The [un]official 2600 members thread
Welcome to oldanalog, the 2600th registered member of theHogs.net!
The growth on this site has been pretty amazing.
Any bets on what date the 3000-member mark will be reached?

So, is your bet "over" or "under"?
I was going to say training camp. So, I'll go under.
Edit: It would be kind of cool to have a calendar and let members sign up for a date they think the site will reach 3000 member. Maybe we can talk the staff into making a special "badge" for the winner.

Over. Easily. Things slow down in the summer.

2889 members and Camp is on now. We are short by 111. But I am impressed with the progress. The site is growing fast. Keep up the good work. Two weeks to the deadline.

Holding at 2,975 and it's 8/10. That just over 6 people joining per day.
Man, this is kinda cool.
I may have hit the date on the head!
It's gonna be close, folks.

The link in the Hamilton Spectator article on Jesse Lumsden, might propel us there sooner. If it happens on the 14th, I'm asking for YOUR help on the Hognostications this year.

Back and better than ever!
Actually there's some spammers that need to be cleaned up from the last few days, so son't count chickens yet... it'll actually be more like six to ten... still doable though.
Far be it from me to point out that closing the Camp forum to the general public had a lot more to do with it than good guessing did.
Had I not closed the camp forum to 'members only'... we'd likely still have 30 or 40 to go... and nobody knew that was coming, so there's an element of luck there.
I never like it when there's some sort of 'guessing game' on board numbers... people start 'cheating' to be right and create false registries. Luckily I can see IP addresses etc and can figure out who's trying to pad a number.

Really? I would think that, since there isn't anything actually at stake, people could just sit back and watch it follow a "natural" course. And, of course, the actual number isn't the, but the overall growth of the site. Another thing we didn't know when this thread started was that you would completely redesign the main site and add the blog feature. Surely that affected the numbers as well.

Yepper.... unfortunately people don't think about much other than themselves, so creating a little work for me or any other mod for that matter, is usually the last thing people consider.
There's a lot of factors that went into the growth... ability to 'gauge' that growth really had nothing to do with the increased activity and increasing board population... most of it was due to the hard work of the staff.

Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.
