Thats 5 plays a game he gets to over pursue on.
Thats 5+ plays a game we shift Cooley to his side and expose his cover skills.

That's one QB a year we get on injured reserve?

Lol, he's on a once every 7 years average. He'll play 17 teams a year, not counting preseason? I think our chances are pretty good.

Maybe the Giants will let him wear #56 and he can continue to pretend to be LT...

Trade LaVar?

Post by pxalpha97 »

Since there appears to be some interest around the league for Lavar, could the Skins have traded him instead of letting him become a free agent? I'm not sure of all the logistics and finances that surrounded the situation so if someone could expalin I would be very appreciative. Thanks.

Why such anger towards a player who gave us everything he had. He also was a pillar in the community. Why any could have negative feelings towards him is besides me. I am heartbroken that he is gone. I am hoping there is a way we could get him back somehow. Now we have a hole to fill on the defense add that to the fact we still havent filld the need with the passrush we might be facing a drop off on defense. Geez this was not a good thing at all. Just the thought of him playing in Dallas along side Demarcus Ware are you kidding me!!!! If he goes to Dallas they automatically become the best linebacking core especially the way Parcells can use him. We didnt even use him right. This is all Greg Williams fault!! He didnt use him right we could have a an even better defense with him on the squad but his stinkin pride got in the way. :explode:

Hello..........Have you been watching the past two years:?:
Arrington has been invisible and the Team has competed well. Old Greg will find another warm body to fill Lavar's departure...And by the way wasn't there that little thing at somebodys B-Day party last year!!!!So don't tell us what a great guy Arrington is/was/isn't.... He bolted on his own for a big pay-check....Frankly I hope he does go to Dallas or any of the other NFC east teams, it will give me another reason too hate them even more....

We were a better ranked defense the year lavar played the least.

Seriously, why cry over spilled milk? He's gone. He did us a favor, who cares about him anymore? I have enough trouble getting along with people I know, not to mention some dude who I haven't seen play ball for 2 years or so. Im not losing any sleep.

What about in the years that he did play, do just forget them? Years when we had NOTHING on defense we had (and depended on) Lavar Arrington. He never complained he went out and gave 100% week in and week out. Do we forget that.

Seriously why not we cried when he over ran plays, we cried everytime he was out of position. Some lost their minds when he turned on the staff. Who cares about him? The same people that he cares about - the Fans. Nobody said you had to lose sleep CLL but give the man his probs.

I think the Lavar deal will put us in the hunt for whoever Gibbs has been eyeing. Again Lavar looked out for the team.

Likewise, I think that Arrington and Gibbs concluded in an honorable way. Yes, I hoped he would be another Wilbur Marshall under for Gibbs and the defensive coaches. It didn't happen.

Good luck to him.

I hope the cap craziness allows us to acquire someone as good.

Meanwhile, I can't think of anything we can add, as much as we would like to be GM of the Redskins. Maybe I've listened to New York's WFAN, "Sports-idiots radio" for too long, and heard too many calls that begin, "Dog, long time listener, love your show and why don't the Yankees trade <list of six front-line players> to Atlanta for <list for five front-line players>.

It won't take long before his new team sees why he's still so fresh after 8 years in the league.
The trainer spends as much time pulling pine splinters out of Lavar's behind as he does taping him up. :)

This was posted on a Giants forum.

http://nygiants.mostvaluablenetwork.com/

here is a latest RUMOR.

I’ve been told by a source (a person who is friends with the Giants PR director, and doesn’t lie to me. EVER.) the Giants and LB Lavar Arrington have agreed to a deal. I obviously had my doubts since it’s constantly going back and forth. And because I’ve been misinformed previously regarding LA.

I took the time to confirm it with a few other sources. One who is a broadcaster, and two others who have asked me repeatedly not to name them or what they do.

All three of those sources also confirmed that Arrington has signed with the Giants. No contract details were given to me, other than that the contract brings Arrington in for six years. However, none were able to tell me when it would be announced, although it’s likely it will be (should be) tonight, possibly tomorrow.

