The best free agent outside linebacker available......
by far Lavar Arrington. Sure would be sweet if williams, Gibbs, Danny, and Lavar could'nt just bury the hatchet and start fresh. Leave out the agents , have dan write a big bonus check and move on. Any of you think it would be possible?

I believe it can happen. A lot happens to a man once he realizes he's got a wife and child to take care of. I believe the "prideful" Lavar from his days of youth is not the same guy out there right now looking for a contract.
Sure he's looking for a huge paycheck, but, in this case, he's truly looking out for his family's best interest. That being said, the only way he'll be allowed back is if he signs a smaller deal.
He can always work his butt back to the top, and be in line to earn a bigger contract.

Back and better than ever!
Giants | Team stepping back from Arrington?
Sun, 9 Apr 2006 09:10:24 -0700
Chris Harry, of the Orlando Sentinel, reports the New York Giants reportedly took a step back from free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins) last week. They reportedly took a step back when agent Carl Poston threw out numbers in the seven-year, $54 million range, with a signing-bonus demand of $14 million.
It could happen ... but I rather doubt it. Although I love the way he plays, his strengths (freelancing) do not fit well with our D.

I think it would be great if were some how able to resign Levar. As a former linebacker I pay more attention to the LB's then most people would, and I enjoy watching Levar play more then any other linebacker in the league. He may play a little reckless at times but he also makes a lot of plays that no other player could make.
I think some of the blame has to fall on Greg Williams, if he could not find a way to effectivly use Levar's superior tallent then his system or coaching style is flawed. Levar is a player that has to be accounted for on every play and there are not many of those guys out there. I think Williams went too far in order to prove a point at the expence of one the most talented players in the league. Marcus Washington and Antonio Pierce were both campaigning their teams to try and either keep or sigh Levar, I think that says plenty about him. It will not happen but I would love to be proven wrong, resign Levar.

Actually, while I seriously doubt he's coming back to Washington, for LA this is quickly becoming a question of who will pay and less one of how much will they pay. His agent has handled this badly.
His starting point is too high for anyone to touch him. The Gints, Jags, and Phins all say they want him. They all say he wants too much.
We are into the 2nd week of April and he still hasn't been picked up? WHY...
That's nothing more than getting bad advise from your agent. The same agent tells you a few years ago that you had two $6.5M bonuses coming in July of 2006, only to latter say the team cheated you out of one of those bonuses. Fast forward to five months prior to getting the only $6.5M that was in the contract, the same agent tells you to GIVE BACK $4M to hit the market. ... at this point I'm looking for a new agent.
Teams only have what LA has done in the recent past to determine his price and the info available just doesn't justify giving him what those brothers have cost him.
Rumor has it he is looking for $10- $14M in guaranteed money. Again Lavar is only asking for what he has lost, he's trying to get it from a NFL team he should be trying to get it from the Postons - I'm sure the NFLPA would back him.

I disagree and agree

I'd love to see him come back if it would benifit the team but I don't see it happening.
Lavar has made the statement that the Redskins are a closed chapter in his life (ESPN News all weekend) and I'm pretty sure the feeling is mutual.

After seeing Favre talk this weekend about the team's need to prove they want to win, my first thought was "LA's agent just saw dollar signs."
OK, that is a lie, my first thought was "When did I buy these Cheetos, they are kind of stale" and then I thought "yes, but I love Cheetos so very much" and then I thought "That chick from the Closer is kind of hot" and THEN I thought about LA

But wasn't Farve's chief concern the losses on the offensive line? They've lost his starting center to free agency, and last year they lost both guards. He's not going to want to play another year behind a leaky line (which resulted in something like 26 sacks last year), and signing LA isn't going to change that problem.
I have already started a thread about this and here's the list of LBs..it's a bout 3 weeks old...http://www.thehogs.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18772&highlight=

...and that's EXACTLY how these other teams feel. He DOESN'T deserve what he is asking, based on his last two injury-plagued years.
These teams are TRYING to "give him what he deserves," but his agents think it is too little.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote:Neither of Arrington's agents, Carl and Kevin Poston, was available for comment, but a National Football League source said Arrington visited with club officials Monday and left without a contract offer.
Thompson could be using the visit to show quarterback Brett Favre that he isn't sitting on his hands in free agency, particularly in light of Favre's remarks Saturday that he thought the Packers needed to make a statement with a "Reggie White" kind of signing.
But Arrington's visit was arranged a week ago before Favre made his most recent comments and it's thought the Packers have had interest in him for a while. Arrington, 27, is in the prime of his career and would give the Packers star power and leadership on a defense lacking in both areas.

Aint that the truth.
Honestly, I think LaVar is interested in whomever will pay him the most money. I hate to say it, but I get that feeling.
