Fletcher is a back up defensive corner that plays in the nickel and package. He will align mostly on the slot receiver. He is technically sound, he has good foot work and he plays with a low center of gravity. He has good quickness, he is fluid in his hips and he has good change of direction skills. He does not lose a lot of speed in transition and has good overall body control. He is tough for his size, he is a solid tackler and he has good instinct and route awareness. He is a confident and aggressive player who is not afraid to support the run. The problem with Fletcher he lacks size, strength and top end speed. He is a lot quicker than he is fast. He does not have the ability to recover when he makes a mistake which happen to be too often. He gets caught looking in the backfield; he will jump routes and will give up the big play. He is a better zone player than a man to man player. He does not have the speed to keep up with the elite receivers in this league. His lack of size makes him a red zone liability. He will get out muscled and out jumped by bigger, faster and more physical receivers. Overall, Fletcher lack of size and ideal top end speed will always be his limitation but he has improve his recognition skills, he has good football instincts and he has the experience to be a good back up.

I'd like to see him. We need a quality 3rd guy b/c Springs is getting hurt often and I don't want Jimoh in there too much. He's ok but when used sparingly.
I like this guy and think he would be great as a back up/nickel guy. He has great potential and Williams will be able to get the best out of him in my opinion. I wish I would have seen him play more in the pros though.

By no means am i trying to start an argument with you, but what do you base the springs comment on? He made it through two years with minimal games missed.

His nickname in Miami was Toast, which was just about what they got for him in the trade to San Diego.
To think the Dolphins passed-up on Reggie Wayne and Todd Heap for this guy. The only other worst picks that year were from the Skins (Gardner-15th) and D.Terrell for Chicago 8th.

Great potential?... the article says his lack of size and speed will always be a limitation, he's a red zone liability, and can't recover... permanent limitation, by definition, is the exact opposite of potential... potential would mean he possesses the tools but still needs to develop certain skills or techniques... this guy has some skills, but lacks the tools to get much more out of them...