As I stated above, I still have my doubts. At this point, I will believe it 100% when I see it. But if this is the case, I’m as excited as the next guy.

"For all those who prefer to hear it from the media (which I fully understand) here are a few things regarding Lavar Arrington and the New York Giants.

http://www.courant.com/sports/football/hc-nflup0404.artapr04,0,3425343.story?coll=hc-headlines-football Here is a link from the Hartford Courant that has a blurb about an “internet rumor”.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/scorecard/04/04/truth.rumors.nfl/index.html SI.com quoted the Hartford Courant in this article.

Finally, for those who want more solid evidence..

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/04/AR2006040401587.html This is from the Washington Post, stating a “source with knowledge of the situation” informed them talks continue.

That article has also been quoted on KFFL.http://www.kffl.com/

Well no offense... but most people come to the site because youu CAN'T BELIEVE what you read in the headlines.

And I wonder why?

The Hartford Courant cites an 'internet source'

CNNSI runs that blurb from the Courant WITHOUT EVEN INCLUDING THAT IT WAS JUST AN INTERNET SOURCE. I mean how does that fly? Someone cites an anonymous source and then a major media outlet cites the one with an anonynous source AS the source. How convenient is that?

And the Post? Well of course they just cited a 'source'... that's all they ever do... though La Canfora is not usually the guilty one I must admit.

So you posted three articles with a total of ZERO legitimate sources... well ZERO cited sources... that's not a slight on you at all as I'm sure you were just posting some appropriate links... but it is a fairly common occurrence and proof positive that 'reading it in the press' is assuredly NOT a statement of proof of ANY type.

My 2 cents

It may very well turn out to be true, but if you throw enough crap against the wall...eventually some of it will stick won't it?

GIANTS AND LAVAR NOT ON SAME PAGE

Since then, little has changed, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Reports that a deal with the Giants is close or even imminent are not accurate.

The Giants have not announced they have ceased negotiations or taken their offer off the table - a statement they made last year with Plaxico Burress before he eventually signed - but the difference in the contract offered and sought is so great that there is not much to talk about. The Dolphins, Jaguars and Bengals are also interested, but not at Arrington's price.

I dont know if its possible or not but ever since he left Ive had a small inkling that he's going to resign here. If that does happen then we'll have to endure more accusations that the organization is being underhanded.

I agree - this is not just a case of Arrington not getting enough money. There is no way a team who needs help at this position would let anyone go unsigned this long if that player had any ability to help a team. This is not just about the money! These teams can "play" with the contract if they want the "talent" bad enough. The perception in the NFL must be that Arrington is not the player he (and his agents) thinks he is.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Well, I DO! I think there is a chance he gets resigned here, a small chance, but a chance nonetheless.

Why wouldn't we want him back? He's not TO man, it's not like he is going to drag down the locker room, from what I have read he loves his teammates and even last year when he was gettin blacklisted he was still a positive force in the clubhouse.

Man, it makes me sick that fans can turn on their own with the changing breeze. People have such a mob mentality, jump on the bandwagon no matter what. Like cattle led to the troughs. Lavar will always be a Redskin for life to me.

I wasn't "turning on our own". I just posed the question for further discussion.

The team had always said the reason he wasn't playing was more due to his health status than anything else. The Gints say he wants too much coin and did not even give him a physical. Cincy pretty much is in the same boat, but I don't know if he spent any time with the trainers in Cincy or Miami. Both teams Down here want him and the dollars are close. The Jags had a problem with his knee and LA left the state.

If Lavar were to re-sign with the Skins I'd welcome him back. However I don't see it happening.

True, I really like LaVar and I think that he always played hard and loved the team. However, there is no doubt that he is a lightning rod for controversy. I don't think it's because he is a bad person or he is selfish (in fact I think he is quite the opposite, by all accounts he is a great guy) but it is still a fact. I don't think the 'Skins will want him back for these reasons. I don't think it's turning on our own but rather facing the facts and realizing just how dysfunctional his relationship with the team had become.
