It's great being single....

Post by Justice Hog »

Being single allows me to ride my Harley whenever and wherever I want. I also allows me to host a weekly poker night at my house with the "fellas". We play a nickle, dime & quarter game usually starting at 7:00 p.m. and ending some time around 3:30 - 4:00 a.m.. The goal is really just to hang out and have fun, rather than be overly serious and focusing on winning/losing. It's dealer's choice so we're playing all kinds of goofy poker games. I really love it.

So, to make things even more enjoyable, I just got these two items:

Kegerator

and

Poker/Dining Table

The kegerator arrived yesterday and the poker table arrived today. I'm taking a few weeks off so our next game is 4/1. I can't wait to put these new purchases to good use!

Damn, I love being single. No wife to tell me "you can't buy this...you can't buy that."

Oh. I've got a girlfriend, SkinsChic, but I'm still, by definition, "single" = not married.

To each his own I guess!!

I enjoy similar activities (domino instead of poker, a sports car instead of a Harley) and more -plus- the benefits of a happy marriage and wonderful young kids.

It all comes down to the person one chooses to spend the rest of one's life with. I was lucky enough to find my match (and somebody that loves enough me to put up with the whole "package" )

I second that motion.

However, I will say this, JH, great purchases. Should make your poker nights a lot more entertaining.

Is that your definition of marriage? ROTFALMAO

Maybe you should have said, being single is better than being married to someone who doesn't love you enough to let you be you...

My 2 cents

I personally don't think that I could find trust, honor, love, respect, and/or someone to spend the rest of my life with at the bottom of a kegerator... but to each his own.

Unless I misread his post, I didn't see JH rip marriage as an institution, he just said he, personally, enjoys being single.

True, but, the last line in his original post was unecessary to prove that he REALLY enjoys his time with his buddies.

Others just wanted to point out that his view on marriage is misguided.

Personally, I dig his purchases. If I liked poker and really devoted a lot of time to my buds, I'd probably look at making similar purchases.

So, before this goes down a road not intended by the original post, I must ask....

JH, will you be getting the matching chairs with the table?? Those look pretty sweet!!!

Well, after two divorces....maybe that's what I had to deal with in the past with the two "exes".

Marriage isn't bad and I'm not putting it down. Those of you that are jumping on that bandwagon, please get off. Marriage can be great.

All I'm saying, for the love of God, is that I'm single...and I'm currently enjoying every bit of it.

Geez, folks, I'm startin' to think that I posted this on Extreme Skins or somethin'! \:D/

I doubt it. I've got enough stuff to bring down, with the coolers, grill, etc. Sorry.

That's what I was sayin' that you were sayin' ... or something ... I've noticed that some married people tend to take any celebration of being single as an attack when it isn't meant to be. My parents have been happily married for 30 years, I hope to follow in their footsteps but I'm in no rush to get there.

Marriage is nothing more then a piece of paper. The relationship is the part that can be either good or bad. You don't need the paper to have the relationship and you don't need the relationship necessarily to have the paper.

It's just as possible that your girlfriend behave that way whether she is 17 years younger or not. Actually more likely with a girl that young because they are not old enough to know men can be independant and have a relationship at the same time, married or not.

I agree 100%, Niki. "Relationships" are the key, not the "paper". Since I'm 0-2, will I get married again? Well...I'll never say "never" but I'll certainly head in that direction with my eyes wide open.

I just want a partner, as BH suggests, that accepts me for who I am. I just never had that before (which is why I'm 0-2).

If I find that person in my life, then I'll probably go for #3.

Marriage can be wonderful with the right person. The key is finding the right person . . . which isn't that easy.

If the celebration of being single wasn't followed by a statement against marriage based on a personal experience, I think it would be different. Saying I love being single comes across much differently than saying I love being single because it means that I don't have a nagging wife.

Perhaps that's the rub...

I'm personally of the same belief that JH is, that it IS sometimes hard for someone to find the right person... and that just makes it that much more important to not let PREVIOUS bad personal experiences get in the way of finding the 'right one'. If you are guarded and don't have an eye for what true love really CAN bring, then you might just miss that tiny window of opportunity when it presents itself.

Not trying to be negative JH it's just that you started your post with..

Being single allows me...It seems and if you whole post was predicated on being single?

As if being married wouldn't allow you to do these things??

Sorry if I read into it to much.

Hey, enjoy your life. I'm married and my wife is nothing like that. Maybe you had bad luck, or maybe it's you. Either way, it doesn't sound like you are supposed to be married right now. Maybe again. Live a good life day to day, if you find someone to share it with later on, all the better. There are lots of roads to happiness.

So JH, if this girl you are seeing is 17 years younger, does that make her like 40 or what. :nana:

Ouch. When I say I'm old and fat, I'm not THAT old!

Actually, it doesn't matter how old a woman is or isn't. It's what's inside that counts.
