Nice, but you should incorporate more redskins colors and logos in the background, like wallpaper.

Be careful what you put out there. A lot of companies search myspace and similar sites when you send in a resume, to learn things about you they never could in an interview.

If there's a picture of you thumping some wife-beating chump or blowing chunks after a night of drinking, there's a good chance you won't be getting an interview.

I think it's BS that a company would do that...

I know they do, but I wish there were rules against it... sure, it's something you're putting in sort of public space, but you also only expect your friends to see that stuff...

IMO, because you expect only friends to see that page it should be a breech of confidentiality for them to view it with those kinds of intentions.

I'll bet you could make a pretty good case for that... it would be like if they sent a person to spy on you without your knowledge when you went drinking... they should have to ask you "can we search the internet for information about you?"

The internet is public domain. Typing on a message board gives you the same privacy rights as if you shout in a crowded mall.

If you want something to remain private, typing it on a web site is probably not a good idea.

You're kidding me, right? That's absurd.

Once you post a profile on the Internet, dude, it is about as far away from "private" as you can get!

If you don't want people to know about you, don't post on the Internet....plain and simple!

Want a real shocker? Do a google search using your name and see what comes up. You may be in for a little surprise.

A classic case of not wanting to accept responsibility, and make laws to compensate for it instead.

Well that's one of the most assinine comments I've read in a while. First of all, as already stated, the internet is PUBLIC world-wide. You bypass all confidentiality laws by putting anything on the web; even password protected areas can be breached. You want something confidential... then don't write it down

Skinsfan55 wrote:I'll bet you could make a pretty good case for that...

Now, that's definitely one bet I'll wager on... you would have NO case.

One of the major problems right now with MySpace is that a lot of kids use it and put personal info up without fully understanding the ramifications. Pedophiles are searching MySpace now for their victims; or just to interact with the kids (without their true identities being known).

Just to give you an idea of how non-confidential the internet is, I can tell where you posted your message from!

I hate the stupid place... but fopr other reasons... they hog a lot of bandwidth from me... because people don't know how to design a web page and just steal other peoples.

For example... you'll likely see mySpace pages with THN wallpapers for backgrounds all over the place... first of all... higher res full photos are not exactly the best thing to use for web page backgrounds... well... they might look nice... but heaven forbid someone is on dial-up... they're looking at 45 seconds just to download the background image.

But I digress from my real point... since there's so many people there that have no idea what they're doing... they just point mySpace to other people's websites for images etc... and hog their bandwidth.

What does this mean? :hmm:

Well it means that a whole lot of people are using up bandwidth that THN pays for. Every time someone views a mySpace page with one of THN's images on it... it eats up MY bandwidth. If you think I'm exaggerating... I know of over 40 people alone using the Sean Taylor wallpaper on their mySpace account... that's that I KNOW of and have actually been to their mySpace account.

Know how many of them asked for permission to use any graphics?

None.

Know how many pictures THN uses on the site that are leached from other websites in this manner?

None. Not in all the hundreds of pages. I mean I usually don't even use other people's photos in the forums... I actually download what i want, and then upload it to THN's server space. It's just not neccessary when you can just put the file on your own server space.

It's a shame because I have no problem with people using most of the graphics anyway... all they have to do is download them to their own computer and then upload them to their mySpace account. (asking would be nice too)

Of course mySpace will take no responsibility but they have ostensibly just created a community of websites that are STEALING their content and graphics from someone else who is paying for it.

No wonder they offer free accounts.

Do me a favor, if you have a mySpace account, and you use graphics from THN... just download the graphics and then upload them yourself to mySpace... that way the page isn't CONSTANTLY pointing to my website and costing me money. if the abuse continues to grow as it is, I'll probably just make it so that NOTHING can be used from this site on other sites... but that's a real shame to those that have done nothing wrong and have been granted permission to use up some of our bandwidth.

Sorry for the rant, but it seemed like a good time to get it in.

Thanks for your ear.

... there are a lot of things I could do... I could just replace the file with a graphic that says pretty much anything I liked.

And as some of you may know from Smack.... that could be bad...

...real bad.

I used to keep "hot link protection" enabled on my site, but since I also use it to post pictures to link to on this site and others, I had to turn it off. You can pretty-easily block hotlinked images from reaching myspace with a .htaccess file (as I"m sure you know) assuming you are on unix/linux.
