I have an UNCONFIRMED report here at work that says the Jets have turned around and sent Ramsey and Abraham to the ATL for Matt Schaub and a #2.

The rumour about Ramsey to Atlanta sounds bogus. The Jets official site has quotes about how the coach looks forward to working with Ramsey and how Ramsey looks forward to working with the Jets.

Exactly !! Jason Campbell going in to play against the Giants at home after Brunell gets injured and we need the win to keep our playoff hopes alive ... we lose. No doubt in my mind. While we lost trade value the value to our team of having a backup QB that has started, done ok and understand the offense is extremely more valuable.

I don't agree with you. Campbell would have lost that game for sure. One or two of his passes "with his five second delivery" would have gotten picked off. I sincerely hope the coaches are working on that delivery. I mean right now you could time it with a sun dial!

How come the Skins always get boned in trades! To say that they end up on the short end of the stick is a big understatement. They had to take way below what Ramsey is worth because of the horrible way they handled the whole thing. Two years ago the Jets offered the Skins Abraham, Lemont Jordan, some tight end and their first draft pick for Champ Bailey. Instead we got the raw deal from Denver. I love Portis and I am happy that we have him, but does this team have to get a colonoscopy every time they make a trade. RB are a dime a dozen and can be found everywhere.

I don't care if he's the second coming of Joe Montana. Campbell would not have been the best choice to put in the Giants game (when Ramsey went in and did enough for us to come out with a "W").

Lets think this scenario through for a second shall we??

A rookie...

Who has not played since the pre-season (a preseason need we be reminded that he didn't play that much since Brunell and Ramsey actually got most of the reps in the preseason games)...

Going in to fill in for the starting QB (who incidentally got most of the resp in practice that week) after the starter was injured and out of the game...

Going in against a decent defense that can confuse coverages...

Against the division leaders...

With our playoffs hopes still on the line...


No way I'd call for a rookie over Ramsey in that situation. Not a chance in hell.

Ramsey for all his faults (of which he does have some/many);

1.) knew the offense
2.) has started in the NFL before and is used to the speed
3.) actually got more playing time that year than the rookie (yes even in preseason he got more playing time)


Again - I'm not talking about who will be a better QB or who is a better QB. I'm talking about right at that moment, which QB gave us the better chance to win the ballgame. Thats what a backup does. Gives you a chance to come out with a win when your starter goes down.

And THAT is why Gibbs and Co. kept Ramsey this past year instead of trading him for a higher pick. Peace of mind is worth something too.

Thanks for the post. Nice to see some real minutes of play. I think the slow delivery is overstated. He seems to have a pretty quick release. Most evident in the short dump passes. I'm excited to see him in B&G with some quality minutes. (B&G = Burgundy and Gold)

The Atlanta deal is a joke. It's not going to happen. This isn't the same old jets front office. There is a new sherrif in town .

Thanks for Ramsey . Anytime you can grab a young former 1st rd pick who never got a fair shake for a bag of footballs...you jump on it. The skins should have taken the deal last week before you signed Todd Collins. IMHO...that gave us the leverage. Sure ...he would probably have been cut anyway...but we would have got into a bidding war with many other teams for him. Ramsey for a 6th rd pick is highway robbery.

I seriously doubt Chad will get the green light for the opener. No way they rush him back this time,if he can ever come back to form. I think Ramsey has a very good shot at starting the first couple games for NY.


it's no secret he was in gibbs doghouse as soon as Joe took the job. For some reason or another he gave Brunell 32M to come here and play QB without giving Patrick a fair shake. Sure when he did get in he had happy feet and made poor decisions but thats what happens when you run with the 2nd & 3rd teams during practice.

Hopefully Ramsey takes advantage of this oppurtunity.

We are rebuilding. I don't what it will take to give up on him. I seriosuly think it's gonna be 2 yrs before we start to see the new regime working. I agree with you...we will be hruting next yr.

It's late and I can't think staright anymore,lol. Im pretty sure the Jets FO has faith Chad can come back but if he can't(and a lot of jets don't think he can after 2 shoulder surguries,Me included) Ramsey will get a legit shot to see if he can be a starting QB in the NFL.

And I would have thought that a guy who was on here just THIS WEEK and was totally amazed at how the Redskins are loading up on TALENTED PLAYERS (your words) would figure it out. Here's a little tough love... as much as I love the guy... if Ramsey couldn't establish himself as a starter in Washington under the conditions he's had... maybe he's just not going to. Great arm... great attitude, good leader.... but feet like mush... now if he had DEVELOPED any pocket presence in the last few years... he might not be in this situation. But he hasn't. I watched linemen run WITH him in sprints at practices... that's bloody slow for any QB! Sure Spurrier hurt things by throwing Ramsey to the wolves... but it isn't like he looked comfortable at camp or in preseason last year either. And if his confidence was shot by Spurrier... he didn't show any sign that he had regained it by the start of last season.

I love Patrick the person... but I'm happy to see Patrick the quarterback go give it a shot somewhere else. Yes... Patrick's re-united with Coles... but isn't that EXACTLY what Jets fans said last year about Chad and LC? How did that work out for them? If he succeeds... I'll be glad to see it... because I really don't care about the Jets, their fans, their division, or their conference.
