Everyone is going to expect 300 yard games through the air and far, far more passing TD's than this guy has been producing recently. I can't say I have faith in him to do it. I hope I'm wrong or that Jason Campbell is ready to step up in a big way.

Welcome to the Board! I disagree with you though. Buges and Gibbs are all about protecting the quarterback. If that means running the ball, or quick screens or quick slants or whatever then thats what they'll do. Thats just my two cents.

Antwaan Randle El is not going to be the third string quarterback, for a couple of reasons:
1: Learning the entire Redskins offense is hard enough without trying to do it for two different positions. Randle El needs to understand what he needs to do at wide reciever before he tries to learn the most difficult position on the field.
2: Moving Randle El to quarterback means you lose Randle El at wide reciever. That means he would have to be able to play the positions significantly better than a guy like Todd Collins.
3: Randle El just isn't a very good passer. He had a NFL quarterback rating of 71.69 for his career at Indiana, including a 78.63 mark his senior year. The translation of those numbers to the NFL would be very ugly.
Randle El is a fantastic passer when it comes to trick plays and would be a servicable emergency quarterback, but putting him at number three on the depth chart is a terrible idea.

I don't mean third sting as in no other QB on the team...but what a luxury it would be to activate another ST,D or O player instead of a 3rd QB. The irony is almost every team that loses there starter to injury goes out and gets a backup for the backup seldom do you see the third sting guy get a chance...particularly if the team is still in contention.

True. But any quarterback kept on the practice sqaud is going to be a Gibran Hamdan, Bryson Spinner type player. If Brunell and Campbell both go down, the chances that one of those guys are going to promoted to the starting role are remote - the Redskins would surely bring in a veteran.
In the end, the decision is whether or not to carry two or three quarterbacks on the roster. And while Randle El would make it easier to go with two, I think a guy like Collins brings so much more to the Redskins, considering not only his knowledge of Saunders offense but also the relative uncertainty of Brunell (injury) and Campbell (performance).
I love this signing because we now clearly have the fastest offense in the NFL!
Moss and Randle El are as fast as anyone in the league and we have Portis coming out of the backfield who is among the fasted RBs in football. Patten is almost as fast, too. Lloyd doesn't have the same top end speed but he has incredible athletic skills.
In todays NFL speed kills more than anything and boy do we have a lot of it!

Also, much has been made of Randle El only catching 35 passes last year. Well, many people have mentioned the intangibles that he brings to the table from the perspective of trick plays and being an elite special teams player (btw, another reason I love the Lloyd trade, we were so scared to put Moss back there last year - having Lloyd and Patten on the team will make it practical to put Randle El back there and not have to worry as much about injuries). However, it must also be noted that despite his size he is an excellent blocker. Moss really surprised me with his blocking skills last year and now even though we have two small WRs they are both excellent when it comes to this. That will only make this team better.

Campbell is the only QB that we can put on the PS. Once on there any team can sign him, so that won't happen.
I think DE means we can deactivate the 3rd QB and if needed ARE can be the #3. This would free up a spot for a additional DB/DE/OL to dress on gameday.
I prefer to dress 3 QBs that play QB full time, but if the need arrises it would be a option to look at

Correct... it's almost like having an extra roster spot. Randall El becomes the gameday panic QB. There were many games where Brian Mitchell was the third QB. You get to your 3rd QB in a game, and you're pretty much screwed anyway.
So, instead of having a 3rd QB on the active roster, you can now use that spot for another position.
