You see the deal is worth a maximum of 31 million over 7 years.

That means that Randel El will have to hit every incentive to earn that much money.

If he hits every single incentive (which I don't think he'll do) that means that we would have one of the best WRs in the league based on his numbers.

Another aspect of the deals is the bonuses. Those total 11. 5 million which is already included into that $31 million figure.

Meaning that without his bonus he would be making 19.5 mill for 7 years if he hits every incentive which would essentially mean we're paying less than 3 a year for one of the best wr in the league.

Because he probably won't hit all his incentives he will not see most of that money.

I wish everybody would stop worrying about the money. Randle El is worth 31 mil because of his versality, not just as a reciever but as a dynamic force in the return game. He also adds gadget plays to Saunders offense as a quarterback. Mark my words, we will look back on this as we did the Santana deal last year, a true steal.

he prb wont even get 31 mil b/c thats with incenitives and that meens he has to hit certain goals to get more money. If he doesnt reack any of the goals to make more money he will make 19.5 mil over 6 years

How do you know that? The only detail I can find about the contract is that it is voidable after six years. Do you have a link that discusses any performance escalators? If not, I think the "maximum of $31 million" is referring to the seventh year of the deal.

You can only run so many wr screens.

Actaully Randle El is more of a possesion reciever, he has a great burst but is not the fastest WR in the league. He was used as a "chain mover" all year last year.

Where does Randle-El get this rap of not having top flight speed! DID ANYONE SEE HIM CHASE DOWN THAT CHAWK SAFETY IN THE SB. He was ten yards behind him and halfway accross the field. Randle-El was faster than EVERYONE on that field! Not many people could have made that play. That was Do Good chasing down Tony "the human fumble machine" Dorsett type of play.

Someone answere me how we are going to keep Moss, Patten, Lloyd, and Randle-El all happy in an offense that very rarely has more than 2 WRs on the field at any given time.

I've been watching Randle el since he was drafted, and he really doesn't have that great of speed. He just has a good initial burst, and he has great agility and shiftiness, but he doesn't have great top end speed. But it doesn't matter, we have moss for that kind of speed. All that matters is that he's almost always open when you need a first down.

This is the worst possible news I could immagine.

Randle El is a mediocre reciever, and is AT best a decent slot option.

Terrible, this smells like a Danny move.

Lloyd is 10 times the reciever Randle El is, this is so stupid.

I somewhat agree with you, he has been around a while and has been an average WR. Now, becasue he had a nice playoff run and superbowl exposure on a contect year, this is his payday. We probably overpaid for him but remember we just need a complement to Moss. What I do like about him, he can return kicks, he can make a few plays with his arm and legs too. I'm not writing the checks, Synder is. So that said money aside, I think he can help the team.

Alright... who let the wet blanket out?

Are you kidding? He may never be a #1 receiver, but he is a hell of a return man, and gives the O some fabulous new options.

Height doesn't matter one bit when the speed of the received gets him 2-3 yards behind the nearest cornerback or safety. Just ask Roy Williams.

Alright, let's look at our current QB's...

We've got Brunell, Ramsey (for now), Campbell, Casey, Randel-el and Portis with Collins as a potential FA pickup.

To throw to, we have Moss, Lloyd, Randel-el, Patten, Thrash, Jacobs, Brown, Cooley, and Sellers...

Why not move the H-Back to TE, remove the TE normally on the field and field two QBs at one time for a few plays? You could do alot with a set-up like that if you have this kind of depth.

I wouldn't be too worried about the money situation. But for goodness sakes can we land a lineman?

To add to what you wrote, there is only one thing that matters in a NFL contract: guranteed money. That's it. How many contracts get restructured each year. In the NFl guranteed money is the only thing you can take serious.

I love this signing. I was in such a great mood heading into work tonight.

Too bad I had no one to talk to about it. :(

We've got nice offensive firepower. As I mentioned in the Patten thread, I hope Brunell can stay healthy and consistent or Jason Campbell has matured nicely with his one season holding a cliipboard. I would also feel better if we had a bit more depth in our O-Line.

Brunell is going to be under alot of pressure to get the ball distributed this season. Everyone is going to expect 300 yard games through the air and far, far more passing TD's than this guy has been producing recently. I can't say I have faith in him to do it. I hope I'm wrong or that Jason Campbell is ready to step up in a big way.

Here's why I love this signing..

Why not get a rookie or FA cheap QB and out him on the PS and let Randle El be the third QB...also has Antonio Brown been cut yet? This guy give you so many options!!

Not yet. Here's who's on our roster as far as wide recievers are concerned...

The Name's You Know:
Santana Moss
Antwaan Randle El
Brandon Lloyd
David Patten
James Thrash
Taylor Jacobs
Antonio Brown

The Name's You Don't Know
Ataveus Cash http://www.redskins.com/team/profile.jsp?id=1231
Jimmy Farris http://www.redskins.com/team/profile.jsp?id=7004
Steven Harris http://www.redskins.com/team/profile.jsp?id=6748
Ron Johnson http://www.redskins.com/team/profile.jsp?id=144
Richard Smith http://www.redskins.com/team/profile.jsp?id=1259
LaShaun Ward http://www.redskins.com/team/profile.jsp?id=1251

This group is made up of young unresrictied free agents that were promoted from the practice squad to the active 53 man roster. Of all of them, from what I can tell, Jimmy Farris is the only one with a reception. But those are our Wide Recievers.[/u]
