Lloyd

Post by ATV »

Ugh....

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 00023.html

Brandon Lloyd must be a big fan of Jesus or something. Otherwise, I don't really get it. I've been living in Illinois and was able to see him play (only once in person) when he was in college. He has good hands but he's kind of lanky and not a burner. I mean, he could be pretty good, but I dunno about having to forfeit some draft picks for him. I wouldn't do that, but who am I.

Also, from the perspective of this article it sounds like the Redskins might go crazy (again) during this Free Agency. I'm hoping for a more restrained approach, not unlike last years.

I hope we bring Todd Collins over from KC as our 3rd QB. He knows Saunder's offense, and has learned behind Trent Green. I am sure he could step in if need be, but more importantly he can be an extra QB coach for Jason Campbell while learning this system.

We better not give up a first round pick for Loyd....I had enough of McCants and his aspirations to be a singer. If he spent as much time training to get faster, stronger and become a better receiver and special teamer, then maybe he would be here.

Im not in favor of giving up a 1st round pick in next years draft for Lloyd. If we can get him for a 2nd round pick and maybe a player, I'd think about it. Plus I dont know if I can deal with a "rapping" WR, it just irritates me for some reason.

They better go and get A. Bryant, sign him to a cheap deal and get the same amount of production.

Why give up a 1st round pick when there are other alternatives on the open market who require no draft pick compensation?

His youth and athleticism are great upsides, but a first rounder is a little steep for just about anyone who isn't a shoe in to the HOF. Either way, I'm sure Gibbs and company will make the right call for the organization and I'm looking forward to some more great things next year!
"The biggest misrepresentation there is that [it's because] Dan's got a lot of money. That's not it," Gibbs said. "We've got a rule. Believe me, if we had no rules, Dan would spend some money."

](*,) This is what the Skins make me feel like doing sometimes.

HOWEVER, if the coaches feel a need to target him specfically then there HAS to be something they know that we dont.

They have the film, we dont.
They have relationships with coaches league wide for insight into a players mentality...we dont.

While things look black and white on the outside, I trust that they're making the best moves, hopefully.

Lloyd huh? i don't think he'd be a bad pick up. he's still very young and he's proven to be a pretty good reciever. so what if he's a rapper? and what's that have to do with his ability to perform for us on the field? im not sure about the 1st round pick for him though, if we can get around that then this would be a great addition.

And you say he's a big fan of JESUS? so am i! SWEET! :D
Nothing's more exciting than a life of a Redskin fan. haha yuuup.

Good point.

Lloyd is a good receiver but doesn't really have the size we need at receiver.

You know, remeber how I threw a fit about Mike Williams. I think Gibbs proved a point to me last season that size doesn't matter AS MUCH as I previously thought. I think that Lloyd has enough size  (i know this read badly) to be able to compensate our needs.

Im not sold on what it'll cost to get him.

Lloyd has gotten better every year and managed to put up decent numbers last year considering how terrible the 49ers were as a team. I'd much rather see a young guy like this with serious upside vs. Isaac Bruce.

Gotta agree with you guys about giving away draft picks though. It would be nice to get to make some picks in the draft once in a while.

My goodness he was a 4th round pick and didn't even break 1000 yards last season....

He is NOT worth a 1st round pick. Give them a #2, he didn't put up #1 WR numbers and ONLY #1 WRs are worth a 1st round pick.

Nope, nope, nope, nope.

Finally somebody who is doing there homework, Antonio Bryant would be best suited for the skins. I love his size at 6'2 210, he has a little be bit of an attitude whick I like cause it makes him play harder. Dont need to worry about that cause Gibbs has his staff in line to make sure the players stay in line. And the # 1 reason he is still young, and can learn from the Vets we have on our team.

I love the video of Lloyd making all the spectacular catches, and he has good size, 6'. He definetely would be a huge improvement to our 2nd receiver options now, and he is young.

No Bruce Smith, Deion Sanders, Mark Carrier here.

He also went to the same high school as Ladell Betts, Blue Springs, Missouri. They are only 2 years apart too so I'm sure they played ball together :o

Giving up a 1st rounder is out of the question though. That would be stupid :!:

He definately makes some of the best catches I have ever seen. Too bad they only show the one-hander against the Seahawks once, that was incredible. The catch against the Giants though was the best catch of the year in the NFL by far. He is certainly good at getting on SportsCenter but I haven't seen enough of him to really judge his overall talents. He is definately a good player though.

Maybe Betts is giving him a good word too.

Well maybe Betts can get us an employee discount too.

Hmmm, Llyod has hands like glue, but... there are so many other recievers out there.

Bryant, Givens, Bruce... all will cost less than Llyod in terms of a deal AND compensation... This just can't be true, it makes no sense.

We've gotten better as a FO but we still have a lot of room for improvement regardless of the outcome of this situation.

Lloyd has played well for San Francisco. The 49ers are not the 49ers of old. So to accomplish what he has for them the last few years is a good sign of what he might be on a more established team. The offensive scheme and coaching as well might even do more for him than we realize. Now do i think he is deserving of a number one pick. No way. maybe there will be a three way with the Jets or somethng like along those lines. Guess we will see real soon. I love this time of year.
