
